Last visited Stout's recently on a Saturday evening with a few friends for dinner. We really liked the appetizer pizza we ordered. The dinners were bland and expense. There were a few craft beers we found out about that were not on their beverage menu, and not mentioned by the waiter, so be sure if you're ordering beer to ask your server about any additional options. I would consider returning to Stout's sometime for a few drinks and appetizer(s) but not for dinner. read more

Met up with my friends here late at night so was able to catch their happy hour. I shared a chicken tender basket with fries with my friend. The fries were amazing. Our service was good, I think she could tell we wouldn't be ordering much so she kind of just stayed out of our way. I wouldn't necessarily come back to Stout's but I would recommend if you're looking for a casual sit-down for American food in this area. read more

I met friends there for lunch and was delighted to see a Reuben on the menu. Our server was prompt and detail oriented and the food was reasonably fast. I didn't quiz my lunch mates but they all seemed to enjoy their meals. The size of the servings was impressive but not overwhelming. The Reuben was generous on ingredients with the right balance of corned beef and kraut. The sauce was served on the side, making it easy to get the correct distribution. It came on a soft, dark rye with a side of slaw. I'm happy to find a high quality Reuben for less than $13. read more

I live less than a mile away, we used to go often on Sunday's for kids eat free, but now they are closed on sundays which I found extremely odd for a sports bar. They are friendly and the food is fine. There really is nothing that special about this place but nothing bad about it either! read more

Tried this place out because it was close to the fairgrounds & we had tickets to the light show. The pictures on here don't do it justice! Adorable inside and surprisingly very large. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were amazing!! So kind and personable and hard workers. The drinks were awesome (try the Paloma) and the French dip was to die for. Love the chips in the mug when you sit down instead of bread or popcorn! Can't wait to head back. Perfect date night spot or dinner with friends. read more

It's eponymous. It's spacious. It's delicious. Stouts Pub is housed in the old Ciatti's location NW of Har Mar Mall on Larpenteur. Upon entering one notices the spacious room. Most of the interior is wooden giving it a kind of rustic feeling. A large bar area accompanies plenty of roomy seating. No sardine in a can feeling here. Sure it benefits from a recent remodeling, but the job was done very well. Beer Yes they have beer here - go figure. They have a wide variety of premium beer many from Minnesota. Fulton Worthy Adversary jumped out at me and did not disappoint. It is a smooth sipping stout. Food I had the Stout's Dip. Basically a french dip with pepper relish and provolone cheese. It was tasty, it was large, and it was novel enough for me to appreciate it. Skin on fries made an understated yet welcome accompaniment to this sandwich. My wife had the Walleye Sandwich. Crispy with a tender flaky inside. Too large for mere mortals to eat. She made a valiant effort though. Service Pleasant , friendly and attentive. Tonight I brought a friend here for dinner because we were in the area and I was really sad about the experience we had. We sat at the bar and were served by Benjamin who greeted us with "did you want something? ". We had to ask for menus, and when I asked if there were any specials he smugly told me "nope". We ordered our drinks and food and both were tasty. My friend finished his drink faster than me and ordered a second and we were promptly given our tab before I was even asked if I wanted another. Clearly we were inconveniencing this dude so I paid the tab and went somewhere else to spend my hard earned money. If I ever go back here and I see him behind the bar, I'll walk out. I too am a bartender and I would never even consider treating people so rudely! read more

I was kinda excited to go here as the Chianti Grill that used be to where Stout's is now closed. I had a good variety of food ranging from roast turkey, ahi tuna lettuce wraps, wood-fire margherita pizza, even their flagship appetizer, 'little charlies,' which were basically sirloin steak sliders with caramelized onions and some special sauce of some kind. Here's my assessment: the food was generally pretty tasty, but was definitely overpriced. As far as woodfire pizza goes there's a lot better options. I also had an ale (Lagunitas LIttle Sumthin' Wild) from a nice list of craft-beers which was delicious but again overpriced. I'm also pretty sure it was only a 12 oz. glass. I would prefer a full pint please. The atmosphere was rich and inviting. On the other hand there's a lot better places out there with similar styles to Stout's. I dunno, I feel like they're trying to attract a 'yuppier' crowd that just doesn't give a shit. Probably not going back :( read more

