Extremely disappointed with customer service. I had booked a move for July 31st but had to cancel…read moreit because of a family emergency. I called MULTIPLE TIMES throughout MULTIPLE DAYS. Now, I checked the hours and thought "well, maybe the hours have changed due to COVID, so I'll call later in the day to see if they'll pick up." They didn't. The first few times I called, no one answered and I tried to leave a voicemail. Mailbox was full. Understandable. I call the next morning, no one picks up, and I was able to leave a voicemail. Sounds to me like they emptied the mailbox which was great. I wait two days, and no one calls me back. I call several more times, and leave another voicemail. I WAIT TWO MORE DAYS, AND NO ONE PICKED UP. In my voicemail, I also wanted to ask if the $100 I deposited was refundable because when you book a move, you need to put a $100 to secure your booking. So, I got fed up of waiting to call the next day and sent an email asking to cancel my move and ask if I could be refunded. I wake up this morning to an email, an AUTOMATED EMAIL, that my move was canceled. Okay, that's good. My original objective was done. However, the fact that no one wanted to answer my simple question of a refund was already making me angry. I called this morning twice to ask about the refund. And again, it went straight to voicemail. The first few times I called, I figured it was because of COVID and I'd been lenient. But now that it's been over a week, I'm done being patient. Had someone picked up to tell me they're understaffed or even mentioned it in the voicemail, I would've understood. 1) ALL of my calls were ignored and NO ONE thought to call me back even AFTER I left two voicemails 2) They clearly didn't care when I voiced my concerns in an email that I simply wanted answers for a refund and a cancellation. Cancellation was done but I guess they figured it would be easier to just cancel the move without having to deal with a paying customer. 3) I had heard great things about this moving company and saw so many great reviews about their services. This was a huge let down. Customer service is a big part of what makes someone want to pay for your services. Next time, when I move, I think I'll just stick to moving furniture myself.

I was put off by the attitude of the one mover, they sent three. He was the one in charge. He for…read moresure knew what he was doing with moving things and had to direct the other two. It was just incredibly stressful and I could not wait for them to be gone. I'm older. I used to be able to do things on my own and I can't anymore. Letting people into your home and handling your personal things is stressful in itself. I felt the leader was disrespectful and made fun of me being older. I'm not sure why that's ok in today's society but it seems so. He made constant noises and when he called for me to ask a question it was in a high pitched weird voice, sort of imitating a cat. I did at one point tell him I was not sure if I should be offended by his high pitched woman voice imitation- trying to give him notice to stop. He did not. It did seem as his two helpers were made a little uncomfortable by it also. They moved my stuff, thought it was made more stressful than it needed to be, and I probably won't use them again. The person I spoke to on the phone was polite - too bad he didn't do the move.

A few days before my rental, U-Haul asked me to transport one of their trailers for a promised $100 payment. However, when I arrived to pick up my truck, the offer was suddenly withdrawn without explanation. My rental was scheduled from May 31 to June 2, 2026. When I arrived at the location where I had made my reservation, the representative did not introduce themselves and simply informed me that my truck had been moved to another location, wasting my time and requiring an additional trip. At the second location, another representative failed to explain the rental process and placed a $100 hold on my card without mentioning it beforehand. The truck was delivered with only a quarter tank of fuel and the check engine light already on. I immediately called U-Haul to report the issue. My original drop-off location was Daytona Beach, but when my plans changed, I called ahead and informed U-Haul that I would be returning the truck to Gainesville. Only then was I told that changing the return location would alter my contract and increase my charges. This was never explained when I picked up the vehicle. Despite returning the truck a full day early, U-Haul kept my $100 deposit, told me I owed an additional $37, and has now sent another bill for approximately $67 while threatening a $30 late fee if it is not paid promptly. The lack of communication, surprise charges, poor customer service, and constantly changing information made this one of the worst rental experiences I have ever had. I left feeling misled and frustrated, and I will not be using U-Haul again.

I picked up a trailer here and was astonished at the helpfulness, friendliness and professionalism of the staff. (On top of that this place is the Disney World of U-Haul as it is very clean and spacious).

Everything was handled via email and phone...no problems at all. Move-in and out was quick and painless. There are a few storage places in the Gainseville area but this one is conveniently located in a not too busy area.

Last year, when I…read morefirst started using this location, I would have given it four stars, but things have drastically changed. The property is fine and relatively well-kept even. It is, however, difficult to get trucks in and out due to the layout. If there's too many people already at the facility accessing their units, you'll have a really difficult, if not impossible, time getting around with your car or truck. The office staff does rounds pretty frequently to check on things. Security is standard and I've had no issues. Some of the buildings have structural cracks in the flooring that look concerning but I don't know if it's a big issue or not. The bigger problem is that Devon Self-storage is private equity. If you're unfamiliar with that, in my experience so far, it means that the owner(s) can do what they want when they want. An example is their rates. Their rates seem great on the website. That's what got me to rent with Devon in the first place. They seem cheaper than a lot of places around town. But I've had my rates raised every six months since I moved in. My most recent rate increase was $42. That was on a unit that I just moved into in June 2026. I was paying $182. The rent will increase October 1st to $224 (with insurance it will be $242). They also owe me $146.47 as a refund when I moved out of one of their other units back in June. I've attempted to address the issue repeatedly with Chris the manager. He continues to refuse to address it. Initially Chris was great. Not sure what happened. There is a new person in the office now in addition to Chris and she's very nice but wasn't thoroughly trained and unable to help directly with a lot of issues. She just passes it along to Chris. So I cannot in good faith recommend this particular Devon Self Storage. Maybe the other ones are better but I have heard that they raise their rates often just like this one. I've waited months for my issues to be addressed. Renter beware!
