I went and did my food shopping today 06/09/2024. An associate of Aldi guided my son and me to line 2. As Erick was scanning my items, he scanned the sprite 4 times, when I only had 2 cases. Erick proceeded to scan the pizza 4 times when I only had 2 pies of pizza. Erick then voided 1 spirit and 1 pizza but left the remaining 3 pizzas and 3 cases of spirte. I noticed this once my son and I arrived home in our Uber. I will be reporting Erick to his branch tomorrow morning regarding this matter. Please be careful when shopping at this location. Horror story of Unprofessional Behavior at Aldi Store in Bloomfield by a cashier. The worst experience in my entire life this affects me everyday Date:June 1, 2025 On June 1, 2025, I visited the Aldi store in Bloomfield with a friend for weekly grocery shopping. Unfortunately, we encountered a cashier who displayed extremely unprofessional behavior, which was disturbing and emotionally distressing. This incident was not an isolated event, as we had a similar experience with the same cashier at the Aldi store in West Orange months before. Reflecting, I question myself "why do I shop here when I have a bjs and Costco credit card". Upon arrival, my friend expressed concern about potentially encountering the same cashier who had treated us poorly in the past. Unfortunately, his concerns were validated when we saw the cashier at the register. During checkout, the cashier recognized me and became agitated, speaking loudly and disrespectfully. She referred to me using derogatory language and attempted to involve other staff members, pointing me out and laughing with a colleague. The situation escalated when she called security to have me removed from the store, claiming that I was causing a disturbance. The incident left me feeling emotionally distressed, targeted, and disrespected. As a healthcare worker with a degree in customer service and interpersonal communication, I was particularly disappointed by the cashier's behavior. Given the significant amount of money spent at the store (approximately $500 the first time and $300 the second time), and my family member packing 6 barrels to send back home just because I did not make mention to them about the first altercation with this cashier. I believe that customers deserve better treatment. After been block by the security to proceed to check out we waited patiently for the assistant manager that I requested to speak with. The situation was eventually resolved when apologized for the incident, and allowed us to complete our shopping. However, the experience has left a lasting impression, and I am considering taking further action to report this incident to Aldi's higher authorities. I suggest that Aldi takes steps to address the behavior of this cashier and provides training on professionalism, customer service, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles. This rating is solely for this Disgustingly Uncouth Manager Alissa, or so she said. I pray she's not the manager, I just had the sad pleasure of interacting with! She showed me who she was; now it's customers be worn, find another manager it there's an issue. Mine seemed so simple cause the customer is never right Alissa! Anyway just left Aldi never ever having an issue before matter of fact, one of our go to greats. I'm not sure if they have a new manger as I am only familiar with the shorter young lady who eventually stepped in to show me other options (wish I took her name, good should always take the spotlight). Went to my fav section, you know; the one w all the home decor varieties and so, the signs said $4.99 for the clear plastic organizer and the pumpkin pillows, oooh was I excited, apparently so excited that only one was the right item named tag but still to my dismay wrong size! Anyway the young man at the register alerted us that the names were wrong as I showed him the pic I ran back to take. Whilst feeling a lil deflated, I thought someone should change it, so it doesn't give another customer that false sense of gaiety. I ushered the manager Alissa over to show her where the problem occurred and she reluctantly followed; I said to her that maybe you should move these cause I got excited for the price first, it was red highlighted tag she immediately stated that she didn't have too, the tag must have fallen off and that was not her job and I can't be adding to her job, and they can read; meaning us the customers. She immediately infuriated me and such a simple suggestion fired her up and now I responded "we do this to each other always" relating to our ethic background then she said "we are in Bloomfield this not white people" I immediately regretted my decision to draw that reference, saying later it doesn't matter if black or white it's your customers, you should care about your customers and yourself not having to be aggravated that every customer will see that red tag the $4.99 sign before digging in to sort threw; well do they mean this one or this size, well it doesn't say the size, omg seriously! I only calmed when the other manager stepped in and showed me what size they meant on the pumpkins despite all of them being thrown in one pile and the lil ones getting lost in the mix. First time at this location. Came at 9 AM to have more options available as soon as they opened their doors. Make sure you bring your quarter for a shopping cart, you get the quarter back when you return the cart. Bring your own bags, they charge you for their plastic bags. I found a bunch of Aldi brands of products and some name brands too. Great selections! I was over all happier with this Aldi than the previous ones I went to. read more

