Picked up some snacks for the week. Staff was nice to me. I also got a puns of crab legs, steamed with old bay seasoning. Homie back there hooked it up. My Cashier Diana was cool too. Lines were well organized. Make sure you bring your own bags or pay for one of theirs. Store was well stocked!!

This Stop n shop replaced the dilapidated overpriced Pathmark that used to be the areas main supermarket. Its a pretty good fit, much better maintained than Pathmark. Everything really is largely the same - parking, check out, aisle layout and under some circumstances prices. Stop n shop isn't as cheap as Shoprite but is cheaper than Pathmark especially toward it's end. Stop n shop still has the hot food counter and manager special rack that I've not seen at other ones so that's cool. They implemented a portable self scan which is an interesting idea but not sure how well it works. Options are good though. Decent market and a nice go between with Trader Joes and Shoprite being a couple miles extra.

Two nasty workers Black girl is horrible at customer service. White woman is just as bad.

I go to Stop & Shop because it's close to where I live to pick up a few quick items. In my opinion , they're a little on the expensive side and the layout of the store is a little odd . The one good thing they did when they changed over from Pathmark to Stop & Shop was they kept the fried chicken which is scrumptious.

Bakery Label with package date and sell by date

The cake was EXPIRED and MOLDED. I was purchasing a cake from the bakery for my friend's birthday party which was the same day (May 26, 2019). I was in a rush so I picked the cake that matched her color scheme and also had it decorated. The following day, my friend called me and told me that when she was cutting it to have a slice, there was a huge mold spot in the middle of the cake and when they checked the date, it was packaged on February 5, 2019 and the sell by date was May 6, 2019. I went back to the store and got my money back with no issue from the manager (which is the only reason this place is even receiving 2 stars). He stated that he would speak with his bakery department also. I would recommend that you check the expiration date of your foods (specifically baked goods) from this location!

To me, it kind of just feels like the old Pathmark honestly. The layout is practically the same. The big differences are that Bank of America is gone (now there's a Hallmark section), and the store brand is now Stop & Shop. Regardless, it's a solid grocery store and less expensive than Ashley's Marketplace on the avenue. If you live in South Orange, I recommend going here for your staple items and Ashley's for specialty items.

Looks like it took 20 minutes to blow up 2 ballons. Unbelievably bad service. Now I remember why I avoid this store.

Good layout, nice little selection of products. A little pricey but its location is convenient. The produce section is a hit or miss.

Their (outdated-looking) website doesn't state that they are closed at all. The main phone number rings and rings; no outgoing message to say they are closed. Makes me wonder if they will ever re-open. When I did shop there, the prices were a little higher than a big grocery stores, which wasn't great but I was okay with to support a smaller biz and for the convenience. But the baskets were always filthy and there were some fresh, frozen and dry/shelved expired items around the store. It did seem like they were struggling to maintain the store. I do hope some improvements will be made and that it can reopen.

Very similar to the Aldi's and Lidl's that have been popping up in North NJ, it's an inexpensive supermarket that largely carries it's own products but also carries name brands of the same products. You won't have as many options if you go with said name brand of a specific product though. For example lets say you don't want Save-A-Lot's brand of Tortilla chips and you want Tostitos. OK go for it, but lets say you want Tostitos multi-grain scoops. That's not gonna happen. You'll get the main line of the big name brand as a courtesy, but their brands are the what's promoted. So how are their brands? Not bad, but not that great, somewhere in the middle. That is makes stores like this good, if brand recognition and low prices are what you're after, you'll enjoy it. The store itself has all the basics a supermarket should have, but may be shy of somethings Shoprite or Stop n' Shop may carry. This particular store is well kept and the staff are ok. It is a welcome addition to the area.

But this little farmers market is not really much to speak of. The one farm that seemed to have fresh produce had awful tasting pastries and very little produce to speak of for outrageous prices. The food trucks were nothing special. They were exceptionally overpriced. This area is slowly getting gentrified but you still have pockets of people who can barely afford to buy their normal groceries, yet the town thinks its ok to have food trucks selling $16 lobster rolls that are barely 4-5 inches long...The seller at the truck said I was the only person to buy one the entire day...I found nothing to showcase the neighborhood...nothing Caribbean. Nothing Creole. Nothing with pulled pork, no ceviche, no conch fritters. There was only one woman who had juices present and some baked goods for a decent price. The music aspect is the best part but is only for the last half hour. The rest of the booths were random institutions or banks that had nearly as much business of being at a fresh/farmers market event as you'd imagine. Meh, I'll just stick to the events in the city that make more sense. It supposedly occurs on Tuesdays throughout the Summer.

It doesn't focus on ambiance either, but it's clean enough. I will say that I once saw one of the workers who was putting bread into the bins drop a roll, pick it up off the floor, and put it back in, so that right there loses a star. Otherwise, judging it for what it is, it would get four stars. I probably wouldn't go here to do my main grocery shopping, but if you are in the area and looking to pick up a few things for a cheap lunch or something, this is a really intelligent choice, and the service is friendly, so you can really go budget here and enjoy a decent lunch on the cheap by picking up a roll (I know, I know.) and one or two of those $1 cold cut packs, maybe grab a drink, and you're good. Especially in this day and age, this is a place that allows you to be able to afford a meal very much on the cheap, and that to me is quite valuable because people need to eat. So yeah, if they were a little more sanitary or a lot more sanitary when it comes to not throwing dropped bread rolls back into the bin, this would be a solid four stars for me. Might sound crazy, but I do still recommend it.

Discrimination is an unfortunate and illegal business practice.
