When I read that Monowhales were going to play a show at a brewery in Sarnia, I didn't have to…read morethink long before buying a pair of tickets. The band always puts on a terrific show and I'm always down to explore a new area and try some local eats. We arrived at Refined Fool probably about an hour or so before the show, and we were able to snag an absolutely choice table mere feet away from the stage. I tried several of their beers, starting with a flight and then moving on to a couple of pints, and I enjoyed all of it. I also figured I should eat something, so I went ahead and ordered The Spicy Coward ("Fried chicken sandwich topped with slaw, pickles, and Spicy Rebel Sauce"), and we decided to share the Poutine ("Guerrilla fries topped with St. Albert cheddar cheese curds and housemade gravy") as well. Everything was delicious. I enjoyed the heck out of my chicken sandwich, as it contained a perfectly-fried piece of chicken that was complemented by a tasty, zingy sauce and those pickles and slaw. The poutine was a cut above, as well, as it packed a spicy punch and the gravy itself was far tastier than most. We inhaled everything happily. As a music venue, Refined Fool is an amazing venue too. As I mentioned, we were super close, so it was just such a treat to see one of our favorite bands so up close and personal. And it was pretty great being able to sit the whole time. I'm almost jealous of people who live in Sarnia now, because if Refined Fool is any indication, they've got it really, really good.

This brewery makes some very good beers and they experiment with all sorts of creative libations. The names, pretty witty as well. I grew up in this area and this place is so needed in Sarnia. Mr. T says, "Good brews Fool!"

They have around 8 other brews on tap from other brewery. They have a out back patio with turf that is pretty nice and they are working on a project upstairs to be opened later. My rating is based on comparison to sarnia restaurants Food wise: 3 stars. Flavour is there. I think the sriracha cauliflower was by favourite app. The fish and chip was probably the best main. Reason is the food was over cooked by alot. The lamb taco was dry (you got to really cook it to have dry lamb). but it is worth it for $3 to add one. Hopefully the food is dry because they are newish. Heard the other chef alot better. Drink wise 4 star. This is all dependent on you. Ordered a moscow mule - ok. Plenty of room for up to a party of 12. Place has a bit of darker look. No child seats. Parking on the streets free for 2 hours.

My husband had the flatbread pizza with Prosciutto...it was very tasty. I had a Chicken Caesar Salad....it was wonderful minus the pico de gallo... that was a weird add to that salad. The drinks were awesome as well. We will definitely be back.

In as much as Great Lakes perch was unavailable, (they had European perch) my friend and i opted for the walleye. Walleye was prepared either pan or deep fried. We both chose the pan fry option. Instead of sides, we got Manhattan Clam chowder. The chowder was flavorful and thick like it should be. My serving also had a reasonable amount of clams. My only complaint was way too many large potatoes which take up a lot of space and offer very little to the overall dish. Our walleye was very good. Our wives both ordered Buddha Bowls. My wife thought hers was "too mushy" and her meat choice of carnitas had no flavor even after trying sauce and salt. Service was excellent and attentive.

The food went downhill from there. I ordered the fried perch. I got two and a half, yes, a half, filet of perch. When I questioned it, the waitress said they weigh the fish and two and a half fillets were 4 oz. The fillets were only 2 inches Long! There is no way that two and a half fillets was 4 oz. My husband ordered the ribs, they were dry and chewy. My friend ordered the smashburger which was severely overcooked. Her husband ordered the chicken kabobs. They were the best food we received that day, but the taziki sauce was just tartar sauce. The atmosphere and view are awesome. So maybe consider going there for drinks and appetizers. Seems like the food is hit or miss. Ours was definitely a miss.