I went here to shop for the first time ever in my life and I slipped and fell on some water that was left on the floor. I currently have minor pain to my right knee. I understand mistakes happen but the guy at the register was very rude and he said "oh well I'm at the register I can't help her" . I believe his name was Kurt. Another team member came over to me once I was up from the floor and asked was I ok and she called for the manager. The manager was talking over me and wouldn't even address the rude employee at the register. He claim he had to get 2 sides of the story, but there were witnesses standing around and saw how rude and nasty the guy at the Register was. I kind of feel like this is the supermarket no one asked for. Stop & Shop isn't even a mile from this market and I feel like this place is just to cater to renters in the adjacent luxury apartments just built. Obviously those aren't the only customers who shop here and thus there is a huge traffic problem here as people try to come in and out of here. So how's the actual store? Like a smaller, lower tier Trader joes. Almost every product is a unique brand not sold at the run of the mill supermarket. I found this place to be kind of small, the prices while nice don't seem to make that much of a deal and its trial and error with just about all the products but the produce. The lines were also really long and slow. I'm not sure why, it's not like coupons were being exchanged or things are being bagged. This is a fairly new store. Admittedly, I am not very familiar with this chain so I entered with no preconceptions. The location is great, right at the corner of Bloomfield and Watsessing Avenues. The store was somewhat smaller on the inside than I expected it to be. The parking lot is even smaller and VERY poorly designed. It is very easy for it to get congested by one the entrance/exit area where there are also several tight parking spaces. This area should have been engineered better. As for the store itself, it reminds me of Trader Joe's and the Target end of the season rack had baby. Aldi carries its own store brand food items, some brands you know, some seasonal home items (like chairs, fans, etc) and various grocery items. It is an odd selection though. I am not sure whether this particular store is a representative location. I walked out without buying anything. I never do that while grocery shopping. If I lived in this part of Bloomfield, I would continue down Watsessing and go to Stop and Shop. I will not return to this store. read more

This is my Aldi! As a German-American, I know Aldi very well! They are the shop rites of Germany! It's small, and efficient. They only stock things that everyone likes. No 40 different flavors of chips, no 17 different types of popcorn, no 5 brands of milk, no crazy cake and muffin mixes, no 200 ice cream flavors. Just basic food that everyone likes and eats, and they stock alot of it. Aldi works well because it's the cheapest grocery store due to efficiency. First, you have to pay for a cart, so you won't leave it in the middle of the parking lot. And to end the trip, no free bags, but you can use open boxes, or they sell heavy duty reusable bags. They also don't stock shelves, everything comes in on a pallet or box. The open it up and bam! 10 Minutes later, a whole aisle can go from empty to fully stocked with just 1 person. Because everything is so efficient, less employees need to be hired, and less employees, means more savings onto the customer. Lastly the make many of their own brands. Many of their brands are actually iconic made at those factories, just under the Aldi brand. More savings onto the customers! Enough about that, on to this store! It's usually fairly clean. I've never really had too much of an issue with that. I think only 4 or 5 people are working at a time lol! And sadly it shows.... They feel very under staffed.... Usually 1 or 2 registers are open... so lines are long, but luckily they move decently Fast! So not the biggest deal... Selection is as good as you can expect. They do a popular item, then 3-5 popular variations of it, and that's it. If I want honey Sriracha chive mango bbq potato chips, I'm going elsewhere lol! I'm good with the top 3. The biggest downfall is my fault, but they never stock enough of certain items. I miss many of their specials like pretzels, or weekly finds because I can only go at 7pm... by then the stuff I want is usually sold out. Saturdays I try and get there early, but if I'm not there by 10, oh well! Honestly meats and cheeses are a little hit and miss, but most freezer stuff is solid. Staff is very friendly, and very helpful. Deliveries come every day! So if you miss something, try again tomorrow. I love shopping at Aldi! If I get the same stuff elsewhere, it's 30% more even on sale and with a coupon. And yes their store brand quality is not as good as name brand, but when my cart is 200 at shop rite, and 120 at Aldi.... Yeah that's a massive savings! read more

