Besides the fact most are nice. Just want to say that the new hires are moving into higher positions wo any pay increase but they still do because they love the power trip. But anyway. One girl named Andrea is not professional not able to handle extra job responsibilities and speak properly to the customers as well as the employees. I'll figured I'd give them a second chance and went there today shelves are still half empty it's ridiculous. They have something on sale and they don't have it in the store and it's not just one item. the prices are ridiculous. I really think the store could use a better manager or at least someone who knows what they're doing. I wish there was another store that's closer but I will make the trip out to ShopRite every opportunity I can and continue to use this store as a convenience store, and even at that rate, they never have what you want, unless of course you want half vegetables or things to go bad after a day I don't know what they do to make them like that. I definitely agree with all the other poor reviews for this location. The parking lot is very dirty and not maintained at all. The carts are thrown all over, in terrible condition and absolutely not being cleaned during this pandemic. The parking lot and store itself are way too tight and crowded. The shelves are never fully stocked - This is the only location where I am guaranteed to leave without an item or two on my grocery list. Store is great, got everything I need. HOWEVER, every single time I go to the self checkout the older woman with white hair that is always working there has had something to say not only to me but I've seen her do it to other people to. I am a grown man I will not except being YELLED at by a woman I do not know because she had to "come all the way over here again" to swipe her card cause I scan things too quickly. Or how about when I tried to put my items that were paid for already back into a basket to take them to my car (now, I understand why that would be an issue cause people may steal the basket. Suregot it) what is not acceptable is to come over and before even saying anything start take my items THAT I PAID FOR ALREADY(which would make them mine) and taking them out of the basket and throwing them on the counter THEN telling me I can't take the basket. First of all, that is no longer the stores food, it is mine, do not touch it. Second, learn how to speak to another adult properly, I am not your grandson you can yell at for not doing what you want i am a paying customer trying to get groceries to his car. Forgive me for not having read the "stop&shop users guidebook to success". Lastly, please do not make a Spectacle out of the situation unnecessary. Tell me "sir, I'm sorry but the stores policy is that customers can't bring the basket outside of the store"and I will say "oh okay no problem sorry about that." I can't believe I've never realized this before.... but they don't even have a butcher in the store. It's just two small shitty display shelves. One of red meat (and not even of many cuts at all) / pork ; and the other plant based items/chicken/sausage. Even the dirty ass superfresh has a butcher. I can't find BASIC cuts of meat (skirt steak; porterhouse specifically). It makes me question how fresh the meat actually is since it's not even directly cut in store. There's no VEAL, no LAMB. This stop and shop really need to remodel and rebrand. Just the whole store when you first enter looks really old. The other two chains on the island are much more modern and well kept. Furthermore, the manager's attitude towards customers are really not professional and that manager in this specific chain came at me super aggressively. I went to this store to buy several cases of water bottles and with that day I have several company vouchers from that water bottle brand with me that I have paid with. The cashier took those coupons and started to write the amount of each item on it until she thought that there was a limitation on these branded vouchers. At that point, there was already two employees at that station. Then they called the manager here and she was saying on how that this store only would let me one voucher per purchase, but the weird fact is that the other stop and shop stores would let me use several at a time. She also added a line saying " I'm not letting you out of this store with dollars of free items. Not everything is for free." This line that she said to me wasn't valid since those vouchers that I paid for fully towards the brand gives me the item at a discounted price. So at that point, all my vouchers were written but she only let me use one voucher per purchase so I asked for a compensation since written vouchers wouldn't be able to be used again. She answered me aggressively back " What do you want me to do about it?" At that point, I got a little frustrated from the tone of voice she is speaking to me and her last comment about the free items that weren't valid. I said " You made a mistake on writing on my vouchers that I'm not even going to use for this transaction. Now you should fix this problem." Her next move was really questionable, and it makes me question their professionalism. The manager said with fingers pointing at me " Don't you dare talk to me like that!" I was shocked. Wash she implying that I was disrespecting her because she thought that I was prejudice against her race? That wouldn't make sense because I was very cool with her and talked to her with reasons. She was the one going at me aggressively and made a wrong. Also, it's her job as a manager to fix problems not make a bigger problem out of everything. The fact that she used the race and victim card against me is totally ridiculous and unreasonable. I hope Stop and Shop would reconsider her position as a manager and inspect this specific shop because it's not it the best condition. read more

