Old World vs New World Wine Event Review!…read more I visited Binny Geneva for one of their recent wine events. The store itself is rather large but the event space is smaller. All of the tasting tables were featured in the event space which made it hard to hear staff talk about the wine. There were a total of 4 tables which was about half the amount as other events I've gone to. This meant that most people were done sampling at the one hour mark when the event was supposed to be two hours long. Wines ranged from $10-$30 with a couple around the $50 mark. The wines were good but nothing that blew me away. I wish the event sheet listed the wine in order as we were supposed to taste as well as list the region it was from. It would have been a lot easier to follow along! The food display was one of the better ones given for variety. Overall, it's always a fun time to try wines I wouldn't normally try! Tip: Attending the event gives you a 10% off coupon on any bottle featured.

When we were it seemed as though the servers were not thrilled to have us there. Again, it was a busier afternoon. We sat ourselves on the outside patio that was popping off with lots of friendly banter across tables, good looking plates, and loved that it was a dog friendly patio!! Huge win for the area! We ordered a couple beers (Stella and the local Crystal Lake Beach Blonde Ale) as well as the October wing special- Blackberry bacon glazed wings. Wow! The charbroil on the wings gave an insane depth of Smokey flavor that was perfectly matched by the thick, sweet and salty syrup that coated each crispy wing. Killer! They did not skimp on the sauce was much appreciated! We loved the ranch too. If it's not homemade, they did a fantastic job selecting that type because I would have drank it if I could! Prices were more than fair and the service was quick once seated. A really cool spot for a quick afternoon bites and brew with friends!
