Oh yes, it's that time of year again. I used to take pleasure in sussing out me own taxes. But as…read moreproperties and business grew, things became increasingly complicated. There was a dabbling for a few years w/online tools like Turbo Tax, but I got awfully tired of getting notices later in the year (always at the least convenient times) from the feds and the state with their CORRECTED versions of the forms, which always and invariably meant more moolah outta my pocket. I fancy myself a pretty generous soul, but I can think of many, better uses for said ducats, then turning the kitty mindlessly over to our government, which for many years now has displayed all the spending restraint of a drunken sailor at a brothel. \End rant. Thanks, Keller and co, for doing the heavy lifting for me.. all the better to allow for time in my action-packed days and nights to pursue truly worthy goals, such as wacking myself over the head over and over w/a wooden mallet. It must have been the Catholic Schools that instilled the appreciation for mortification of the flesh... as such , it is no coincidence to THIS laptop jockey, that Lent and Tax Season go hand in had....

Baruch Valenzuela picked up my case midway through and helped me fight the IRS away from a $14,000…read moreovercharge. The services he and his staff provided were rapidly, efficient, and he worked with me to make sure that he aligned with my working schedule and needs. They went above and beyond, accepting payment for an amended return and then continuing to follow up with the IRS for 6 months after until it was all solved. 10/10 would use again.

Overcharged and underdelivered. 2025 was our first (and…read morelast) year filing with PNW. We provided a well-organized packet of documents, which was commented on when we dropped them off. Then 3 days later was instructed to complete a very detailed filing questionnaire and instructions that our return would not be filed on time without if. We would have been fine with that if this was explained ahead of time instead of so close to 4/15. The filing review meeting was rushed and average. No tax strategies were explored for that year nor any tangible actions for the next year. Then we were given the bill which was over $2,000. Our 2024 filing was nearly a 3rd of that amount and experiences with our long-term preparer from 2006 - 2023 (who retired) was less a 1/4 for 2023. Both were professional tax advisors, and we had no major changes to our finances. We asked why it was so high and were given no plausible answer other than that is what they charge. I don't believe the Porsche's in their parking lot belong to clients. Lastly, very odd, the door to their office looked like we were entering an amateur workshop. We had concerns their premises were secure.
