I've never been more disgusted by a supermarket. Upon walking in, it felt sketchy. Lighting isn't bright like other stop & shop locations, saw one section blocked off by sheets of plastic. I went in because I spilled coffee on my shirt & wanted to rinse off the stain. When I walked into the bathroom, I was mortified & just went to the beach to use water from the faucets by the boardwalk entrances to clean it. There was some sort of liquid puddled all over the floor. The baby changing station was wide open with brown smudges across it. There were clumps of Number Two on top of the sink drain. I used to consider stopping here for fruit when going to the beach, now you couldn't pay me to. read more

This place is disgraceful. Constantly dirty, expired food on shelves. The freezers constantly go out and they just refresh and sell the frozen food. I'll start going one town over to food shop before coming here again read more

Some of the staff at the Long Beach Stop & Shop are incredibly disrespectful and should by no means work in customer-facing roles. I am so disturbed by something I witnessed just now. I saw a man get sprayed with what looked like Febreze by a boy working near the registers there, and when he politely asked him to stop spraying, I heard that staff say to him to go f*** his mother. What!?! How is this boy allowed to work here!? Why are the managers allowing this type of behavior? I am truly disgusted. read more

worst customer service!! went to buy crab legs and they were out. I was told to come back in morning. I showed up the following morning and now there is no one that can help... mind you they have the crab legs out on display, but no one in the store that can touch it because the union member called out. This was told to me by customer service what a crock of shit! this store is miss manage!! other then the crab legs they still had outdated sales tag on several items. Didn't want to argue with the young lady that by changing me full price while purchasing the item with sales tag is up. she told me the sales was expire yesterday and I ask then why is the tags up. read more

While parking lot is large and right side is specifically for the store that is in a shopping center with other stores, sadly there is limited lighting there. Outside recycling area where many people with huge bags of bottles stay, smokers (all drugs) including employees standing under awning from the elements where one must grab an unsterilized shopping cart has to pass, no designated place for finished carts to be placed and must enter through exit way after 8pm due to shopping carts being shoved at entrance door. And you haven't even entered the place yet (and don't get "caught" not disclosing actual amount of paper bags used (which rip before you leave place and now smell like rats poop from storage) as only employee monitoring all 6 self check out registers will embarrass you if you don't pay while some customers grab stacks of bags and leave store. No manager available to assist on wrong prices and no distancing on lines especially courtesy desk (never anyone there). Please hire more people and put more lighting in and keep smokers away from entrance and passageway for customers. read more

Up until October of 2015, this was a Waldbaums supermarket. Located conveniently next to the Long Beach train station and in a small shopping center with loads of parking, Waldbaums consistently had great selection. From a butcher section willing to take orders and deliver great cuts to food from around the world, all provided by very engaged staff looking to help you out wherever they could. Since Stop & Shop took over this location, shutting it down and reopening a few weeks later, everything seems to have slipped. The store is the same size, but the selection is just not as varied. When asking staff about specific items (like German dark breads) which I'd been able to find here, I'd been told that it's not going to be the same as it was when it was Waldbaums. It's funny that a grocery store should inspire such fierce brand loyalty, but I'm going to have to regret that my old "regular" place to shop is gone and replaced by an even larger chain. Guess I'll be putting more miles on my car to head out to Fairway. read more

Don't bother doing contactless pick up unless you want your order to be messed up. They will forget to add multiple items to your bag or give you a completely different item without calling first to let you know they are out of stock of the item you ordered. When you call to complain about this, they will be extremely unprofessional about it . read more

Hello, My name Is Jason. Myself and my family have been loyal Stop and Shop customer for many years. I have never been one to write a review or complain when it comes to being a consumer, but Friday the 14th that all changed when myself and my wife had the worst shopping experience of our lives in the Long Beach New York s Stop and Shop. I'd like to start by saying my wife and I recently had a baby and our time is very limited, we had a babysitter and decided to food shop at around 830PM on 12/14/18. To speed up the process my wife Danielle and I each took a wagon and began shopping. When we were done shopping we made our way to the check out lines only to find that not a single aisle was open. That was the first eye opener and only the beginning of what was to come. We then had no choice to make our way to self checkout with two full wagons, unfortunately this was our only option. we proceeded to check ourselves out but ran into issues with the machine. The Stop and Shop employee named Maria B. Instead of doing her job and helping was sitting in a chair hanging out talking to a friend , when help was needed she started to give us an attitude. She then told me that i was not allowed to help my wife check out, as it should be one person, again we had two full wagons , there is a line of people behind us and limited space to operate and place our bags down , Marie then starts to yell at us about placing our bags to Close to the unchecked items basically accusing us of maybe trying to steal. That was when we finally lost patience with the situation, we said why don't you do this for us then Marie? That was turned down because she would actually be required to work. We were then forced by Marie to pack bags filled to the brim causing them to rip, because she didn't wanna have to assist us further with the machine nor remove bags from the tiny self check out work space . When the machine froze and Marie was needed she then refused to use her card to unfreeze the machine and allow us to continue, out of spite. Keep in mind this Is all happening with a line of YOUR STOP AND SHOP CUSTOMERS behind us, each customer more aggravated than the next that no one was working at any check out line. Another employee finally comes over to see what the issue is. After explaining to her what we were going thru with Marie she unfreezes the machine, but not before giving us a dirty look. She then joins Marie and starts bad mouthing us and the customers, loud enough for everyone to hear. Stating they shouldn't even be there, and asking each other how many people called out tonight? We finally finished bagging everything, spent close to $300 dollars and as we are leaving a bag rips, why wouldn't they after Marie forced us to do it that way. When we went to grab another bag Maries side kick said we can't have another bag without paying for it. I really hope action is taken. Again in all our years this was by far the worse shopping experience we have ever had. Once again, as new parents our time is limited, but I still felt I had to write to the stop and shop corporate office , going to the manager at the long beach store would not safice. I believe leadership is lacking in our location and it starts at the top. I could not just ignore what took place that night, not just for my own peace of mind, but for all of the long Beach customers. I expect more from our store read more

