OK, they have some genius ideas here at Stoup Brewing. First - why serve their own food when they can have a rotating crop of food trucks out front. GENIUS I say! They have many selections including cider. I'm not much of a drinker but I tried a couple of the IPAs and they were refreshing and wonderful. The staff were helpful and attentive. Though I don't have a dog, I like that this place is dog-friendly. There were a bunch of sweet pooches available to pet. I've been coming here a bit more often recently since it's my girl friend's and my little meeting spot since COVID. They are doing an excellent job with social distancing and making their customers feel safe. There's lots of outdoor seating and sectioned off areas on both the first and second floor. Parties of 5 or less can be seated together and you receive a card that you flip over when you leave so that they know the area needs to be sanitized. There are also arrows on the floor so you know which direction to walk in so that you don't bump into anyone. The beer is great. They have a good amount of options for everyone, but the German Pilsner is my favorite! The staff are always friendly and helpful when you need drink recommendations. They also have a fire pit! Had been a bit of time since I went to Stoup and I love all the cool areas to sit that they have created since my last visit. Great beer garden, upstairs area with a deck and there main tasting room. The main tasting room has 21 beers on tap, while the other two areas have 4. Beer can be purchased to the main tasting room and brought out to the beer garden so you can find your fav. This place is a perfect brewery!! Tons of beers on tap, very friendly beertenders, and lots of variety. The beertenders were quick and attentive. Especially when they became very busy for about an hour. They had a great system of calling out beers, pouring, and running the register. Spout is in a warehouse with a huge garage door that opens to the street. They had a taco truck visiting and the ambiance was just perfect. I'd go back and I highly recommend them! read more

We popped into here after hitting Reuben's. I love the cute patio area but wandered upstairs to find a pretty awesome spot that overlooks the patio. The stoop at the Stoup, if you will. It's a good spot to people watch. I enjoyed the mosaic pale ale that I had - The hubs got something else that he liked as well. Great COVID precautions in place. The staff was great at keeping the flow of people where it needs to be. It was freezing out but we were fine in our private tented area. Visited Stoup for the first time and really enjoyed it. My friend and I brought my dog to enjoy some beer on the patio, and ended up both ordering the Space Garden IPA. It was definitely busy on a Saturday afternoon, so I wish the tables were a little more spread apart but I still felt comfortable with the environment. Grungy garage atmosphere with lots of great artistic visuals everywhere. Strange that most of their beers didn't actually have names. Most were simply and concisely listed by style with ABV, IBU, SRM and prices for pours following that. Tap list wasn't as impressive, but most styles offered leaned towards bitter and hoppy. Order your tasters a la carte. We still opted for 5 of the most interesting sounding beers. Most tasters are $2, some $3. Worthwhile beers: Citra IPA, Mosaic Pale (although thin), Bag O' Tricks DIPA Enjoyed the atmosphere well enough to give it 4-stars, but really closer to 3.7. Stoup Brewing is one of our favorite Ballard breweries. They consistently have a large selection of delicious beers and a food truck outside. They have great spaces both inside and upstairs. Upstairs is 21+ only except for the bathrooms which is nice if you're looking for a kid free experience. Where I think they really shine though is the outside space. Plenty of varied seating options for both 1-2 people and groups of 10 or more. An awesome fire pit makes those chilly fall evenings a perfect experience. Much of the seating is covered too. Like most breweries in the area it's street parking only, but they do have a great bike rack which can accommodate those bigger e-bikes with all the accessories. They're also really great with kids and there's plenty of soda and juice options to treat the little ones. If you're looking for a brewery in Ballard, Stoup really should be on your list! read more

