Horrible checkout experience every time! It's the only store in the chain that audits me every single time I'm in.

This is a neatly outside grocery store. Recently I took out dinner from wing bar. Good was so so. May be because I took out in the evening food started to get dry. Especially the buffalo chicken egg roll was very dry. Barbeque wings, buffalo wings and sweet chili boneless wings were all good. read more

We popped in for 3 items, one being cold cuts. We waited in line FOREVER. The deli at this location takes sooo long! I prefer the Windsor Ave location but we were already near this one. It didn't help that the ticket machine was out of paper. Customers formed a line and it was 4-5 customers deep the entire time we were there. It was frustrating because there was only one employee servicing customers for most of the time we were waiting. A second employee was slicing for online orders which she said are priority. Meanwhile you have customers at the store trying to be patient... She is following store policy but perhaps this should be revisited when you have customers with large orders that take awhile for one employee to fill and lots of other customers, like us, who need one or two items. It would be great if there was one more employee working as the employees were very mindful of the long line and seemed concerned that they were unable to go any quicker. We stopped in because they currently have Boar's Head cold cuts on sale. They carry nice quality meats & cheeses at their deli. read more

This place has gone downhill so bad in the past few years. I've shopped here 11yr now mind you. The older staff here are very unprofessional. Closing managers and also the cashier named Kathy. Closing manager (short gray hair older lady) can be overheard huffing and puffing and swearing about last minute shoppers. As we walked in I got to hear "Are you f'n kidding" Wow. Furthermore, this store hides the wireless scan guns forcing you to spend MORE time entering in stuff or lift heavy items to scan them. Hire security if you have theft issues so bad you can't have scan guns out. If Kathy won't lift a package of water why should I have to? My interaction with Kathy made me never want to step foot in this Stop and Shop again. When I walked away displeased she proceeded to crack a joke about me to the shopper behind me? Really? Absolutely rude, disrespectful behavior. DO BETTER. I will be leaving a review with the BBB as well and contacting corporate. Never again. read more

This used to be a great place to get Gluten Free products. Everything was located in one dedicated section and the selection was extensive. Someone in management decided to scrap this concept and rearrange the entire store!! I asked the manager on a previous visit last month why? He said it was a decision from "corporate" so this may be coming to all of the chain! I visited the store yesterday after all of the rearrangements were finished. Now everything (except the frozen goods) is mixed in with the non GF food and as best as I could tell the amount of GF is considerably less. For example, I looked for Snyder's GF pretzels. There dozens of non GF and only one GF. The frozen GF is separate but the selection is 1/3 of what it used to be. They have also severely cut the staffing and customer service is suffering. I looked for someone in the aisles to ask where a product was located and I could not find anyone. I ended up going to the front desk and they did not have a clue where the item was. When I went to check out there were only TWO people working as cashiers but there were over 10 "self service" checkouts. SO YESTERDAY WAS THE LAST DAY I WILL EVER GO INTO THAT STORE. Had to go here in a pinch around 9pm tonight. I made it 2 steps out of my car and was approached by a group of men asking for "help" (money). If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was a Price Chopper customer and recently went back to Stop & Shop because they were closer than Big Y. Such terrible service! First at the customer service desk from a woman who sighed because I interrupted her sending text messages to ask for help in the bottle return. Then there was some loud guy (manager?) talking to another employee behind the bakery counter. And this annoying, beeping robot followed me around the store - I guess this is their answer to customer service? I had a question about a sale item and when I finally found someone who worked there to ask, they rudely said "not my department". And the cashier nicely packed all the heaviest items into one bag so it weighed about 75 pounds. I can't wait for ShopRite to open read more

