The store is pretty self explanatory and easy to navigate. They have a bunch of fresh deli counters with fresh food and Russian dark/black breads made daily and cut meats and preserved fishes deli station. They have a bunch of other Slavic and Scandinavian items as well. The older guy is very nice and helpful and was happy to assist me with suggestions on some of the items I came to get. I have been here a few times and it's always been a pleasant experience.

I drove over to Kings and lo and behold they had all the organic and regular strawberries you wanted. The price was higher than ShopRite, they did have deals on a number of other products that I ended up getting. You can sign up for a membership to take advantage of these deals at the register. Well the selection of meat was definitely a lot more expensive then ShopRite, I'd say they have a pretty good deli area and generally good selection of everything non-perishable.

There are no prices on the containers (there are many things that don't have prices marked by the way), but there is a listing on the wall above the table. I had never had them before - but everything else I've gotten here has been delicious, so I had 2 questions; "no meat?" and "how much $" -- and the cook (who did not speak much english) said "no meat" and "aloo" pointing at the list on the wall (it said $7). I was good to go :-) I got to the cashier, ready to pay, and the cashier said "$10"... I replied -- the sign said $7. He replied something like "this is aloo x, you are talking about aloo y" ... to avoid further embarrassment, I paid the $10... but I really had the feeling that they have two sets of prices... I got the outsider's price if you know what I mean. It was disheartening. That said, they tasted fine. even with the tension I felt in my stomach.

You just have to be patient and battle through. The selection is quite complete and my trips to Edison or Parsippany to get supplies has diminished. Just remember it's a large selection in a smaller store. One cash register and small counter. I can tell you it's busier on the weekends but during the week, you never know. But if you live in Essex County or nearby, it can be your mainstay of Indian food.