Good time here! Deceivingly spacious brewery with an up and downstairs section. They're one of the more popular local brewers around town, as you can find their beers on the menu in several restaurants (such as 8oz Burger). We were on our own personal hopping tour around this microbrewery district, so in an effort to ensure I'd be able to physically make it to the next stop, I only tried one beer, lol, which was their Citra IPA, and it was A1. What I also really liked about here was the different sizes they offered for purchase of beer. You had your standard 16, but there was 12oz and small 5oz taster sizes. I'm used to being able to buy 5oz in a set as a flight, but it was nice being able to buy it individually for any flavor. And it was super cheap with most being $2! All the beer was very reasonable actually. My Seattle friends raved about this brewery the most, so it's a local fave! read more

Stoup Hefeweizen is probably my most fav hef in PNW! I usually end up ordering one in bars around Seattle, but somehow I had not been to the Stoup brewing location. Yesterday I came here with my cousin who was visiting, and I am so glad I did. He absolutely loved the beer. You order at the counter and then go find a spot to sit. Both - upstairs deck and patio garden are amazing! Patio is easy to miss, so ask when you order to be sure. We chose the upstairs, which has barrel shaped bar tables and stools. It also also has its own small bar so you don't have to walk up and down. It's a great spot in summer. It's kid friendly and great for large groups. All of breweries in Ballard have a food truck parked next to them. You can buy some food and have it with your beer in the brewery! Obec and Ruben are in the same block so you can easily brewery-hop in the area! read more

Stoup is a laid back local brewery spot with solid microbrews. If you like IPA variety they usually have 7-10 different ipa options. They do offer pilsners, pale ales and other beer types as well. This occasion and pictured is their German Pilsner which is light, crisp and very drinkable. The downstairs is very open, think large cool hipster garage, turned brewery. You can often see the brewers at work just behind the seating and tap area which is cool. The upstairs has a nice 'Stoup' and is more private and can host events. I can see why the reviews are very good for this brewery. It's a really cool spot and set up. There is also a food truck right in front of the brewery. They offer a lot more seating than its neighbor, Reuben's brews, and when I visited they had a huge projector/screen, showing World Cup semi finals game (and this place was packed). Three star rating isn't bad by any means but it's a bit unfortunate because if their beers were even slightly better, I would have easily given a 4. I got some tasters so I got to try a few of their offerings and they were all... just meh. Not terrible but not good. Their IPA was probably the most disappointing for me because it had some off flavors in it. I haven't been to Stoup since COVID restrictions but they've done a really nice job spacing out areas to accommodate social distancing. Totally changed from the early days as the concentration of breweries in this locale has increased whilst the density of hipsters and millennials as increased x-fold in Ballard. The beer diversity here is more toward IPA where in before was Belgian and more European. There's more of a crowded hipster / tourist vibe going on so no relaxing going on in the weekends. The TV is the size of a laptop so the quality of sports and Olympic coverage just sucks here. The big draw to me is I have a seat at the bar and can just lay back and have guys lean over my shoulder saying, "Can I have a napkin!". Then come back screaming, "Hey You, can I have a napkin!". I decided to visit Stoup Brewing after learning it was owned by a Cicerone, which is the beer equivalent training of a Sommelier. I was pleased when I arrived seeing it was an open concept brewpub with large doors, a food truck in front, and no division between the brewery and the tap handles. Nestled just north of Seattle, the setting was beautiful on a Summer day. I tried the Baltic Porter first, which is an European Lager derived from the famous British styled Ale. The goal of a Baltic Porter is to combine roast, coffee flavors with smooth lager fermentation character, along with high alcohol content. The Stoup Baltic Porter was delicious. Stoup only sells this beer in smaller ounce pours--probably because of the cost of brewing or because of the alcohol content. Nevertheless, it is well worth trying. The second beer I tried was the Lupúlo Pale Ale, which is an American Pale Ale brewed with native hops from New Mexico. It was delightful. The beer was dry, balanced between bitterness and sweetness, and bursting with hop flavor. The hop aroma and flavor reminded me of mango, cotton candy, and tropical fruit. It was one of the best beers I have tasted in a long time. Stoup is a great new brewery and I hope they eventually distribute beyond their pub. A visit to Stoup is well worth your time if you love good beer. read more