Wow, there are some very strange reviews about this store. It's really not all that bad! I have never seen the place messy, unkempt or dirty. It's usually in pretty decent shape. They usually have all the things I shop here for (mostly things I cannot get at the specialty stores like paper towels and toilet paper) They have a pretty decent selection of fruits and veggies, much better than the nearby Top Tomato. Although, strangely, they had no cabbage the week of St. Patrick's Day about two years ago. I stop here on my way to work to pick up something for my lunch. But seriously, it's a small grocery store, what do you people really expect??? They don't have the significant storage and exposure as the bigger Stop & Shops. Also - they are grocery store ladies, not fifth avenue negotiators , try to find something nice to say jeez. After Sandy, they kept their doors open and did the best they could to keep people supplied with food. I was the only one buying split peas, flour and yeast to keep my family fed. I hate this store... SO much. First of all after 7pm they close the entrance door and you have to walk in through the exit!!! UGH. Second, they barely stock ANY organic produce. Third, the store is DIRTY, GRUNGY, dark & old. From the floor mats to the floors themselves the place needs an over haul......Whoever is responsible for keeping inventory they are doing a terrible job @ they definitely do NOT take into consideration the geographics of the area and that 90% of their customers are Italian & that it is the year 2020.......They have a gluten free section that's about as modern as it gets.....They don't sell miso paste, half sour pickles, organic tea bags, orecchiette pasta, regular vegetable oil (they only have soy) & did I mention their fresh organic produce is basically nom existent.......I can go on and on and on with the items they are lacking........They are also EXTREMELY overpriced... extremely expensive & im not exaggerating!!!..........Don't come here, just go to ShopRite in Tottenville. This store SUCKS!!!! They need a complete overhaul physically with new floors, lighting, sidewalks (I can go on) and the management & upper management needs EXTREME training to order relevant products!!!!!!!! This Stop & Shop on Amboy rd on Staten Island needs much to be desired. For starters I was putting my stuff on the conveyer the cashier turned off the light and said he was closed, rudely, he pointed to the light and shushed me away with his hand . Obviously he has no people skills, no manners and was raised in a Barn! I went to the store manager Frank, he was no better, as I was telling him about his very rude employee, he didn't want to know anything. He definitely needs to go for manager training to learn people skills. Needless to say I will not be bringing my business there and I will make it my business to share my bad experience with all my friends and relatives. Stop and shop on Amboy road I think is used as a Forensics Lab or a Funeral Parlor. It smells like dead bodies are stored on there!! The man who works in the meat department had cologne that smelled better then the store!! When I passed by him I made a sigh of relief because I was able to breath again! The closer you get to the Deli Department, the worse the smell becomes!! Eat and shop at your own risk!! Was satisfied with the store until I realized that if you run your card as a Debit (where you enter your pin) they charge you a $1.50, which you don't see until you look at your monthly statement. If you're paying with a card, always run it as credit. I wouldn't normally post a bad review, but that's some shady business. read more

When the hell are they gonna finish their "remodel" ??! I go here for the convenience since it's by my house. I used to go to Pathmark by Costco until all Pathmarks closed down. They had the best prices out of anyone. Might need to start going to the Stop & Shop by Best Buy. The staff here couldn't be bothered helping you unless it's the red headed stock guy with glasses who always asks everyone around him if they need help. High five to him. Sales in the circular for the week aren't always labeled on the shelves so I have to use circular or the Key Ring App on my phone to look at the sales to make sure, even though I write them down on a list. This place has been "remodeling" for months. It's getting to the point where it's an inconvenience & extremely annoying when you're trying to shop & they have aisles closed off because they're doing whatever they're doing. Can't this all be done after closing ? I hope some other store opens with Pathmark-esque prices & friendly staff because this place is in the dumps. - UPDATE : it looks like they've finished their remodel. This place is still garbage. Only 2-3 lanes open as usual no matter what time. They never restock weekly sale items til the overnight crew comes in.... Just garbage. Gonna start going to the one by the mall. This location is horrible! This is not my first time here, but tonight the store was in a disarray. The produce section is so small and half the shelves were empty. A lot of items I needed throughout the store were either out of stock or they did not carry. Granted I went at night to do my shopping, but even the seasonal section was a disaster, mixed in with flowers. It looked like everything was thrown all over the place. The cashier was letting all of my produce out of the bags and checked his cell phone, while other items still needed to be bagged! My father was hired as a porter at stop and shop Staten island NY on Amboy road. They let him go after three days but we're rude and dismissive to him within that time frame. He did nothing wrong . He never got trained or even given a schedule. They called him and told him different times to come in and then yelled at him for coming at the new time. He asked questions about things he should do and the manager ignored him and walked away. I'm assuming it's because he is 79 and she didn't want to bother with him. My father worked at his last job for 50 years for 7 days a week . That place is a disgrace. You hire a person and let him go for no reason. He might be 79 but the hardest working man out there . A few days ago I went to Stop and Shop And bought among other things Food Should Taste This Good tortilla chips. The sale was Buy Two Get One Free. When I got home I saw that I didn't get one free. I looked at the flyer again and realized it was buy 2 get 1 free. When I read it the 1ST time I thought it was Buy 1 get 1 free. Today, a few days later I went back to get the free bag but was told to come back later because customer service was closed. I do laundry at 7AM at a nearby laundromat and the only time I could shop is while the clothes are drying at 7:30AM. I told this to John the cashier and a packer and he couldn't help me.I said I'll have to complain online and he said go ahead. This is no way to run a business.
