Not really sure what all the terribly negative reviews are about. I've only been here a few times but the store is always fairly clean and organized. The prices are on par with all the other chain supermarkets on the Island and the meat and produce section is fairly well stocked. It's located next to a strip mall with ample available parking. The employees are no better or worse than everywhere else. Is it the largest and nicest market I've ever shopped in? No......but very far from the worst. read more

Just went here to buy some groceries since I use to live in the suburbs but now live in the city. They have very good quality food and the prices were very good and if you have a card you can save a lot of money (some deals are very good ... ). I will definitely come back another time. I used to stop at this store from time to time, after Church in Oyster Bay Cove -- this was in 2005-09 before we moved out of state. Now we are back and so I needed to grab a few things this Sunday on my way home. I'm confused by some of the bad reviews and scathing comments. Seemed like any typical Stop N Shop, maybe somewhat smaller in size than average. It was pretty clean and there were a good number of employees to be seen: in the produce department, at customer service, two at the deli counter, five registers manned plus the two self checkouts. They do not have the U-Scan here. Store was not overly crowded. The staff with whom I interacted were all courteous. The shelves were pretty well stocked as far as I can see, not totally full to the edge, but I think that's often the case on a Sunday. The produce and meat sections appeared nicely stocked and stuff looked good to me. I was disappointed they didn't have any Waist Watchers (Adirondack) canned soda -- though my returned cans were accepted in the machine. The biggest negative here is the bottle and can return setup -- five machines (two can, two plastic, one glass) squeezed side by side in a room about the size of a walkin closet, making it impossible for all the machines to be in use at one time because there would be no room for the people and their carts. I think one of the two plastic bottle machines was broken today. So if you're counting on emptying the trunk of your can and bottle collection, this is not the place. read more

I am surprised by the negative reviews. I have been shopping in this store for decades and have always been impressed with the courtesy of the employees, their willingness to help, and the availability of items not found in other stores. People seem to be happy to share "abuse" and "anger" nowadays, so I would add that one should check the store out before believing scathing reviews. This is the only choice I have regarding a supermarket that is close by. Yes, they run out of items that you get use to buying on a regular basis and than suddenly " they no longer carry it"?? Prices go up , however still find the prices very reasonable . I do have to say that although this is quite a small stop n shop, overall, I am pretty satisfied with it. The produce and fruit are plentiful, good selection, and quality. They do care about store cleanliness. You always see the employees hard at work, and the employees are always very helpful and friendly. The lines are never really long, and you are usually in and out without a long wait. I believe the customers to give such bad reviews are spoiled and angry people in general. It might not be the absolute best supermarket , however is far from a minus 1, 1 or 2 stars. read more

I can't believe this place is allowed to be open. There is no one taking care of this store. I've been here hundreds of times and know it was bad. I just didn't know it could get worse. There was spills left on the floor, open fruits and areas that were not even replenish. This is a big company with locations all over Long Island. Is there anyone that checks in on these places and corrects these issues? I mean people come here because the prices are great. But don't assume because the prices are so low people will tolerate these kind of shopping conditions. Me myself I would rather shop at the Glen Cove location because they are more together. Clean up in aisle - well every aisle. They were doing so well sprucing this place up too... I popped in for some small items and noticed that the floors were nasty filthy. I walk around in my own little fog most of the time, trust me, I'll walk right past you without ever seeing you usually... so for something to get my attention, it really has to stand out - thus these floors really caught my eye. Repetition of covid rules is abusive!!! Repetition over the loudspeaker repeating COVID precautions has to stop. If there is a problem with a customer, address it. But - REPETITION OF COVID RULES FOR PEOPLE NOT CAUSING A PROBLEM IS ABUSIVE!!! It's verbal ABUSE! I don't want to hear anything on a loudspeaker in a store - not specials, nothing (unless a child goes missing or there's a fire or immediate life threatening danger - not covid warnings just shut up!) Also, this store has always been dirty, never, not in years, thoroughly cleaned. The produce is very average at best. The produce section needs a good cleaning. The shelves are not consistently stocked - especially generic 2 liter seltzer that's KEPT ON THE TOP SHELF so you can't reach the 2 bottles that are normally there & only all the way in the back. Is one of the name brand club soda reps bribing the employees to not stock generic club soda? Checkout "service" sucks, there are less & less lines open & even the self checkout is overcrowded. Bought fresh wild cod today normally $10.99 for $4.99/lb. So many other great deals as well. Horrible. I can't believe this is the grocery store I'm stuck with as the closest to my house. I go to Woodbury and sometimes even Westbury because of how bad this one is. Everything is out of stock and whatever is in stock is always expired or close to it. The produce is not fresh and either smells bad or has mold growing on it. Meats especially chicken breast appear fine and once I get them home and open the packaging the underside is orange and hard. I've wasted too much money in this store and the managers are rude. I stopped in here tonight to grab some mio water flavor and a piece of candy to treat a low blood sugar (diabetic.) I stopped here because the parking lot had a lot of cars in it and the lights were still on, so I was glad they were opened late. I got the mio but before I could buy candy for the low blood sugar (which is a medical emergency) a baby-boomer aged woman, standing at a bantam 4'11 and weighing in at 90 pounds, wearing her stop and shop uniform, appeared and announced on a loud speaker in a nasty, punishing tone "Attention stop and shop customers, it is now 9:58 pm and the store is closing in two minutes. Bring all purchases to the front or you will not be rung up." She hung the phone up and stalked over to me like an angry guinea hen and circled around me. No joke! I just pretended I did not see the menacing little lady. I had a little fun with this situation and faked her out like I was going to the register, when she turned and started following me I stopped. She walked back up to me and shouted at me "ITS TEN OCLOCK, LETS GO!" I didn't get to buy the candy because the chicken hawk was staring me down with a dirty look and made it clear she was kicking me out. I guess if you are young you don't have problems like an old person, right? No young person has a serious medical condition we need to take care of. This little lady earned herself a bad review alright. I guess she's never had a job before and thinks she can kick customers out when she doesn't feel like working anymore. No wonder she's still working in a grocery store when most people her age are retired and own 3 houses. read more

