Key Food on Sand Lane is a very nice store. When I couldn't find what I needed and asked for a rain check, the manager went back to the meat department and got them to cut me a piece of meat. I was so happy not to be inconvenienced and very pleased with their friendly service. I think they may have new management because the store is cleaner and better stocked than it was a few years ago. A solid supermarket. Relatively snug grocery in the Midland beach area (across from the Fountain of Dolphins/Sand Lane) providing lots of produce and other common grocer goods (i.e. dairy products, eggs, meats, snacks, desserts, etc.). This store provides some produce that was a bit harder to find in the other supermarkets (i.e. Shoprite) such as daikon (white carrot), taro root, Napa cabbage, Bok Choy, and certain spices/seasonings (hot Jamaican curry). The store has parking lot which leads to another, inner parking lot (parking lot's also a bit snug too, but not bad). Some of the produce should be dumped/taken care of more often - one basket of taro roots had mold, while the other basket next to it was okay. Certain items, such as the Yogurts (Stonyfield), had a "best-by date" of December 31 2021, but was still being sold middle of January 2022. I actually (accidentally) bought one of those Yogurts and ate it. Nothing bad happened though, so it is what it is. Other than that, this store is pretty decent everything else considered. read more

Over-priced and a very cramped store! Products are sold at different prices than advertised on the shelves - scanned at a different price during checkout. I mostly shop there for sale items and even then must check receipts for accuracy. Overcharging happened not only to me but also to another member of my family several times, literally every time while shopping at KeyFood. The frequency and consistency of those discrepancies make me strongly believe it is not a matter of human error but rather a deliberate scheme. I'm trying to avoid this store as I don't want to get potentially scammed and waste my time & energy to get my overcharged money back. read more

Have stopped here for years to pick up things on the way from work. never an issue but now during the pandemic i have twice noticed one of the younger deli workers who cuts the meats does not adhere to wearing a face mask although there is a sign stating masks are protocol posted the first time he waited on me i asked him to put the mask up and he grudgingly did so. I went back again yesterday and the same kid is behind the deli counter cutting cold cuts with the mask around his neck. I will not go back, and management should have a better handle on this. to post a sign for customers to wear masks and not enforce employees use of masks is ridiculous read more

Management is very rude and lazy. It doesn't provide a clean environment, often has expired product left on the shelf or is in an environment that will make it spoil more quickly like the deli meats in a warm environment. The store is very cramped, doesn't restock in a fair amount of time among various other inconveniences and hazards. On top of all this pricing is high. I suggest you take your business elsewhere, be safe and know you'll leave with intended product safely. read more

I'm typing this as the smell of cooked, spoiled ground beef is filling my apartment. *(Freshly bought Beef with a sell by date of the 25th) I moved to this neighborhood about a year ago. This Keyfood is pretty close by, so I come here regularly. The first thing you'll notice about this supermarket is how cramped everything is. Moving about the store is a challenge because the aisles are horrendously overstocked, and product placement is poorly considered. I'm not exactly sure why there are stacks of bulk eggs sitting on the floor in a narrow aisle; but I can't imagine that going without incident, anyway... The produce is the next big problem. Pineapples, in particular, are especially horrendous; but good luck finding anything else of a decent caliber. Expired food is regularly left on the shelf. It's not uncommon to find numerous past its expiration date products just sitting on the shelf... So in summation, if you have a car; drive somewhere else - there's plenty to chose from. In summation If you MUST shop here: - Avoid unpackaged produce. (Avocados / Onions appear to be fine) - Avoid the spinach (I became sick for 9 days after eating some from here). - Avoid no-name "store packed" meat. Branded foods such as purdue are still good. I've also had no issues with the ground turkey brand they carry. - When buying anything with an expiration date, take extra special care to check everything. read more

So far it is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's clean, well-stocked, produce is fresh, and prices are compatible with other chains. Great deli and seafood departments, and pretty good prepared foods, including fresh salads. There is no other supermarkets near by, so this little store is a lifesaver to run in and out for groceries! Parking on side street and additional parking on the back. Never a huge line or stampede like in other places before holidays or snow storm. Glad they opened, and glad to see they keeping it at same quality level as first day they opened. read more

The staff here are always friendly and helpful-- always answer my questions and give me the discount when I ask about it. I am thankful for a decent store that is in walking distance from my house.