Lost on me.... I've been hearing so much about this place we had to check it out. We arrived around 4:30ish on a Friday to meet up with a couple of friends. Friends were inside at the bar and the moment we walked in we were hit with a "gatekeeper" who didn't want to let us pass. Gimme some room man! I said, "our friends are right there saving us a couple of seats." And we walked over. The bar is big and the seats spacious, but too many seats for the bar itself. We're trying to look at the menu and the bartender is a little "hovery" for me. I'm not a specialty beer drinker (so this place is lost on me), so I get a Coors Light. I understand everyone there is probably new and trying to be helpful, but it was like they were trying way too hard. This is not your old Chianti Grill. The inside has been totally revamped and looks great. I was sitting there trying to remember where everything used to be in the joint. We have a beer or 2 and order some appetizers. I get the lettuce wraps and dining companion orders the little steak sandwiches. Our friends ordered the roasted vegetables, chili and seared ahi. My lettuce wraps were good, but for the $12.95 price tag, they were a little too steep for me. I understand the price as they were listed under the salads instead of apps, but still $12.95 for a grilled (which seemed more like blackened) teriyaki (which I didn't taste) breast, lettuce, soba noodles, carrots, cucumber and couple of sauces is too pricey. It was suppose to have cashews, but these were not on the plate. They would have given it a nice crunch. Plus, I was still hungry after I finished. Dining companion said his burgers were good, but greasy. Our friends really enjoyed their choices. I can't get arms around what the place is suppose to be. There isn't much around in the way of interesting and non-chains for food, but it seemed really busy for what is was providing at the price point. I'm sure it's welcome addition to the neighborhood, but the crowds at this place + the fact I'm not a specialty beer drinker + the higher than average prices do not equal a place I would go running back to visit. read more

We stopped by Stout's Pub for dinner on a warm Saturday night. The patio leaves a little to be desired, the view is pretty much the parking lot. I thought the food was decent, your average bar fare with a few surprises. I ordered their wood-fired Mediterranean pizza. It was pretty tasty and was topped with artichokes, red pepper and olives. My mom had the lettuce wraps, and I was pleasantly surprised by them. They were build-your-own and came with three dipping sauces. I would give them another try, but wasn't blown away. read more

Upon arriving, we were greeted with smile and service! The beer selection is excellent. There is a variety of different beers to choose from, but not too many that you would receive an expired brew. In addition to a vareity of different craft brews on tap, they also have a healthy selection of the domestics standards. While I did not get a meal, I did get an appetizer. It was well cooked and quite tasty. I will say is was somewhat pricey, but it's clear that the price of the beer and food is for a good reason. Well done Stouts! I'll see you again soon! read more

I grew up in Roseville. My parents still live there, so I still spend a good amount of time in that 'burb. Roseville is full of shopping and chain restaurants, but has never had a true bar. Ted's on Larpenter is a fun hole in the wall, but not the kind of place you would meet a date for drinks. As a 20-thing, if I wanted to grab a drink in Roseville I found myself at Joe Senser's, BW3, Old Chicago, or the now- closed Friday's. These are all fine places, but I always longed for a fun neighborhood bar with some character. I was excited when I found out that the old Chianti Grill location was being renovated and becoming Stout's Pub. The idea of an Irish pub in Roseville was exciting. I was really looking forward to meeting friends for a pint and some good Irish whiskeys. I'm still looking forward to that, because there is nothing Irish about Stout's. That's not entirely true - they do have Guinness on tap, and a couple Irish whiskeys. Maybe they never intended to be an Irish Pub, in which case I do not understand their concept. The outside of the building is designed to look like an Irish pub, and it's named after a beer with British and Irish roots. From the outside you think "Irish Pub." Then you walk in and think of the now- defunct Majors Sports Cafe chain. I could not have been more disappointed when I walked in and found myself at another chain-type restaurant. Based on the exterior there was some false advertising going on here. I was forced to change my expectations. This is not an Irish Pub. It's not a pub at all. It a suburban restaurant that just happens to have a bar in it. Just like the afore mentioned Joe Senser's. Despite my disappointment, Sara, Stephanie, and I had come for lunch and we were going to stay and try it. The menu was what you would expect: sandwiches, burgers, salads, apps and a few entrees. They also serve pizzas made in a wood fire oven, which seemed to be the signature item at Stout's. Stephanie enjoyed her pizza, Bombshell liked her Italian sausage sandwich, and my Greek salad was tasty. The food was good and so was the service. We weren't blown away by anything, but weren't disappointed in anything either. We got exactly what we would expect from a suburban bar and grill. Right on par with the other options in Roseville. There is nothing wrong with Stout's if you're looking for a non-descript restaurant to take the family for a good meal. However, if you're looking for an Irish Pub you will find yourself disappointed and thirsty. read more