This Store was just remodeled in July 2022, closed for a month. I went in today and the lighting is so high up at the ceiling the store is now dark and dingy looking. Also this is the 21st century and there still is no wifi in the store. It would be nice communicate with your family to ask certain questions that come up for a certain product. It's NEVER stocked, the people Who work there are rude and seem to hate their jobs, and if you don't look at the dates on a lot of your stuff you will get home to find things have already expired (this has now happened on more than 3 occasions). Rats are all around this property. Unsanitary conditions inside. Sanitizers are not filled. Filthy unkept bathrooms. No hot water in the meat fish area. Trollys are not cleaned. The towns can man is allowed to use Stop and Shop trolleys to gather cans and bottles from trash bins throughout the community. Yes the wagons we put our food in. Disgusting. Management does nothing about this! Children are standing in trolleys where our food is placed. Nothing is done about this. The meat department has a butcher that is rude and obnoxious! Never kondcand helpful. No eye contact. The meat department smells rancid as does the rotting fish in the fish department. i might add the produce department is neatly stocked. by a young man. A very nasty employee who is in charge of rotisserie chicken needs to be replaced. Chickens are never ready. Management is never to be found. Never enough cashiers. Overall, this store is a disaster. Is this a joke? Here we are in beautiful hamlet of Oyster Bay and this is our supermarket?? What. A. Shame. I could have given a poor review just on the parking lot alone. What a danger zone that is. But inside it gets even worse. Poor selection of produce, poor selection of meat. I basically only buy canned/packaged stuff there. The deli workers are very friendly but understaffed. Lines are usually very long even during slow times. And the self checkout computers seemed outdated even when they were brand new. This place needs work. Or, maybe a new place can open across the street where they park all of those cars. 2 things good about this store that earned my 2 stars: 1.)The cashiers are great, friendly, and seem to be more knowledgeable than the management. 2.) the selection of beer is pretty good. read more

Sorry, awful customer service. We went immediately after work and were being hounded at 10 to 11pm that they were closed (after the nasty announcement "get your stuff to the front because we're shutting down the registers" was made) when all we were trying to get was cereal and milk for breakfast the next morning. Didn't even grab a basket because it was such a quick trip. Mind you, 4 people were standing around chatting at the registers. Better way to do it? Discourteous staff, overpriced items. Stop and shop has been trying to corner the market so they can cut corners in service and pricing.

I've bought meat that was a few days expired at this stop and rob, shame on me for not double checking. Recently they have been pushing their everyday low price items but it really just doesn't make up for the terrible meat department, not my job service, nasty bathroom, stale breads and wonky register procedures. Parking is a mess here, especially post-precipitation. The store is replete with too-low signs, filthy floors, and average selection. The help is expectedly uniformed and unenthused..."the less I sell, the less work I gotta do!" Always a line... No matter when you go. They only have 1-2 cashiers open during the week. On weekends there are 3-4, if you're lucky! There are no poor quality, plastic shopping bags much of the time. They used boxes to pack my groceries once... It was either the box or I would've had to carry out over $50 of groceries in my arms! Seriously! I tried to register my daughter's school with the Stop & Shop to give credit to her school. Waited at customer service for 10 minutes while ONLY ONE customer service rep worked on a western union for customer ahead of me. Then the girl tells me that I have to do that online! She couldn't help me. This was a SATURDAY! Asked why the Naan Crisps that I often purchase here were no longer in stock. The customer service girl had to CALL THE MANAGER ON THE PHONE to ask. She needed me to repeat NAAN CRISPS 6 times! They sell groceries... RIGHT? The lighting in the produce section is so sub-par, that I have brought rotten berries home and found them to be moldy. The prices are rarely great. No carts next to one of the main entrances. If you happen to be handicapped... Good luck! Never carts left nearby - I've heard someone complain about that! One recent visit I noticed that they had a sign to welcome "Waldbaums Customers" . If they continue to treat their customers with such disdain, it will be Shoprite that will deservedly be posting that sign for Stop & Shop-Oyster Bay customers. I rarely go in there, but sometimes I will due to its proximity to me. Mostly, I would rather drive to Shoprite in Plainview or North Shore Farms or Whole Foods. Excuse me ... I didn't like the fact there wasn't enough selection of the brands and products. Some cashiers have a negative attitude on the customers.

Yes, this branch has some shortcomings but so does every large grocery store. With that said, I've been shopping here weekly for about 5 years and it beats most other stores in selection and cleanliness. And if you have complaints about the staff, go see Jose in produce or Anne in cold cuts, I've never met more accommodating and nice employees. Oh and thank you dear management for bringing back the order kiosk in cold cuts, this saves me at least 20 minutes each visit. After their recent renovation and re-opening in the fall, I love the self scanners, though it's still new and sometimes the checkout machines are broken. The staff can be friendly or unfriendly depending on who you get. The grocery options are quite adequate and as always the flower shop is pretty good to have. They seem to have less variety than the Stop and Shop in Woodbury. It's too bad they are not open 24 hours and close at 11pm most nights and earlier on Sundays. read more
