This store has a guy that wipes the handle down after you bring your pushed, biggie in.. we already wiped ours down before we touch it, but the effort was so pleasing and gave me a good impression. Once again this store location is a terribly managed location. You have so many people who are grossly unprofessional I don't even know how they are still in business. Now I'm not saying that about everybody who works in management or working at the service desk because there are some good ones, but unfortunately the bad ones over Shadow the very few good ones. I needed to call customer service and regards to my delivery order and was spoken to and treated with total disrespect! As well as giving misinformation! They have hung up on me at least twice out of the six or seven times I've had to call back the store. When I finally got somebody else on the phone from the customer service desk the stupid lady is over talking me as the customer demanding I listen to her and I tell her I am the customer and she needs to be listening to me. So instead she puts down the phone on the counter and I'm basically talking to myself over the phone and then somebody else picks up the phone that wasn't the person who I initially was talking to! I had to wind up filing formal complaints against this store because they were totally incapable of doing their job and handling simple tasks such as talking to and dealing with customers! 071324 Regarding my experience at Stop and Shop in Hicksville. I have been shopping at this store for decades. Over the last 2-years, I have noticed a change in their policy. They seem to think that the routine customer service behavior experienced with their competitors is not needed at their store. For example, on many occasions, recently, the check-out person after the check-out is registered, just stares at you. After the stare, I ask them if they were going to bag the groceries. They say that the customer bags the groceries. I challenge them and they say they thought that I did not want that action until I mentioned it. When I complain to customer service, they ask me to point to the staff member. I refuse because this happens over and over again each time that I visit the store. Consequently, I believe and have complained to management that it appears to be a store policy under the circumstance. The issue is that if the check-out person is going to assume something, it should be that the customer wants the groceries bagged. It places the customer in an awkward position to have to complain while other customers are being delayed because of the incident and they have to hear me complain. read more

Either a customer left it in an isle or the refrigerators they were rearranging had failed. Naturally we made the discovery as dinner was finished. You need to check the expiration dates on the chicken and other meats because twice I've bought chicken only to bring it home and then notice the sell by date was two days earlier. Doesn't take much for them to check dates on items out for sale. If they let that go, I can only imagine what else they let go. read more

The place could have been cleaner and my main problem was when the self-checkout paused, a worker did not come over to fix it for a good 5 minutes. This is a well-stocked supermarket that is reasonably priced with pretty much everything you need. It's not visually stunning but it's spacious and has ample parking. An Excellent fruit and vegetable department highlights the shopping experience. I bought a flower from there last night. The price tag said 9.99. When i went to the register I realized there was no barcode. The associate came right away and asked someone else the price. The other person said 19.99. They were too lazy to walk over to the flower section. Thats ok so i went over picked up another one and scanned the price. And it was in fact 9.99. So far so good I'm fine I'm not mad. But then the lady that works in the flower section passes by and she looks at me and says " i know my prices i work in that section" with a disgusting attitude. I mean, it is a grocery store. What's not to like? It's very clean and to be honest, I find it to be better stocked, cleaned, and employeed than the location in East Meadow next to Hell (that is my name for Walmart {I shudder to even write the name of it}). The staff are all smiling and helpful. I have always been able to find every single item that I have needed and the deli counter guys are pretty entertaining to watch as they banter when they are slicing the meat and the cheese (preferably Boar's Head). I have never had to wait long while trying to cash out and have never waited at the self-serve register. Like juice or chips. After looking for a near by market to do my weekly shopping at an affordable price. I can say I'm happy that I've found this place. (Cause I am not on assistance, I wish I was sometimes) There is another one in the Barnes and noble parking lot the same distance from me the other way on old country but this Stop and Shop feels better. Shopped there today. As I was leaving I had to go to the customer service area. Behind the counter was a young, masked man and an older woman who had her mask pulled down serving people. When I complained about her mask, she started arguing with me that she had just gotten back from break, and throughout did not pull up her mask. As she had been behind the counter when I arrived and there were three people before me, she had not just gotten back from break. But, even if she had, she should have masked properly when she came back. I left the store without conducting my business. read more