Unfriendly staff. Non existent customer service. Asked for help putting very heavy object in my car. Cashier told me, "there's a guy outside to help you". I asked where and was told "somewhere" I asked if she could call him and begrudgingly she did. Meanwhile the elderly gentleman watched me load all my groceries in the car never offering to help until I asked him to load the heavy item. He then walked away without taking the cart. SHOPPER BEWARE. have shopped there for 15 years only because it's convenient and i know where things are only! I use my debit card always for my groceries and i spend good money there. well, they charged my debit card twice and refused to refund my money. the girl at the service desk said that it happens all the time but usually, the money goes back into the account immediately, well not in my case. my credit union decided to honor me back the $141. after fighting for 3 months to get it back. i am a new widow and life has been so hard and the last thing i need is to fight for what is rightfully mine. STOP AND SHOP STOLE $141. FROM MY DEBIT ACCOUNT AND REFUSED TO CREDIT IT BACK. i will never shop there again. this is not how you treat a customer who's been loyal to them for 15 years! their produce is always rotted when I get it home and cut into it, not sure why I put up with their lousy produce for so long and their "don't care about you" attitude. I'm a big fan of this place over Big Y. A fresh salad bar, pre-packaged salads for lunches, pre-packaged snacks, Odwalla smoothie flavors you can't find at Big Y...a decent organic/vegan/gluten free section... Use your Stop and Shop card at the gas pumps there, too. I've saved as much as 40 cents off a gallon, a real life saver considering up until recently I commuted 17 hours a week. I love that they have self checkouts, too. (Something else Big Y doesn't have.) I'm usually in somewhat of a hurry and would much rather scan and bag my own order and get on with my day. read more

This is where I do all of my grocery shopping and I love it. The produce section is wonderful and always stocked with whatever I need, whenever I go. I also frequent the natural foods section, where they always seem to be adding new and interesting items (I now love vegan cheesecake because of them!) The store is bright, clean and the shelves are always kept up nicely. The only few problems I have is that the past four times or so I've gone there the self scanners have been out of order or none were charged. I like to use the self scanners because I can bag my groceries the way I like and don't have to wait long in a line (my other teensy gripe). The gas points are also awesome, and it's great that the S&S gas station is right there to utilize them. read more

This Stop and Shop is close to my workplace, so this is where I do the majority of my grocery shopping. All the departments have a good selection. It's very rare that I encounter empty shelves, or can't find the exact brand I'm looking for. (I can't say the same for other Stop & Shop locations in the greater Hartford area!) I do most of my shopping in the produce section, and it's well-stocked year-round. I like how they package up assortments of ripening or bruised produce -- usually located on a metal rack near the seafood counter -- and sell it at steeply discounted prices. Great for last-minute recipes where it doesn't matter what the produce looks like. (Banana bread! Guacamole!) Early mornings and late evenings are obviously the least crowded times of day for quick in-and-out shopping. But there are enough full-service and self-checkout lanes that I've never had to wait long, even during peak hours (like lunch break and after work). The on-premises gas station can be a little difficult to navigate around (narrow turns, one way, super busy at times), and has slightly higher prices than other locations in the area. But it's convenient in a pinch, especially when I have enough gas reward points on my Stop & Shop card for the 10¢/gallon discount. read more

Bad day at the stop and shop It started when we waited 20 minutes for a worker to empty the bottle return. The entire bottle return is a mess. Poorly organized and managed. I know they are never great but the mess was the worst. The selection was a little down bit it was Sunday so I get it What I don't get is the lack of a bagger at any register - I should have had a discount for doing it myself !!! I don't shop here often, but today is my last day at this stop and shop. I was trying to check out the meat dept, and there were a group in of men in the butcher area. One guy with glasses, I think he was actually a manager, was laughing and yelling so loud that I couldn't even think straight. It was like they were at a Super Bowl party and there were no customers around, or it didn't matter. They were all loud but he was the loudest. I had to get out of there, but I needed some Rice, and I thought it was around $3.60, which is normal. I got in the line and scanned it. It was over $6.00?! The same bag would cost 3.50 tops somewhere else. Never again.... read more

Disgusting attitude from management and the crew towards customers and also using the "pandemic" as an excuse to provide zero customer service. I accidently bought 2 of the same item during my regular weekly bulk shopping. Sometimes as people with regular 10 to 12 hour work shifts we generally get exhausted and bound to make mistakes. I went back to the cashier that checked me out and explained that I wanted to return one of the 2 I bought since it was just over a minute ago. She said yes, just bring it to the Customer service counter, so I did. After waiting for about 5 min, another associate walks upto me with a bad attitude and lecturing me about the "all sales are final" rule during the covid crisis. I told him that I'm doing exactly what the cashier told me to do...he said, "shes also just an associate sir". I have NO idea what that implies, does that mean your store associates can say whatever they want but they may not be honest and could be false information?? He called up his manager as a sense of formality to make an exception here but ultimately was denied the refund anyways. I could hear the tone in his voice as he painfully had to get rid of me from the counter for this minor refund. This isn't about affordablity or me being a miser. I could very well ignore the situation and walk away but one thing I despise is lack of respect for customers and that's clearly seen here at the management of this stop and shop. I spend over 100s of dollars weekly at this store but I won't be coming back ever. You lost a big ticket customer for a measly amount of 8.99.You can keep it! read more

