THINK TWICE BEFORE HIRING BIGSTEELBOX We took possession of…read moreour brand new home in September 2024 and had our BigSteelBox delivered on the same day. The driveway was damaged during delivery of the BigSteelBox caused by the deck of the truck, which was captured on video. bigsteelbox.com states that "the BigSteelBox doesn't actually make contact with your driveway at all. No contact means no damage!". This may be true but what they don't tell you is that the deck of the truck may make contact with the driveway and cause noticeable damage. We reached out to BigSteelBox and provided videos along with some photos of the damage. The manager came by the house to review the damage and mentioned that he would acquire some quotes to determine the repair cost. From what I can tell, he only received quotes for the application of a brush on patch. From the research I've done and discussions I've had with local concrete companies, I understand that a patch is only a temporary fix that would stand out from the rest of the driveway. I tried explaining this to the manager and said that we would not be satisfied with a brush on patch. Being a new driveway, we didn't think it was unreasonable to expect BigSteelBox to return the driveway to a reasonably new state that looked consistent and uniform. We provided a quote to the manager from a local company to have the driveway sandblasted and sealed which was less costly than having the damaged section of the driveway replaced. The manager came back with an offer of $600 to cover the cost of a brush on patch and would not consider any other options. As an analogy, if someone broke your window, would you be satisfied with a duct tape patch as the repair? I've also sent emails to feedback@bigsteelbox.com and admin@bigsteelbox.com to hopefully reach some kind of fair resolution but did not receive a reply. Needless to say, we are very disappointed with the customer service we received from BigSteelBox and hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Beware of new management! I had my trailer at this storage…read moresince 2017 and also referred a couple of other people there. Super happy with this facility until May 2025 when the owners decided to disappear without notice and simply advised they hired managers for day-to day operations. They also advised they will be "improving and expanding" the facility and increasing the storage rate by 20% (hey, they need to pay for the upgrades, right?). Bitter news but I was happy to hear about regrading and reconditioning of the lot to improve surface quality because every time after rain/ in spring, there was always a lake around my trailer. Due to reconditioning, we had to move trailer to a new temporary spot. Imagine our surprise when we came to move the trailer and found out they cut our lock off and moved our trailer themselves - without our knowledge or notifying us. We then had to chase the new "managers" for lock replacement for over a month. Eventually they replaced it with lock of their choice which is inferior to one I had on the hitch before. When I first saw the new "upgraded" stall, I noticed the stall was much smaller (shorter and narrower) than the original one. To my disappointment, there were many water puddles on the ground (it was just after the rain) so the reconditioning in my opinion made no improvement. In the new stall, I was no longer able to access the interior of my trailer without attaching it to the vehicle and move it out of the stall. This is because the entrance staircase in our trailer doesn't fold, you simply have to lift the whole staircase and stack it in the doorway. I sent an email to the owners/new management with my concern and asked if there is an option to get an end stall so I don't have to always hook up the trailer to the vehicle when I need to go inside. I also wanted to discuss my upcoming rent fee - I always paid in 1 annual payment but I was not budgeting for 20% increase. I received no reply. Sent another email, still no reply. Since my renewal was coming up in July I did not follow up again thinking I soon will receive renewal payment reminder and invoice like in the past. My payment day came and went, and I still have not heard back from the management. At the beginning of August 2025, I received text from person I never heard from to contact them about my trailer. He introduced himself as Anton, another new manager, and was looking for the payment. I explained I sent a couple of emails and tried to contact previous managers but received no reply so I don't even know how much money to send and to whom. He did not know anything about the previous managers and said he never saw my emails but explained fee structure and agreed over the phone that due to hike, I can pay half of the annual fee on August 15 and half on August 31. In few days he called again and said that the end stall is available, if I am interested. I said yes, we will come and move the trailer shortly. In my head I thought - funny, he must saw my emails, otherwise, why would he offering me stall I asked for in the emails? On August 8, I received email request for signature for new contract with Oak Shelter. We had busy weekend, did not have time to look at it. But I was surprised why am received a new contract as I signed contract in 2017. On August 13 I received a call from Anton, looking for payment and signed contract. I said I did not have time to look at the contract yet and asked for a reason for new contract. He said it is due to new stall number and increased fee. I said that is interesting because when I dealt with the original owners in the past, my stall number and fees changed but it was always just acknowledged by email confirmation, and I never signed any new contracts. That's when his whole attitude changed. He snapped back at me over the phone "whatever, don't sign it then". Then mentioned again that I have not yet paid my storage fee. I reminded him he agreed to wait till August 15 for the payment. Anton started to say he does not recall anything like that and I have no proof he said that. I was in shock how easily he lied. I reviewed the new contract yesterday and this morning I sent Anton email with a few questions about it since 1 page of the contract I am supposed to initial was illegible and also contract was noting that storage will have absolutely zero liability for any damages to my property, even if caused solely by their negligence. That seems unusual given the damages would be caused by their employees so I wanted to clarify I understand it correctly and asked for copy of their Certificate of Insurance. In a few minutes I received email reply back. It was Notice of Termination as I am obviously very unhappy and difficult to deal with. Like seriously? This is totally disappointing. And I will not recommend this storage to anyone. Stay away while Anton manages it

My mother booked this company to ship a piano to me back in September, 2025…read more They do not attempt to communicate with you. When we call or email asking for updates, we get lies. "Mike" tells us he's been trying to communicate, so he receives calls, texts, and emails from us that get through, but if he does pick up the phone, he says he's been calling, but no one answers. This is an obvious lie. All phones register numbers of rejected calls, and we have lists of numbers that are blocked. Their phone numbers are not blocked, and there is no record of an attempted call from this company. So it's all either lies, or just shows that he is completely incompetent. He has our phone numbers, and has talked, but somehow he can't dial us back? It's now the verge of January 2026, and I have no idea if we'll ever see my mother's piano again.

I was extremely disappointed in the service and wouldn't recommend or use their services again. If you decide to use these movers, make sure you get an exact quote beforehand." After posting this review, the company reached out--not to apologize or make things right--but to argue about my experience. Nothing was ever rectified. To make matters worse, they later commented that they had no record of me and even requested the review be removed. First, perhaps you should consider requesting cash only from clients; that way, you might have a clearer understanding of who is or isn't in your records. Second, you should take the time to review how much a person was overcharged due to pure negligence and recognize how that kind of service can impact your business long term. Take care of people. Repeat and referral business is everything. Finally, send movers who are professional, experienced, and capable of representing your company in a way that builds trust--not damages it.
