1 Star because you can not give less. Prices high, meat looks gray and old, items on shelf out of date.

I had occasion to meet Jason while I was shopping. I knew he must be "somebody" because he was all over the store, checking things out, talking to customers. I spoke to him about some of my concerns and observations. He agreed with me, and in fact was already working on the areas. Anyway...if you need help ask, and if you have a comment, good or bad, I think the store manager genuinely wants to hear about it. I was in the store on August 7th. Wow! Who did the floors? They snap. Makes the entire store more inviting. And, so long as I'm rambling anyway....the employees in this store continue to rock. Always super helpful and friendly. Ok. I'm done. Good store. Good people.

All I can say is that the smell that came out of that meat could have gagged a maggot. Just awful! Yes, I'll get my money back tomorrow! But, now I have nothing to grill tonight and I have to drive back to the store and get my money back! Grocery stores around here do not care about quality. If you want good quality meat don't go to Stop n Shop!

The entrance is inviting with beautiful sunflowers, fruit & vegetables. As you enter the store you see the famous apple cider & donuts as recommended by the locals. There were so many choices of good and they have tables inside to sit and enjoy them. We chose the selection at the service counter & was greeted quickly with a smile. Enjoyed the plain apple cider donuts more than the sugar coated ones as they had a bit of a crisp to them. Even took some donuts home on the plane ride back and they were delicious, tasted fresh as we devoured them.

What made it worse was how uncomfortable the young associate made us. She didn't really say anything, but body language indicated she was annoyed or bothered. We were having some quick banter with another customer after my boyfriend made a joke, and still nothing. Prices were through the roof. In the prepared foods the tiniest scoop of stuffing was almost 9 dollars and honestly how do we not know you are just making stuffers? Nothing looked special about it. The cashier who helped us was simply miserable. Another uncomfortable situation. She never said hi, had a puss on her face the whole time? Why are their employees so miserable?

I actually have no problem with this Big Y, whatsoever. Granted, I have limited purchasing…read moreexperience here, as we only stop in on our way to the Swift River for a day of kayaking. We enjoy a picnic lunch almost every weekend, and Big Y Palmer helps us achieve that. Our usual purchases: fried chicken, a deli "side" item, some fresh fruit and a bag of chips. The fried chicken is always terrific. It's never dried out, and every time we go, someone has been bringing out new 8 piece combo bags or rotisserie chickens. Their deli side items are hit-or-miss, especially the pasta salads: the tri-color rotini was too oily and the spinach-gemelli pasta was underseasoned. A little more parmesan/pecorino romano and some pepper would go a long way. The fresh pre-cut fruit was affordably priced ($2.50), but seemed unripe when we opted for the watermelon. Very crunchy with little flavor, like it was part of the rind. I guess to me what makes this place worthy of 4 stars is the service. Every time I'm back at the deli counter, there's always a team of employees ready to help. Even the other customers are polite and helpful, helping locate utensils and napkins. I avoid the check-out lines at the front, which usually aren't that long anyway, by paying back at the deli counter. Although the summer is winding down, this Big Y will remain on our radar for next year, where it's just a quick stop off the road-- and easy in and out-- for nabbing some picnic supplies.

Big Y apparently does not offer hand baskets anymore? Of course, you have to bring your own bags…read moreor pay for paper bags that fall apart. The prices here are much higher than Shaws in Sturbridge. Their deli has a limited selection and is priced insanely high. And the people stocking the shelves will not move to allow you to get items off the shelves. The only reason I'll go back here is for an emergency item I need if I'm in the area.

Their services include self-checkout and instacart, even Hannaford to go and they will bring everything you ordered to your car. Lots of parking, staff seems friendly. This is a staple in North Brookfield and if it wasn't here there would be a problem. Their pharmacy is nice and convenient, I have all my prescriptions sent here as I am also a local. Somewhat smaller location when compared to a city; expected with location. Amazing what they fit into location (even has a mini hot bar and olive bar, well kind of). Little make your own pizza section is nifty. Only issue I ever had was 1 moldy items; impressive considering 200+ times i've been over years (was a pre-made calzone, must of been packed hot). Details: Produce: Often fair to good; no real issues other then missing less-common items at times ie; (cilantro, small bell peppers, etc). Veggies are decent and no real complaints. Fruit is also fair to good; sometimes avocados, tomatoes and grapes can be more B quality do to green-packing. Apples are usually excellent with local orchards. Cherries in summer are always fantastic. Meats; typically well stocked; will be outages/missing items at busy times. Pork is is very affordable and often a bargain, overall ok meat. Steak/beef is outrageous (but it is everywhere now) and quality is hit or miss, not alot of stock / selection. Chicken: mostly ok, good selection, usually in stock. hotDogs, hams, bacon, sausage: always fully stocked and good Turkey; never in stock (sad face) Coffee, drinks, almost always well stocked; great selection. Bread isle is probably the worse (still not awful); often un-stocked or missing items; tends to be the more messy isle. Pricing is always moderate range; average full cart ranges at 200-250 range if I am not paying attention. Some price shenanigans; but not awful (they all do it). (My seltzer and coffee beans seem to be hitting inflation like crazy) Staff; always friendly. Lines; not bad, no more than 5mins usually. Covid lockdowns; pretty much gone; no stupid isle markers / arrows, dirty looks or other forced mask mandates. People acting like humans again (always a good thing).
