We hired Eric to do a tile design on our kitchen wall behind the stove. He was super cooperative in scheduling his work around that of the other subcontractors. When he started the job we discovered that the sheetrock contractor had left a very uneven surface for the tile so Eric had to redo that wall, which hadn't been part of the job description. He was very gracious about it and did what it took to make a perfectly flat wall. I've been remodeling my bathroom and normally do all the work myself and have done my own tile work in the past. The remodel started to become a long drawn out process and I finally got tired of doing the work and was also, for some reason, paranoid about installing the tile on the wall. Most simply offered a quote except for Erick from Stone It Up. Erick offered, for a small fee, to come to the job and go over the installation and actually lay out a pattern on the wall so my wife and I could visualize what the tile would look like when installed. He spent a considerable amount of time with us and we found that his advice and the wall layout to be extremely helpful. Based on this we decided to hire Erick. Long story short, Erick did a great job and the wall looks great. In addition he was very professional, including laying out drop cloths everywhere he had to walk and doing a complete clean up after. I got several bids to tile my kitchen walls, and Erick seemed knowledgeable, experienced (I had seen pictures and videos of his work on Instagram), and his price was fair (in the middle of other estimates). I picked him because he seemed like the best quality for a reasonable price. I had a very specific tile style and pattern in mind. Erick and I agreed that I would buy the tile and Schlüter strips; and, his bid included all prep, labor, and consumable materials (e.g. grout, tape, etc.). Right off the bat, Erick put a lot of time into measurement and prep, which I appreciated. He is very meticulous about the layout. PROS: - Erick's tile work / alignment was flawless - Grout work was neat and perfect - Erick is very easy to work with and a nice guy - Erick shows up and works hard - Erick organizes his tools and cleans up - Erick is honest and trustworthy CONS: - Erick oriented the pattern 90 degrees off the picture of what I wanted, but he made up for it by throwing in a granite window sill to match my counter at no extra charge, and finished work looks awesome. I am pleased with the result. - Erick was meticulous, so the job took a few days longer than expected but it was a flat price, so it took more time but no extra charge. - Minor details - he put on brand new stainless steel outlet covers using the old screws with paint on them. Replaced my Nest thermostat with a different screw than it had. The window casing he made to conceal the edge of the tile needed to be sanded at the edge because it was not cut perfectly straight. These things took me 5 minutes to fix. Overall, I am very pleased with the work Erick did, and I would definitely consider him for future work.