Tonight on September 3, 2019 at approximately 9:30 PM, I was food shopping and heard several Stop & Shop employees at the registers yelling at a man that was walking out with an entire cart full of food without paying for it. A young worker named Aaron stopped him and a manager with glasses I don't know his name went outside as well and they retrieved the cart full of food. I found out what happened, then asked Aaron and the manager aren't you going to follow up with the police? Aaron responded "nah, they don't pay me enough to do all that" and the manager had a weak smile on his face and was beet red. I as a customer, as well as others I spoke to tonight, are concerned about our safety and find it completely unacceptable that management or staff will not follow up with police on this incident or similar ones that have occurred in the past. What if he returns with a gun next time and goes on a shooting spree? These are real concerns that have to be addressed in a professional manner. If this manager won't step up to the plate and act like a manager, find someone to replace him, and while you're at it replace the employees with the piss poor attitudes. I heard one person say teamwork makes the dream work in reference to the situation that they were talking about 20 minutes later, but what teamwork was shown? How is the team protecting its customers or themselves with such a lackluster attitude? I would rather drive further and go to a better supermarket than deal with this one any longer. read more

The only pleasant thing about this store is, well it's actually only one person there that's always visibly busting her butt and still manages to make my deli stops feel like I'm going to a family member's house. Ms. Merchant is what those lazy, texting imbeciles should be directed by management to emulate. By far Ms. Merchant is Stop-n-Shop's best employee, how long before she can manage her own department. This supermarket has been drastically taking a downward spiral. The restroom, if you happen to need to use it, is disgusting and smelly. It is no longer modern, and gives the feeling of a supermarket that needs a major overhaul. The appetizing counter is from the days of yore. Although their produce selection is not bad, the whole produce area is blah. The only positive about this supermarket is the scanner. You can pick up a scanner at either entrance if you scan your Stop & Shop card. As you shop, you scan every item and place it in your bag. When you're done shopping, scan the bar code on the scanner at the register, and viola', you pay! This is THE ONLY reason I keep going back to this store. I don't have to shop, then unload everything from my cart onto the conveyor belt, and then have to bag it. It is a time efficient way to shop. But be careful, today I scanned my Stop & Shop card at the first station to pick up a scanner. The readout said no scanner were fully charged. Ok, no problem. I then went to the second station. Guess what! The readout was the same. As I was about to leave the store (no other reason to shop there), I tried one more time. I get a scanner. While walking around the store shopping, many people were talking about the lack of being able to get a scanner and how the supermarket is dirty and gone down hill. Oh, and they do have two registers earmarked only for patrons using scanners. One of them has never worked! Definitely not a market I'd recommend. read more

The store sure has changed, a lot. The aisles are constantly blocked with boxes, even at 1 in the afternoon, the ice cream is still sitting in the middle of the aisle. The help is ruder, managers are nasty. The store has become a mess, and its a real shame. I use the scan it system they have, it is much more convenient then waiting in line. They have a random audit, they say its to make sure the scanner works, I believe its because they don't trust their customers. I have had two random audits, which were fine, come to find out the first audit everything was fine they only scanned one or two items off the top to make sure they were scanned, then the second time I over scanned a few items and actually almost spent more money. Today I once again had to go through another random audit, I refused, they wanted to go through the ENTIRE cart this time, I said no, dumped the items out of MY reusable bags and left the cart in the middle of the floor. When I saw a friend in the lot she was leaving for a similar reason, I guess today due to the holiday weekend many people were getting checked. I would have had to wait a half hour to get my things checked, this is of course after I already properly bagged everything the way I like it, as stated I have had 2 checks done, both were fine and worked out in my favor. If you want to check my things fine, then do it immediately and bag my belongings the exact way I had them to begin with. I have decided to no longer use the scan it as well as to go to a different supermarket all together. When they work the kinks out then I might return, as well as a way to deter theft which I believe these checks are all about, I dont think they are checking to see if scanners work, I think its to see if we as customers steal. I think its a shame, if they cant find a better way to deal with this problem then get rid of the system until they find a better way to check this stuff. read more