What a surprise, another Gastro Pub in St. Paul. I'm sure one day they'll go out of style and we'll see a lot of vacant spaces, but for now, pub lovers should just enjoy the ride. Stouts is a neat little pub, but has almost a suburban feel to it, which I dont feel is a bad thing, but it's just different then what I normally look for out of a pub. The beer selection was nice, but it wont overwhelm you. Beer snobs will find something they like, but they won't be amazed. We split a order of buffalo wings which were standard wings. They had a bunch of small plates that looked interesting, including beef Jerky. I kind of wish I got some Jerky. I ordered the fish n chips. As far as fish n chips go, it was ok. If I'm going to drive down here for Fish n chips though, I'd just go to macs. What I really wanted to order was the Stouts Dip, but I had just had an italian beef for lunch. My buddy did order the dip, and I felt jealous. My wife got the Salmon and she enjoyed her meal. The vegetables were roasted, but she didn't care for them. I took a bite of her roasted potato and pepper and thought it was good. Services was ok, not great, not bad, but ok. I would come back, but it's not going to steal a lot of my business from other Pubs in St. Paul. read more

We tried Stout's for the first time tonight on the recommendation of a friend, and found it an enjoyable experience. We sat inside, and if there was anything negative, it was that the music was a bit too loud for relaxed conversation. It did drown out overhearing from any other tables. The magnetic poetry in our booth was kind of fun. If you like sports, there were four different sports channels visible on TVs viewable from where I sat. The staff were responsive, and very efficient at replenishing drinks unobtrusively. They also didn't push hard on making us order things we didn't want. We each had a soft drink, skipping any appetizer. My companion had a Caesar salad and Fish & Chips; I had a garden salad with my Lamb stew. The food was excellent, but you do need to ask that salads be brought out first; it was brought with the entrée, making a somewhat crowded table area. The amount of fries with the fish was perfect, and the lamb stew was seasoned just right. I got a box for half of my stew to save room for dessert. We ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was pleased to discover that it wasn't some huge, overly-sweet confection, but smaller, 1/2-cup size of a dark chocolate cake, with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Just the right size, and an adult flavor. We would gladly go back, though we might sit outside if the weather were good, just to avoid the ambient volume. read more

We also tried the homemade potato chips. Stout's is my FAVORITE local spot. However, I always belly up so I can't comment on what table service is like. Bartenders (most of them) are the best. The bill can add up, coming for happy hour helps which ends at 6pm...starts again at 9 (weekdays). Few favorites: -Pub Shrooms are awesome....served with a dipping sauce (chipotle mayo?) -Nachos are fantastic. -Walleye Sammy is great...but HUGE - make sure you have a big appetite if you order this guy. -TOMATO SOUP is the best I've ever had EVER, and I'm not even big on tomato soup. read more

Oh Stouts, you are so reliable. A large selection of beer, good mixed drinks, serviceable bar food, and readily accommodating large groups make you a favorite place for theatre students to visit post rehearsal. Is your beer selection large? Hell yes. An impressive rotating on tap menu is available with local beers featured. Are your bartenders reliable? Yeah. My friend likes to order drinks that were popular way back in the day but aren't so much now. They graciously put up with needing to clarify what the drinks are. Is your service generally good? Definitely. We've surprised them many a night with tables of 6 or more and we were seated quickly and served well. Much better than some of the chain restaurant options in the area. Is your food steller? No. I've never particularly craved any of your offerings. Nothing to write home about on the menu. If you want to go just for food rather than atmosphere or drinks, you're going to be disappointed more often than pleased. I wish a 3.5 star option was available. I am bumping up to a 4 because I've never been disappointed by Stouts. read more

I love the selection of local beers! Great variety and the servers are pretty knowledgeable about the beer selection. The appetizer menu is top notch. The burgers are perfect. I'd recommend the black-n-bleu or the mushroom and swiss. Mmm. Last time I went there, I had a steak sandwich. I ordered it medium-rare. Usually when I order something med-rare, it comes out medium-well. To my amazement, the steak was cooked exactly as I ordered it and was well seasoned. The steak sandwich is a carnivore's dream. Pretty much just steak and a ciabatta roll. That is all that is necessary if it's done right. read more

Best thing to say about this place was that they have some pretty awesome onion rings. They seemed to have been battered in doughnut batter because they puffed up like a balloon. the breading had a unique taste to it that I really enjoyed. They were very filling though, I had one and a half and thought it was too much too handle. They also have a good selection of draft, and a few flights to choose from. The menu looked decent, but a little pricey for bar food. I ordered a sausage pizza that was $3 off for happy hour trying to save a few bucks. It was pretty good, nothing about it blew me away, maybe I just didn't have a good appetite that night. it was a crispy thin crust that seemed to be home made. It just isn't a place I would go out of my way to come back to. We did have a good time playing trivia there, so maybe I will come back for that. Nothing about the place made it stand out. It seemed like a franchise, not sure if it is or not but I never like the feel of a franchise restaurant. I'm always looking for somewhere unique with their own flare and creative identity. Not a bad spot to grab some food if you're nearby. Just be sure to order those O-Rings!! read more