Absolute worst. The prices are not competitive. The store is dirty and just has a run down look to it compared to stores nearby. There's never ever any shopping baskets by the door where they should be, I ALWAYS have to go hunting for one. The absolute worst however is their check out aisles, they understaff and force you to use the automated lines. Their automated computers are horrendously inefficient and cause massive backups. I should have to be waiting 20+ minutes to pay for three items on a Tuesday night. Which I didn't do by the way, I left in disgust. Get your act together and for the love of God please don't replicate these store practices at King Kullen! I just can't fathom how Stop n Shop manages to buy out competitors with these awful business practices. read more

I just think the parking lot here is horrendous. It seems small and narrow and with so many entrances/exits, and turns that people make, it seems no one can really move anywhere. I was trying to get out of the lot and turn a corner, and a woman was yelling I was in her way when I was definitely on my side! Inside is fine, and the lines weren't too long. We found everything we needed, but the aisles felt narrow, displays were set up in the middle of large aisles, and it just felt blocked off and cramped. Not my favorite location. read more

I had the worst experience here today. I went in for 3 things and did not get any of them. I wanted organic skim milk. They did not have it in any brand. Looked for dole salad bags. Learned that refrigeration was down all day so salads were cooled by dry ice. I was no longer interested. I wanted mozzerella cheese. All cheeses were gone because of the refrigeration issue. All shelves were empty. This was not the first time this sort of thing happened. read more

I'm definitely not a fan of this location (or stop&shop, in general) and so my experience really wasn't shocking. First of all, their prices are outrageous - even their value items and their selection is limited and disorganized. I guess it's disorganized so that you are pushed into buying the more expensive organic items as they are easier to find. (Hidden values just seem very deliberate and I don't like stores that openly trick or confuse the consumer to make more money). Secondly, no one seems to work there and whoever does has no idea where anything is located. Third, the checkout process is a nightmare!!!! I was waiting on line for regular checkout but then self check out was open and I usually prefer that option as it is quicker. NOT IN THIS CASE. Here's how it works: you need assistance for every other item and the machine trips up if you don't fill THREE BAGS before removing all three, no one at a time. Also, there are some items that you shouldn't scan the bar code on because it doesn't work. Literally, I had a problem with every other item and the associate felt this was normal and would give me these explanations as if they were obvious. (Skip bagging option doesn't really work and also confuses the computer). The three bag requirement was VERY annoying for items that need to be bagged alone (eggs)...I know there's a need to conserve on bags but it's hard to pack three bags at one time every time. After each person at the checkout had to constantly ask for the associate, she loudly asked another coworker to switch with her because it was annoying. Overall, though this is two blocks away from my house I have to look elsewhere. read more

Now that the city requires reusable bags or else you pay a fee per bag it seems that the cashiers also no longer bag groceries. Management needs to instruct the cashiers to say to the customer using reusable bags "do you have a bag for me to put your groceries in?" Instead of standing there doing nothing! The checkout process now takes twice as long because the customer has to do their job. read more

My review is solely on the bakery department. I needed a cake for a coworker and after failing to get one at Baskin Robbins, which was not open despite signage saying they should have been, i came here in desperation. The people at the bakery were outstanding. they had plenty of fresh cakes, the type we needed, and were very friendly with getting the cake personalized for me. I was out of there is 10 minutes with a cake that was delicious! Way to go! read more

I now remember why I never went to this stop and shop even before the day it opened when it was the other market. Its disgustingly dirty if you know the area its worse then Oceanside waldbaums was. They never cleaned the bathrooms since it was waldbaums you want to vomit the moment you step into them. I ran in because I needed something quick and didn't want to run to Oceanside. Ill never do that again ill waste the extra 10 minutes to get to the other store in bumper to bumper traffic. Pretty much have to agree with all the other reviews, this store is the same size of its predecessor Waldbaums, but with a less of variety, sales, staff and registers that actually work. Their meats look awful, produce is slim and overall feel of the store is that of rushed and jaded. Not a pleasant experience. read more

A lot of people come here because it's the only large supermarket in the neighborhood. While the service is acceptable, there product assortment could be better. The salads at the deli bar are often expired and I end up throwing them out. Could do a better job checking the freshness of the products. read more