Very Poor service, they have kiosks operating for their deli department that they don't answer to, they are set up for you to place your order while you shop and when your done with your shopping the never got the order. and when they get your order its never the way you ordered your cold cuts, ie.. I ordered a half pound of ham sliced thinnest, I get a pound of ten slices sliced thick and so fourth with the rest of the order. Dang, y'all, why the hate? The selection is comparable to other S&S spots, and everyone I encountered smiled at me.

Until this past Sunday I would have easily given this store 4-5 stars. However, after spending my usual weekly $200+ while shopping with my elderly mother,I was stunned when the cashier said they had no more plastic bags. I had about half a dozen of my own reusables, but nowhere near enough for what we had purchased. All they had to offer were flimsy paper bags that ripped as we were trying to fill them. When the manager finally came over he mumbled something about how there were no bags since the truck hadn't been unloaded. I wrote an email to Stop & Shop customer service and received basically a brush-off "we apologize" written by someone who doesn't sound like English is their first language. I would think that anyone dealing with customer service should at least pretend to be literate. This used to be my favorite store but lately I've noticed that the new staff doesn't seem to be very well-trained or polite. I always try to get on a line with a cashier I know, but there were only three lines open on my last visit, in spite of the fact that the store was packed. I am very disappointed in the way this store is going and I hope it's just a glitch because when Stop & Shop opened in Westbury it was head and shoulders above the competition. This is my favorite Stop & Shop. There's always great deals and bonus coupons in the flyer and they let you double up. I save a great deal of money shopping here. The fresh produce is always great quality and there's always great cuts of meats. The employees are very helpful. The lines are long at times but I usually just use their self checkout. Whenever I come here expecting to get just one or two items I end up getting at least $50 worth of stuff because the sales are terribly tough to resist. I also like the fact that they have both large shopping carts and the mini dual level carts. I know where everything is so I just grab a little cart and zoom through the store. I also appreciate the fact that they supply purel wipes at the entrance. Some stores just don't understand the importance of that. After I handle the meats I always grab a wipe because I don't want to touch my children with raw meat residue on my hands. It's very easy to contaminate your other foods and get sick. The store is always very organized. Everything is well stocked and neat. This store makes my shopping experience efficient and enjoyable. read more

this stop and shop in hicksville ny is really going downhill i bought bbq chicken breast in cold cut dept. when i got it home it was the wrong item . it was marked as bbq chix breast and inside was some other chix, .which was disgusting.i brought it back and the management didn't even care or say they were sorry . this is not the first time this has happened in this store. they never clean the cold cut slicer . it always is full of shreds of cold cuts sliced before. that deli dept is disgusting. i will never buy cold cuts again there. that store is dirty and is always out of in items and is too exspensive. i will not shop there very often anymore. read more

