Donna Yombrick, the store manager, has an attitude problem specifically toward people with disabilities. I have been informed by employees AND customers I know of a clear difference in the way she talks to neurotypical people vs people with autism. Specifically when an employee who is on the spectrum is having trouble with their job due to their disability (that she was informed they have) she threatens them with termination. I understand there is a certain expectation to hold your employees to, but there is a way to help them improve rather than making them feel less due to something they cannot control. I came on here to complain, hoping her higher ups will see this and take action, and I find ANOTHER bad review, written by someone with tourette's and autism who was a customer and was completely disrespected and then kicked out by Donna Yombrick due to their disability. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!!! I will be making a formal complaint to Stop&Shop corporate. read more

Today, Donna Yombrick was extremely rude to me. I am a special needs individual with autism and Tourettes syndrome. I was in the aisle with my caretaker and I was having a tic attack. Donna came into the aisle and harshly asked what my caretaker and I were doing. My caretaker responded for me and told her that I was having a tic attack, but Donna cut her off and asked again in a rude tone for us to get out of the store immediately. My caretaker apologized and asked why but Donna did not give her a response and started shooing us away. She even said "take your friend out of here and go somewhere else", acting like I was some sort of pet that could be pushed around. My caretaker tried to explain my disability, but she was not willing to hear it and got very fed up for no reason. Extremely disrespectful. I face lots of ableism everyday but I didn't expect it to interfere with my daily activities that I should have a right to doing, like buying food. I was forced to leave after we were kicked out. No customer should have to deal with such rude and disrespectful behavior from an employee, especially a manager. read more

I don't recommend that you buy your fish here, or at least, your salmon. Mine was not fresh. It smelled fishy and also had a faint odor of chlorine. I still cooked it, but could not eat it. Never will I buy fish here again. They are also overpriced. I will use this Stop n Shop for emergency shopping, sans fish. PS: They charge clams by the piece instead of by the pound. So much ice cream so little time.. Short of a few things, as John k mentioned, they have aisle after aisle of everything you could want. Recently our go-to supermarket (A&P) became an Acme...and I don't like it - too expensive, got rid of self-checkout, and some changes in branding. Anyway, we are in Chatham every Monday and started shopping at this Stop & Shop simply because it's convenient. So this place is gigantic...but it was laid out by an insane person. Seriously, they have everything here, but not necessarily the biggest selections. Bakery area is a little small, deli is great (the deli guy on Mondays is super - nice and very funny), produce is fresh and plentiful and a little pricey, seafood area is limited, but the meat section is pretty extensive. Overall, a pretty good supermarket....however, the parking lot is a nightmare. read more

Items always ring up more than the price on the shelf, their technology including the app often malfunctions and now we have to pay for paper bags (not their fault, it's a town thing). Gi-normous! The sheer size of this Super Stop & Shop makes you feel like you are in an upscale Costco. Isles after isles of necessities. They have a whole section devoted to the organic lifestyle. Seriously, from the outside you cannot determine how big this place is. You can even get lost in here. Pro's - Isles are roomy enough to fit 2 carts, maybe 3. Options not available elsewhere are available here, ample parking, clean and tons of self checkout. Con's - Even when on sale, prices are much higher than other supermarkets. This is by far one of the best supermarkets in the area, if not the best. The produce is fresh and plentiful. The deli is terrific. The bakery, where do I start? They actually carry bialys, no one carries those. The meat is very good and the selection of groceries is very wide. They have a nice card department and a pharmacy as well. The staff is helpful and if you grab a pricing gun you can go through the store, scan your items and self-check out. The store is clean and parking is plentiful. If there were zero stars that would be more accurate. went into the store this evening with my son to buy a gift card. I got in line to pay because you can't use the self checkout to purchase a gift card. The cashier clearly was annoyed because i am hispanic and proceeded to pretend that she didn't understand me(i speak fluent spanish and english). She even mocked me by tying to speak spanish. Unfortunately this cashier has harassed me before making it difficult for me to enjoy my experience in this establishment. She continued to mock be by refusing to honor the digital coupon in my app that i've been using without problems on the self checkout. I don't know why this cashier is so rude to me other than the fact she is clearly racist and the store does nothing to correct her conduct. she mocked my english in front of my son and other customers and i will return to file a complaint but never to shop again. This is an awesome Stop and Shop! Wide variety of products, at great prices. This isn't my normal Stop and Shop, as this is after I met someone in Madison, and I needed food, and this was the closest supermarket from there! The food is always fresh, never moldy fruits, have a great selection of produce as well. It's a little dark, when you enter, but the store gets brighter as you walk in. The store is easy to navigate,, and the staff was friendly as I was checking out. The staff seems to know their customers as well, as they knew the names of some of the other customers in the line that I was checking out! Super nice supermarket. Only because they didn't have eggnog brand Lactaid​ anymore after Christmas. Our family does drink eggnog brand Lactaid well after December all the way to February​. So why they did not order more is a shocker to me to say the least. :( read more

