The biggest issue is checkout. There are plenty of registers, but they're almost never open & everyone is pushed to self-checkout. I'm not a fan of that at all. I don't work here, and I don't want to ring up my own groceries. I want to use a regular cashier and be on my way. That option shouldn't feel nonexistent. It's also frustrating that self-checkout doesn't take cash, even though it says it does. So if you're paying cash, you have to wait for help anyway which is extremely annoying!! The rewards program isn't great either--after spending $200, getting a free chocolate bar was pretty underwhelming. Overall, nice store, but the lack of real checkout service is a big downside.

Lidls does have their own brand label so you'll save on most things that run along those lines. But some national name brand products that I'm used to seeing are priced the same if not a bit more than other stores.    You can find me hanging out in the Frozen Foods Section, in my opinion that's where a customer can find the most value that this place has to offer. And these days that's a big freakin deal people.   I've been here twice so far and both times it's been pretty empty maybe just because this is a fairly new location but I can definitely appreciate a place like this as opposed to some other crazy crowded nearby chains who'll remain nameless. The entire strip mall looks like it underwent renovations not too long ago. Nearby is a Pet shop, Cohen's Optical, Walgreens, Pet Supply shop and more. This Trader Joe's has a similar layout to other locations I have visited before. The aisles are set at angles but like others when you walk in you see produce. Fridges are located against the walls and for the most part the aisles were familiar. Some bits did take me by surprise. For instance, the cereal was by the bread, which differs from other locations I generally go to. Overall, the shelves were neat and stocked relatively well (it was the weekend of a storm so certain items like eggs had been bought out, gotta be ready to make that Storm French Toast!). The rest room was nice and clean, though oddly a shopping cart was blocking it so I had to scooch around it to use it. Check out was quick, with our cashier giving off some very positive energy given how late we were there (roughly around 7PM). A note: There's no Three (or is it four now) buck chuck etc. here. This is one of the locations that does not sell alcohol. That said, they did have a small non-alcoholic drink section which included wine. It's a nice option for those not into alcoholic drinks. I really enjoyed my visit and if I'm in the area I'll happily come back.

I mean they call it a "Discount Grocery Store" right so maybe I'm putting my expectations too high or something. But I doubt it, instead I think it's alot of cheap no-name stuff which reminds me more of the quality type merchandise that a dollar store would carry. Yup that just about covers that. Well I'm glad we were able to work that one out. Who needs couch time with some Psychiatrist when we can just vent out our thoughts here on this amazing forum through our Reviews? 3 Stars although that's probably 1 more than they deserve, but but I'm still working on my decision making processing process, Hey don't judge me, Lol Come And Get Your Shopping On   if you want

On top of that, the store is severely understaffed and visibly dirty. I would never return to this location, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend anyone else shop here either. At this point, I don't trust buying food from this store. I'm shocked corporate hasn't stepped in because the condition of this location is unacceptable. The entire store needs a complete overhaul. Truthfully, it feels closer to needing a closure than a renovation. There is another discount grocery store a few miles away that is cleaner, better stocked, and far more trustworthy. Save yourself the disappointment and shop elsewhere.

So for me to rate one only two stars... ... well, it means you want to go to any other ShopRite in the area. No one in town has gotten that message, and so good luck finding a parking space. God be with you if you're trying to walk to or from your car, because that is one dangerously crowded parking lot. And I feel bad for the other businesses in that shopping center, because there's not enough space to go around. Once inside, this one's smaller than most. So you get less selection than other ShopRites in the area, like Caldwell (another in my family), Parsippany (my favorite), Morris Plains... I could go on. Even the new Bloomfield one, despite being crowded, has upgraded its size toward that demand. Livingston hasn't, and it hurts. It means my parents were looking for certain food varieties in various aisles and not finding them. It means less space to check out, so if there's someone in the aisle you're already blocking through traffic just waiting for them. That's right, you can actually tell the check-out is shorter! And so are all the aisles. Part of that "less selection." Unless you keep kosher. There's an aisle for that. Actually the fresh food area seemed decently large, on par with other ShopsRite. So let me make clear, my rating isn't "stay away from ShopRite," it's "go drive another few minutes to the next-closest." It's worth the trip.

Do you want Pillsbury frozen Nan, paneer, frozen ready to cook meals, desserts, snack packs Bombay style, bottled Indian condiments and a huge selection of spices? You've come to the right place. You just have to be patient and battle through. The selection is quite complete and my trips to Edison or Parsippany to get supplies has diminished. Just remember it's a large selection in a smaller store. One cash register and small counter. I can tell you it's busier on the weekends but during the week, you never know.
