I chose them for their competitive price, clean facilitiy, and convenient location near the Interstate. Both Casey and David, the two site managers, have been terrific. I dabble in eBay sales, and feel comfortable having people come to the storage unit to pay for and pick up their items (much better than having strangers come to the house). Casey was super in helping us figure out what size space we needed, and in July she helped me figure out how to package a large, awkward package for shipping. David was recently very cheerful in helping me understand the terms of my contract, so that I don't incur extra charges when I move out next month. I'm sorry that a previous viewer had a negative experience, but I have had nothing but positive things to say about East Lyme Rent-A-Space.(not to nitpick her comments, but there is a sign clearly posted on the dumpster that it is for cardboard only).

I paid with a credit card and manager told me there was no way he could help me out because they were not set up to refund. Whatever. I found a place much less expensive and twice the size. The next time, the representative told me to try online and use my phone number. So...extremely helpful. try online, system didn't recognize my number online. So now I have to go in person again. I made it clear that I had a lot of large, heavy furniture and I also told them the sizes of the two storage units that I wanted emptied and brought to my new house. I specifically asked if it would all fit and if they would make multiple trips. I was quoted a price for six hours including tax. They did bring most of the large, heavy stuff but took NONE of the boxes. Now I am left to empty half of a 10x25 unit in MANY trips in my car. Not only that, but one of the movers spent a lot of time trying to get out a splinter (using tweezers that I offered) and using the bathroom and the other guy stood around waiting for him. This caused me to be charged for an extra hour. I'm grateful for what they did, but it wasn't as much as I was expecting. I'm older and on a limited budget so I went with the lower priced option because she said they would handle it, but they didn't and now my arthritic knees and back are paying for it.

But when…read moreI was a customer, it had... issues. --Several of the entrance/exit doors were out of order from the day I moved my stuff in to the day I moved out (maybe two years later.) --On the day I moved out, I entered the facility to see a bicycle parked in the entranceway. It was there when I left. --In Feb of 2024, I stayed all night packing my stuff, took any trash and swept out my cube, all while the couple in the adjacent cube had a big, loud fight. I sent an email notifying the manager (Denisha) that I had moved out. She responded by telling me she couldn't close out my cube and would be charging me until I "removed my trash from the hallway" and took my bicycle. After dutifully turning over continually rising rent to this facility and not causing a single problem, I was appalled at this manager's attitude and malevolence. There was no reason for her to pin any of that on me. They have cameras. If she's still there, beware. Document your cube's condition on move-out. Don't let her gaslight you.

The owners have refused to refund rent for a failed climate controlled storage unit. My belongings have been damaged.