Wow what a downfall. Not only did this store move everything around with little stock to distract you. It also changed the self-checkout lines and rushes you if you pause for 10 sec you have to wait for an attendant to say ok while you bag and checkout. I have enjoyed getting my daily necessities and groceries at Stop & Shop. However, I have encountered rude employees multiple times! I feel that some employees are disrespectful. I pay for my groceries through Apple Pay on my iPhone. I did not realize that I did not click on the green button to make it go through all the way. An employee said extremely sassy and ignorantly, "how dare you try and steal those". I understand that she was just doing her job, but I feel that she could have been friendlier. She did not have to full on yell at me for committing a silly mistake. As a loyal member of the Madison community, I would never blatantly steal things from a store. This women gave me a hard time and came close up to me. She did not have her mask covering her nose and she did not social distance at all from me. During a global pandemic, I feel that people should social distance and wear mask properly to stop the spread of this!! I felt very unsafe in this situation. I also encountered bad customer service. I scanned an item wrong and I did not receive any assistance until 5 minutes after. Usually there is someone who is waiting by the side. When the lady came over she was extremely rude. She acted like she didn't want to be there and treated me like I was uneducated. I scanned something wrong, big deal. Everyone makes mistakes but that does not give an employee the right to treat people poorly! This stop and shop has rude employees and awful customer service! read more

Biggest problem - The shelves looked like they were preparing for a Category 4 hurricane. They were empty, they were messy, and they lacked organization. The layout here is really poor. Biggest compliment - They had a very good selection, despite the mess. Good variety of produce, organic options and products you wouldn't see elsewhere. You have to love the Irish/British section, which is one shelf that has "Irish Oatmeal" for $8, and cookies that expired three months ago. Better parking and prices than ShopRite, but certainly less efficient and organized. read more

Excellent hours as they close at midnight on every night except Sunday. This is my emergency go-to grocery as it is right down the street from me and has the great hours. It is a humongouzoid supermarket that has everything you might need. Everything is priced a tick above ShopRite, but the quality of the produce is notably fresher and of higher quality so it is worth it. Other packaged items, like snacks are priced higher for no particular reason. It's really clean and they have self-check out lanes which are cool if you don't want to deal with a cashier person. If you shop here a lot you can accumulate points that will help you save on gas. read more

This is definitely the best supermarket in the area. I live in Summit and drive to Madison to go grocery shopping. The produce is always fresh and they have a great variet and the store is always very clean. I actually used their bakery for the first time this weekend and the cake was delicious. The bakery staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. I love that they have self checkout with the pricing gun it makes things very easy. The only negative about this store is when I decide not to do self checkout they usually only have 3 registers open and I have to wait. For such a large store they should have more cashiers. read more

The items are fresh and the prices are much better than over priced Kings but not as great as Shop-rite. The issue I have with this place is the workers there. Many time I have gone there and I see them while serving customers, talk to other co-workers about how much they hate the place or complaining to each other about something. When you approach some of the people at the register they never smile or say hello and they portray how much they dislike being there. I do think they really need to train their workers on customer service skills. read more

Figs I bought for use the following day had gone bad; almost half of a bag of clementines had to be thrown out and a bag of green apples were spotted brown and in large part unuseable. The best fresh daily prepacked Sushi and nice cold cuts in the town but It is hard to find to purchase Sushi and Deli products because the supermarket keeps changing the products shelves.The Super market should keep the same places on all the items for customers easy to shop instead of looking around like Wholefoods does. Wholefoods do not change the products display cases or products places so I can easily find what I want and save my time. read more
