All of the tasting tables were featured in the event space which made it hard to hear staff talk about the wine. There were a total of 4 tables which was about half the amount as other events I've gone to. This meant that most people were done sampling at the one hour mark when the event was supposed to be two hours long. Wines ranged from $10-$30 with a couple around the $50 mark. The wines were good but nothing that blew me away. I wish the event sheet listed the wine in order as we were supposed to taste as well as list the region it was from. It would have been a lot easier to follow along! The food display was one of the better ones given for variety. Overall, it's always a fun time to try wines I wouldn't normally try! I wanted to share what happened so nobody else gets surprised. The service was cold and rude from the moment we sat down. Not sure where their hostility was coming from. I still tried to enjoy myself since this was literally my birthday dinner. When I presented the Groupon, the server kept telling me there was a restriction "in the terms somewhere," even though the $50 voucher has none. It literally says you can use it any day. They eventually accepted it. Our card was run before we could review the check. Afterward, we found a $13.38 charge labeled "8+ Gratuity (20%)" on a receipt that says "Guest Count: 2." Staff told us the owner requires 20% gratuity on all Groupon orders. That isn't mentioned anywhere in the Groupon terms or on the menu. I'm happy to tip, and I want it to be my choice. Retaliatory or deceptive business practices are not cool.