I would say Aldi is a mix between a specialty store and your favorite neighborhood supermarket! I love the affordable pricing on goods I deem as valuable! The flow of this location moves at a fast pace! Long lines usually are clear in minutes! The aisle are clean and spacious. Overall it's an affordable alternative to big box grocery stores. Cheap yet good house-brand products! Love it. Their selection is pretty narrow but since it's all house-branded stuff, it's all good. Prices are excellent. So far I really like: their cake mix, baking cocoa, honey, bacon, ice cream, produce, fish, etc. 7.99 for 2 pillows? Great! I'll take 'em! People seem very confused by two things: you need to bring bags or buy bags from the store (they're only .10, so that's not a problem) and you need a quarter to get your cart. You get the quarter back when you return it. Not sure why people don't like this, it keeps cars from getting dented by rolling carts. The system has been in place in other areas for years but I think there are some people who look to complain about stuff. The place is new, neat and clean. Smaller than another Aldi I was in while traveling, but it's nice. If you buy a lot of your staple items here you'll see a big savings. read more

Aldi supermarkets are the market you go to for basic needs without the sometimes overwhelming selection that their large markets offer. That alive can save up money from "eye-shopping" where you wouldn't have bought that bag of cookies on your way to just but a gallon of milk if you hadn't seen them. The market is simple and pretty well laid out. Parking was good and clean with almost all the carts put away (one wasn't, free quarter !) You need to bring your own boxes, bags or grab some off the shelf or in the front of the store usually. This store didn't have boxes in the front,although most do. They also sell bags if you don't do any of these. Stores usually have clearance too. Although it can be hard to find, these clearance items can be well-discounted! read more

I finally made it to Aldi. I just kept forgetting that it is there. My neighbor described it as a little Costco. I dont agree. When I walked in I got more of a Trader Joes vibe. I got excited as I spotted $2 spice cookies and .97 chocolate mint cookies. But as I progressed, I became confused. The sections sort of are random. Example - off brand toiletries in the same aisle and sharing a shelf with beans? Then you turn around and see the produce? Weird. Their stock looks like an odd-lot store - a one time receipt of stock and it won't be there on your next visit. No turkey products. Limited frozen vegetables. And the bottom of the frozen seafood refrigerator had shrimp and food at the bottom How did that happen? Were bags open? Why isn't the rack pulled out and the floor cleaned? Anyway I got some toilet tissue, cookies, green pepper and oatmeal (under $2). I may come back for the international spices, but thats it. Bring your own bag, and a quarter for the cart. I visited his store this past Sunday. Worker very rude extremely obnoxious to the point that I almost left all of my items. She was not even the cashier she was the person standing beside the cashier watching the lines. NOT friendly NOT courteous NOT professional. I enjoy coming to Aldi's in Bloomfield NJ, for #1 I find the prices much more reasonable than your average local supermarket prices or deli stores. For #2, the staff is very professional and helpful and fast and efficient, I never have a problem or issues with staff. #3 They keep fruits fresh and juicy with lots of vitamin C as opposed to I found some items in another supermarket Not full of juicy vitamin C (pineapples). #4 I get more for my money.#5 I believe the staff likes seeing customers leaving out "happy" in these hard times. Today, I have a great experience with one of the workers. First, I had trouble finding some items on the floor and there was a young lady working who took out the time to walk me directly to the items in question. I continue to shop and when I went to check out I had this same young lady who was very gracious and considerate. She greeted me with the same smile she gave when I was in the isle. I was so pleased that she was patient and efficient in my check out. Before I left she wished me well with her beautiful smile. I was about to leave but I could not leave until I got her name. Her name is Layla. I appreciate Layla and all that she did for me today. She made my day easier without even knowing it. I will definitely continue to shop at this location and hopefully I will see this pleasant, helpful, gracious and beautiful personality young lady. Aldi's is very lucky to have her. read more