This is the closest grocery store to my home, so I go mostly out of convenience. I'm not really a S&S fan at all. However, since S&S bought this location from Shaw's, they've done a nice job of updating, fixing the entrance that spills onto Rt. 83, and the keeping the place up to snuff. It's very well organized and easily navigated. I prefer this location to the one on the other side of town in the K-Mart plaza. Prices are decidedly average. read more

I just shipped at pitkin Rd stop and shop and I won't be going back. It was 10:00 on a Tuesday morning and there were tons of employees around (both union and management) and there was 1 cashier open. I was 4th in line and no additional registers opened. I spent my $100, bagged my own groceries and that will be the last time I shop here. Hopefully when Shop Rite opens across the street, they will be a little more in tune with customer service. read more

This has to be the worst grocery store I've ever been in. Whomever is in charge of this particular location must thoroughly enjoy ripping customers off. It's a rarity if I encounter a single shopping trip without seeing expired food. They also blatantly stock their produce section with moldy and/or wilted fruits/vegetables. I'm from Michigan, and while I've yet to encounter a grocery store even close to the quality that I'm used to back home, this one really takes the cake. read more

I had not shopped at the Vernon Stop & Shop in a few years, so I was happily surprised by the extensive selection of organic and natural foods, both in the frozen food section and in the aisles. This store has a much better and larger selection than it's competitors have. I thought the selection and quality of produce was very good, and I thought that the prices on most items I purchased were good. Of course, since I wasn't familiar with the store layout, I felt compelled to wander up and down every aisle, which resulted in my buying items that weren't on my grocery list. Because of that, I spent about 40.00 more than I would normally spend on my weekly grocery shopping trip. The customer service level of the cashiers seems to have greatly improved since my previous visits, and they seemed to have an adequate number of employees bagging groceries...which seems to be a rarity lately at some other grocery store chains. After working 55 hours a week, the last thing I want to have to do is help bag my own groceries! I will definitely start shopping at this S&S on a routine basis. read more

Compared to other supermarkets in the local area this Stop N Shop by far has the best variety in all aspects including gluten free and other naturals. Their meats section also has a vast selection to choose from. Very clean store read more

People today are suffering for jobs. Cashiers have become the actual customers. Not just here but all over. Yesterday I say a 6 foot tall robot that apparently I was told order items, check out of stock and out of date items and alert people to messes. Way to cut more people out and create less jobs. read more

Love this place since they've renovated a few months ago (end of 2012). Their natural section is getting better and better everyday and they are carrying for organic vegetables. They even have grass fed beef and free range chicken. it's always easy to check out too, never a line. read more

I want to thank Ryan who works in the produce department at Stop & Shop on 10 Pitkin St. Vernon Rockville for his excellent customer service. On March 11 in the afternoon I called with a question I had regarding a particular produce item. A young man by the name of Ryan who works in the produce department answered the phone. Ryan was very pleasant, and eager to help me. He reassured me he would find the answer to my question. He returned with the good news that he had the produce item I needed. I was impressed that he took my question seriously and after placing me on a very short hold, he returned to verify Stop & Shop did have my item. Ryan said he would hold onto it until I arrived at the store in around 1 hour. I then asked to talk with his manager Mike, so I could share with him my experience and how wonderful the customer service was that I had experienced. Mike also was very friendly. Stop and Shop has an excellent natural foods section that is much preferable to the non-existent sections at nearby Price Chopper and Big Y. For that reason and that reason alone I shop this store exclusively. I've found the service here to be top notch as well, regrettably they never have enough registers open and do all of their stocking during the day, which causes traffic jams and minor inconveniences. Cost cutting measures, I am sure. I'd love to give this supermarket a five star review and should they decide to fix these problems I'd be first in line to revise my review! read more
