The place warrants more time than I had that day. The market is immense with a dizzying selection of items. I was amazed walking down the condiment/sauce aisle with more choices than I'd seen elsewhere. I noticed products that were new to me, like black chickens. I learned from a Google search that it's a natural genetic condition causing excessive pigmentation. Apparently the black flesh has a stronger, deeper and slightly gamey flavor with meat that's tender and juicy. Prices seemed fair, business was brisk, and I for one, will return! I'm sure some on staff speak English, but the employees I came across, did not.

I visited around 1:30pm and, unlike many busy markets in Flushing, the atmosphere was lively without feeling chaotic or overcrowded. Maybe i was there at the time? Their fresh produce section is extensive, seafood selection impressive, and there is an abundance of Asian snacks, sauces, noodles, frozen specialties, and hard-to-find ingredients from across Asia. Prices were also quite reasonable considering the quality and variety. This said, their tiger fish was at $54.50 a pound which is on the high end of the market. A major plus is the excellent food court, offering a wide range of delicious options perfect for a quick lunch or snack after shopping. Overall, JMart delivers a very Asian authentic shopping experience right in the heart of Flushing. This is the go to place for my mother in law.

I even purposely left the items I had purchased from 99 Ranch Market outside, along with the receipt, to avoid any misunderstanding. Despite that, the security guard still insisted on searching my personal tote. I didn't want to make a scene, so I simply opened the bag and showed him briefly. This made my shopping experience very uncomfortable and frustrating. I have no time to deal with this kind of unnecessary confrontation while shopping. If this is the store's policy, please post the policy clearly at the entrance so customers know before entering. Otherwise, please train your security staff to treat customers with more respect and professionalism. There's no shortage of Asian supermarkets in NYC, especially in Flushing. Customers seeking Chinese…read moregroceries are luckily spoilt for choice compared to most of the country. DC Market (德昌DeChang in Chinese) is one of many places to shop, and they specialize in meat and takeout meals. This location is similar in size to their Chinatown location, though Flushing has more of a rectangular layout in contrast to the long narrow layout in Ctown. Their butcher counter is pretty much unparalleled compared to other Asian supermarkets with the exception of maybe large format Hmarts. DC carries a wide breadth of edible animal products both au naturel and marinated, including more familiar meats such as pork chops, short rib, flank steak, sea bass, running the gamut to less commonly appreciated though edible parts like frog legs, pork lung and hocks, beef tongue, whelk. Marinated specialties like tangerine peel minced beef and pork ribs in pickled plum sauce caught my attention, among many others. The second largest section is the ready-to-eat food section, with items pre-portioned in takeout containers, priced by the container. This area is composed of several counters with a wide selection of steamed, deep-fried, baked, sautéed and stewed dishes, all categories covered--vegetables, meats, carbs, savory and sweet--food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overall food quality is not quite on par with good restaurants as some other reviews mention, though not too bad if you're looking for a quick simple meal. Aside from aforementioned meat, some seafood, and takeout, they have a suitable breadth of fresh produce, refrigerated/chilled, dried and frozen foods. What you don't find too much here are packaged snacks and processed foods, which I suppose is a good thing.
