The owners are really really nice here. You can tell they take pride in their store. Before covid visited and they display their craft beers in a pretty awesome way. Also large selection of craft beers and alcohol. During Covid, he got more careful and only allows one per customer inside to browse but he grabs whatever you need for you. They sanitize your card before and after your purchase too. I liked that a lot. Anyways good spot. Don't let the area scare you away from stopping in here. read more

One big high five to Elgin's recognition and supply of good beers. Geno's has hopped on the Stone Brewing train and in addition to those lovely brews, carries Lagunitas, Left Hand, Sam Smith's, and a whole bunch of other kinda rare, really tasty items. Tons of them too, we're talking two whole rows full of options. In addition to the standard booze, the wine selection is plentiful as well. While the supply is limited in terms of certain varietals (I saw just one or two Carneros pinot noirs and no straight Tempranillo, only blends) there is something for every price point as well as a decent selection of pre-chilled bubbles. I've been here twice now, and this is truly a gem. You might not expect it from the nondescript appearance on the outside, but Geno's has an absolutely killer beer selection. It's not a very big place, but he has packed it with just about anything a beer lover would want. Not only that, when a few other places I'd gone looking for a particular beer were already out, he had at least a dozen bombers left. Along with the awesome selection, the owner is extremely knowledgeable. Talk to him for a few minutes and it becomes obvious that he is very passionate about what he does. I look forward to making regular stops here (sorry Binny's), as the variety of the selection is hard to beat. Being just a block or so off of 20 just makes it all the better, as getting to Geno's is pretty easy if you're not from Elgin. read more

A quarter the size of the giant chain liquor store I will normally visit, twice the selection and 100x the customer service, everyone is very friendly and helpful, if you happen to come when Geno is working he will talk with you at length about beer, it's great to see someone take some pride in his work as well as have a passion for it. Will never go to another liquor again if I can avoid it! read more

I've been going to this store every since i was old enough to drink and i have had nothing but great things to say! Geno and Julie are the sweetest people and they're always smiling! The location may not have you thinking Oh they're going to have great craft beers and fine wine, however they do, and they have lots of it. They also have good beer tastings (by good I mean 6 tables with 5-10 beers per table). Very good selection and good prices! Keep up the good work Geno! read more

This place is going to be my new go-to liqour and beer store. I was shocked to see all the craft beers that Geno's has to offer. The next best place would be Woodman's and then Binny's but if you're an Elginite like me than there is no other like Geno's. I was lucky enough to meet Geno on my second visit. I just popped in to grab a bottle of vodka but I left with a bottle of Fuller's Vintage Ale (a great beer). Geno talked my head off about craft beer and his goals for Geno's. He is even working on getting a website with reviews and stuff. If you're looking for a great selection of limited craft beers, this is the place. read more

I was looking for a particular brand of tequila today and I couldn't find it anywhere and I called Geno's and they had one bottle left and held it for me. While I was there I spoke with them and they recommended a different one they they also like for a 'sipping' tequila. I ended up leaving with both and they weren't kidding, the one they told me about was even better than the one I previously liked and they were the same price. read more

This is a true gem on the west side of elgin. Excellent beer selection, very solid wine selection. Geno Jr. will talk your ear off about beer but you can tell he is very passionate. Julie continually updates her wine selection and rates her favorites. They have many upscale wines but she also selects many that have excellent bang/buck. Acceptable liquor selection with all the basics and mixers. Overall a very nice family establishment. You'd have to go to a Binny's to do much better. read more