This Aldi's is brand-spanking new, and fairly close to my house. I used to work near the one in Rockaway, and I fell in love with basically getting giant bags of groceries without killing my wallet. One thing to keep in mind: you're not going to be able to buy every single thing at Aldi. If you're looking for roasted red peppers or capers or Dijon mustard, they might not have it. But they have a lot of other stuff, and what they do have is incredibly cheap. I have three teenagers who basically eat like adults. My grocery bill is astronomical. I can really make a dent in it by shopping at Aldi. There are things that I'm not crazy about at Aldi that I don't buy here. For example, their yogurt is ok, but I'd rather have the yogurt at Trader Joe's or just regular old Chobani. But I buy Pepperidge Farm Goldfish here because they are only $1.85 a bag. Cream cheese? 99 cents a pack. Eggs and milk? Super cheap. They also have very good frozen shrimp for next to nothing. Flour and baking staples are also very inexpensive. They have good nuts and dried fruit, and it's the only grocery store where I've ever found tangerine Jarritos. My husband doesn't care for their store-brand snacks, so I don't buy them. I don't eat a lot of meat, but I tend to get that at Shop Rite. Produce can sometimes be hit or miss, but when it's a hit, it's also very inexpensive. They also have very good parmesan chicken that has basically been the main food group for my 14 year old son for the last year. Tips: Bring your own bags or be prepared to pay 10 cents for a paper bag. And bring a quarter, otherwise you won't be able to use a cart. All in all, it has made a real difference in my grocery bill. If you go in knowing that you'll only get specific things, but you'll save big on them, then you won't be disappointed. If you go in thinking you're in Fairway, then you are going to be in for a big surprise. read more

Prices are great but the staff is a hit or miss. One time I was there and an employee was stocking the shelves. She had the big fork lift next to her but it was blocking the spice section. I asked her if she can move it and she got upset and told me to wait. Other than that, prices are great. Produce is limited but everything else is way cheaper than anywhere else, including Costco. Absolutely love Aldi! My kids do too! Their in house brands rival brand name products. Their rival brand of Gain detergent smells exactly like Gain and cleans clothes just as well. According to my kids, the snacks taste just as good too. While I still have to make runs to Shoprite for certain foods/ products that they don't have here, I try to do as much of my shopping here as possible. HOWEVER, and its a big HOWEVER, every cashier, with the exception of maybe two, are incredibly rude! On one occasion I was overcharged, noticed the mistake and the cashier didn't want to change it. I had to request a manager and have the cashier give me a major eye roll for requesting a manager. Um, excuse me for expecting you to do your job. The concept of the store is interesting to say the least and I went in not knowing what to expect. I visited the store on a late Thursday morning and the store was relatively empty. I wasn't expecting the shopping cart requiring a quarter, so I had to find one. The store is very much no frills, no overhead signs to tell you what is in each aisle, very few of the popular brands etc. Can a person do all of their grocery shopping there yes... there is bread, dairy, produce, snacks, frozen foods, detergent etc. However the basics. For example, do not expect a large variety of teas. With that said if you are on a budget and you are creative in what you buy and can live off the basics, then this store is for you. I do think they need to improve the check out line though... the cashier literally scans your items and puts them back in the cart without any rhyme or reason. They then ask you if you need bags, of course they don't mention that they charge you for each one. You then have the option to go off to the side and pack your groceries yourself. I don't know how this would work if the store was crowded. I do agree that the prices are very economical. read more