I have been here several times over the last 4 years or so. Large menu, huge portions, decent pricing. Tonight showed up with a group of 10, normally more than 4 - 6 people messes with the wait staff and kitchen. Liz and the kitchen nailed it. I love this place! I stop by regularly, about once a week or so, and have sat in both the restaurant and at the bar. I avoid the bar if it's crowded: they have a few too many seats, so it can be an uncomfortable fit. That said, their food is great and their beer selection is phenomenal. Yes, there are pubs with a wider selection of craft beers, but Stouts has made some excellent choices and you'll find something for any taste. They have a good, representative sample of local beers available, all on tap. Outside of the beer, they make great cocktails, and don't skimp on their strength. Their bar staff is also very friendly and responsive. If you stop in for lunch, I seriously recommend sitting at the bar. All of the food I've tried so far is very good. The burgers are quite tasty, as are their shrimp and slider appetizers. read more

Stouts isn't just the best bar in Falcon Heights it's the only bar in falcon heights. Full service restaurant and bar with amazing 24 tap beer list and full bar. Try the infused bloodies. I'm not much into bloodies but they now have me hooked. For food, the sliders and fish and chips are always a win. The pig wings are worth trying too if you like your pork ribs. Service is excellent the only downside is that they close at like 12 or 1. read more

Stout's is my go-to place for casual client luncheons. Service is quick, tables are almost always available, and the menu is approachable. I order different things nearly every time I go and everything I've ordered has been good. The one must-try is their potato chips. Comes with a totally unhealthy, but delicious dipping sauce. I'm withholding the 5th star only because the food is a little basic. Their cook/chef must have some skills based on what I've had, so it would be nice to see a little creativity. For instance, the daily special last time I was there was a turkey sandwich with guacamole. I feel like they could do better. They also have a solid beer selection with many local brews on tap. Easy parking too. In short - think Applebees type food, but better tasting, fresher, and a way less annoying atmosphere. read more

We're pretty regular here as we live really close. For the most part, I have all good things to say. They have a great, rotating beer selection, and the food is good for the price. Brunch on Sundays is awesome - get a bloody mary and French toast. The BEST bloody mary I have ever had. On the dinner menu, we love the cheese curds, reuben pizza, proud stout burger, and the potato chips. The potato chips! Pretty sure they are cut there and are served with an awesome bacon aioli. They have trivia on Wednesdays, which is always fun, but can sometimes be hard to hear when there are big groups nearby. Unfortunately, the service is completely hit or miss. Some servers that we know who have been there for a while are awesome, always helpful, informative, and knowledgable about the beer. On the other hand, some just seem like they could care less if they get a tip or not they are so bare minimum with the service. That being said, sitting at the bar seems to basically guarantee consistently good service. read more

Went here for the first time, and my experience was decent. Our server was friendly and informed us the kitchen closes at 10. We appreciated knowing this since we didn't want anything from their nighttime menu. I had a hoppy beer flight (three 5 ounce beers for $6) which is quite reasonable. I enjoyed the beer diversity! To start we had the fried pickles with remulad which was really good. These came out quickly! My entree was the Stouts dip (a french dip with some peppers). The sandwich was good and the fries were average. The reason for the lower rating is that I wasn't particularly blown away by anything. Food and service were good, and I would come back. But Stouts would not be my first choice for food or beer. read more

A few friends and myself went here to watch the Vikings vs. Packers game last night. (urgh) and it was a surprisingly good experience. My boyfriend and I have driven past this place a few times and wanted to try it out. Despite the sub-par reviews, it may be a hit or miss experience. A highlight was the service we were provided. Our server was named Taylor and he was great. It's sad how hard it is to experience good service at a restaurant nowadays and he restored some faith back in me. We went on "Ladies Night" and the specials were great. The local beer pint selection was great and satisfied everyone at the table. We ordered cheese curds which were a bit on the salty side but hey, it's greasy carbs on a plate what can you expect? We also ordered a pizza and that was delicious as weel. If you are in the area I would recommend giving this place a try. I want to go back and try something else on the menu. Oh, and if Taylor is working ask to sit in his section he will make your dining experience much more enjoyable. read more

Our first trip to Stouts pub was due to a coupon we received for a free pizza. I cannot day enough about the 1) service, 2) food quality and 3) price. Steve the chef accommodated a specialty order keeping 2 slices of our pizza cheese only. Our server, Tara Was quite possibly the nicest most genuine server ever. We ordered the supreme pizza and it was Sooo flavorful! I would order pizza from them any day. We will be back for sure!! read more

The food is bad. I think they expect you to get drunk on the drink specials, and then you can't tell how bad the food is. I would sit at the bar and order pizza out if I needed to stop in for a meal. I'm just amazed that they keep the doors open. If you want a beer, then stop by. If you want to eat, then just get some Ipecac and save yourself the trouble. read more