Since this one of the closest large grocery stores to my home, I find myself coming here often as I find that they have what I need and for the most part, they do a pretty good job at what they do! Entering this Stop & Shop, I find the atmosphere to be nice, as this store is clean, well-kept, and bright, with wide and well-stocked aisles to help make grocery shopping easier. If you enter the store from a counter-clockwise direction, you will first find the large produce department on the right, which has produce that tends to be above average in quality and fairly priced, such as bananas priced at a low $0.49/lb, Dole Lettuce bags priced at $1.99/8-oz. bag or $2.99/16-oz. bag, strawberries priced at an average $4.99/lb when they are not on sale, and many more items. In addition, they also have a pretty good selection of organic produce! Past the produce department, there is also a deli, which has decent products and average prices. While I have never used them, there are also meat, seafood, and dairy departments past the deli towards the rear of the store. In the grocery aisles, I have found that the selection of items is comprehensive, which is great as they have everything you need to make it as close to one stop shopping as possible. Not to be overlooked is their great selection of natural and gluten-free foods, which are usually priced reasonably. I have found that they have a good selection of Amy's Frozen Rice Crust Pizzas, which come in handy for me as I am allergic to eggs and wheat and make for a delicious meal priced at $7.99 ($0.50 cheaper than Shoprite and $2.00 less than Whole Foods and Fairway). They also have a good selection of gluten-free pasta, but it is a bit pricey compared to say, Trader Joe's, as it is $4.29 for a 12-oz. bag of Tinkyada, while it is $1.99/16-oz. of the Trader Joe's Gluten-Free Penne, which is comparable. They have a nice bakery too, but I have not really used it due to food allergies to eggs and wheat. Overall, I find the regular prices to be average (not as good as say, Shoprite, but not bad) and the sale prices to be very good to excellent! While checking out used to not be the best experience, as waits would be long, I have found that this Stop & Shop has made great strides in this area, as they tend to have a lot of lines open and the cashiers, like Deon on my most recent visit, tend to be friendly and efficient. This is very good as I like to kick it old-school and check out with a person as opposed to using the self-checkout, which can be wonky at times. Overall, this Stop & Shop is a solid grocery store and it is always good to shop here in my book! read more

This place deserves zero stars. Shame on me for returning to this place even after all the bad experiences I have on a weekly basis. Never has what I'm looking for and the deli department is the most incompetent place I ever been too. Like how f**king hard is it to cut meat????? Instead of talking to the idiots behind the counter I usually use the machine where you place your order and pick up later. 10/10 times I used the machine I either have a item missing or the order was ignored completely due to incompetence. Today I made the mistake of returning to the trashiest stop & shop on Long Island. I used the machine to place my order since their was about 15 people waiting in line. I ordered simple things like BH honey turkey, BH pepper ham, Munster cheese, and BH salami. My number was called to be picked up. I go to the deli to pick up the order and with no surprise my order was missing. I asked where my order was and the deli worker responded " someone must've stole it "?????? Who the hell takes a order that wasn't theirs less then a minute after the number to pick up was called?? ( this is the incompetence I mentioned ). Understandably frustrated at this point I declined the offer to re order and walked away. My wife was on the other end of the store and responded to the second overhead call to pick up our order that was missing. She asked how come the loud speaker asked to pick up a order that was missing and two idiots behind the deli counter unprofessionally screamed at her for no reason at all. The third deli worker that was clearly more competent looked over the deli order and explained that the reasoning behind the order being missing was because they were out of everything I ordered. I don't know how you can have a functioning deli and not have basic items. I don't feel as if I requested anything difficult. This is the last straw, I will not be shopping at this stuper market anymore. Do yourself a favor and go to Fairway that's near by, Trader Joe's that I frequently go to that's just down old country road or take a longer trip to Whole Foods. very easy access on the phone, instructions to reach the department that was needed to contact which was deli. the store clerk via on the phone was a male, very courteous, proffessional. He answered my question in a fast speedy manner while I was at work. The only issue with this store is when you go in late at night they are so short handed that even the cash registers that you can do on your own which is generally fast had a line. This whole chain is in a hiring freeze, it is hurting us as the consumers and this is not fair, considerate. Stop & Shop is slowing down in progression, they need to start re hiring, bringing fresh faces, new blood into the stores to regenerate business, reputation. As of now Waldbaums is not on a freeze, they are even more buzy than ever. When you tamper with profection you can make it imperfect. I started going to Stop & Shop in Woodbury (Jericho Tnpk), and was amazed by the friendliness and comfortably relaxed attitude of the employees and the managers there. Some great buys could be gotten during their sales, and I rarely needed to get a rain check (stock was usually pretty good... unlike some other competitive stores). I switched over to the Hicksville store (it is closer to my home). I was certain it couldn't have that same comfortable, friendly, helpful, and relaxed feeling... but I was thankfully wrong. It too proved to be very friendly. It's nice to be able to not be on my guard. Good store, Good people. Because of finances, I have to pick up some sale items at other, less friendly stores, but this is, by far, the preferred store to shop at. read more
