I've heard great reviews about this sandwich spot in Astoria. I finally stopped by after being in…read morethe neighborhood for an event. I ordered THE BOMB to-go (as it's highly mentioned). As I took it out the store, it was like I was holding a bomb in my hands. It's literally massive! Unfortunately, I didn't have cash, so I did pay the up charge... But the $20+ is worth it since it is so big & can feed you for 2-3 meals! The Bomb sandwich is made with a hero bread that is like the length of my forearm! It has all the cold cuts you can possible think of (with several pieces of each one). Then comes the veggies like lettuce/tomato. The thing that is unique here is that they add peppers. The peppers add a spicy/sweet/tarty kick to the whole sandwich & it balances the taste really well. The sandwich can definitely be cut into 4 pieces & very well feed 4 different people and they would feel satisfied. It's also very tall so you really need to open your mouth wide to bite into the sandwich. Overall, the food is great! It does live up to the hype & it's a try-at-least-once kinda sandwich. Despite all the ingredients they put in there, the workers literally put everything together in minutes & really wrap it up nicely like it's an art form. They have been doing this for years & it really shows.

Where do I begin??! First of all i must thank my Yelp buddy…read moreSuper K for recommending Sals!! Absolutely delicious subs!! Better than Katz and Carnegie!! Sandwiches are huge!! Its possible to share a sandwich with a friend. My favorite is the da bomb or pastrami. I love dipping mine in Italian dressing.... Service is great! Located in the Astoria part of NYC. You might have to wait but its worth it!! They don't take plastic!!! You need cash!! Oh yeah no place to sit ..so take it the park.. so after you eat you can take a stroll and not feel guilty!

Surprised to see the negative reviews here, as I've been consistently ordering from George's and…read morehaven't noticed a decline in quality. I stopped in here on my long walk to Astoria park to enjoy the gorgeous weather and was promptly served. My typical go-to's at George's are the 114 (a BLT with an egg and avocado on whole wheat toast with mayo), their hot start breakfast wrap (chipotle chicken, egg whites, pepper jack cheese and avocado), or a chopped cheese which they do very well here. But on this day I was more in the mood for something simple - a roast beef on a roll with lettuce, mayo, salt, and pepper. This deli might be one of the last affordable bodegas that offer quality ingredients. Their deli meats aren't the cheap stuff, this roast beef was moist and tender, with that pink in the middle instead of the grey you find at other spots. My sandwich also came to just under $7, which I think is a solid deal for the amount of meat they pile on here. Service here is prompt, even when I order delivery I never wait longer than a half hour or so, which is a record for this area. Inside, they have a ton of snack options, pretty much anything you could possibly be in the mood for to pair with your sandwich. I appreciate that in addition to typical sandwich fare they also have fried options like buffalo wings or fries, if you're in the mood to be really bad.

This is another Deli & Grill but they are going by Hollis Deli Number One. The is not your ordinary…read morebodega. They offer so much more! Walking in, you are most definitely noticed and greeted! I like that concept for the mere fact, if you are ordering from bodegas they let you order at the food counter, in my experience, but this D&G's take on a more direct approach by speaking and asking how they can help you, more like steering you in the right direction sking with gathering enough information to complete the sale. For instance I said that I wanted a Sausage, egg, n , cheese. I told him 3 egg whites, with the sausage links. Instead of putting it on any bread, the most important question was asked. Do you want it on a roll or hero, a key question to satisfy the customer and to provide satisfactory customer service. A key component in retaining customers. As I looked around the casual atmosphere to gathering information so that I may be well informed, I found some cookies that made me feel nostalgic in the best way. I was compelled to buy the Duplex Cremes, see photo! I also searched for the bigger pack of Biscoff, my new found favorite but they only had one selection and it was a mini pack. This store was less chaotic, smaller than the Merrick store, more organized and consistent with exemplary customer service. If I'm in the area, I'll return. An improvement would be to have bigger bags of cookies, like the Biscoff, other than that I'm satisfied and eagerly await the next opportunity to ..... Inspire more, Yelp more!

I used to come here a lot when I was a kid, and back then the food honestly wasn't as good as I remembered. Now Big difference. The french fries are immaculate seriously, a single order will get you through an entire lunch break. The bacon is delicious and, thankfully, no longer burnt. I don't know what was going on before, but they've definitely figured it out. And they're no longer using that block of government cheese situation on the bacon, egg, and cheese everything tastes fresher. The place itself is cleaner, the drinks aren't expired, and the guys behind the counter are friendly and competent. Overall, it's a really good experience now.
