I had the Reuben, which came with a salad. The meat was thick-cut and the sandwich was delightful. My daughter went with a salad without any protein added and enjoyed it. My wife does not now remember what hers was called, but was seafood on lettuce. Another excellent choice. Service was great. They were attentive, but scrambling. This is another location I try to stay away from, but had to try this place! It's located in Haleiwa town near different shops and places to eat so navigating people on foot is the part of the headache of coming here. There were lots of space for parking right next to Stonefish grill when we were there. I was so happy to see they had many healthy choices on their menu. I'm watching how much I eat and I decided to just stick with an appetizer. I ordered the calamari and it was completely scorched, dry and it felt like it's been frozen in a bag for a year. One comes to expect somewhat fresh seafood on an island and we've always had really great experience in this restaurant. So it's a shame that this wasn't freshly sliced and prepared but even frozen ones can be prepared correctly. These definitely tasted like they've been frozen for a long time and they definitely overcooked it whether it was frozen or not. Even after removing the batter, it still tasted awful. We love coming here, but I'm wondering if they've changed chefs. My dessert was amazing. It's pounded Taro with vanilla ice cream and coconut milk. My husband and I were looking to support a local business post Kona low flooding and wanted more of a sit down experience for lunch. This spot had a great vibe, excellent service, and good food. I had a crab cake salad, which was good--nice sized crab cakes, but a little too cakey if you know what I mean; I like mine mostly with crab and not too much filler. My lilikoi kamikaze drink was amazing though! My husband had the katsu-style fish sandwich and fried, which he enjoyed--the fries were yummy too. Went for brunch with my husband today. Had the avocado croast. Only downside it could've been cut open and less lemon basil. Lemon basil was a bit over powered and due to the bread not being cut open it made it seem so dry. Minor fixes. Love the staff, super friendly. Breakfast days at stonefish are my favorite. Good food and get to listen to Jinna perform. She's one of my Ohana's favorites as she reminds of Amy winehouse. We will miss these places when we move to the mainland. In February we came here and had prime rib for the first time and it was delicious and cooked so well. We decided it was our new place for prime rib. It was tasty and the price was reasonable. I was craving steak so we decided to head to Stonefish for dinner yesterday. We've eaten here since February but hadn't had the prime rib since. We arrived and it was a tad early for dinner so the place wasn't crowded. We sat outside which was nice because the weather was great. Lance was our server and he told us the specials but we told him we were there for the prime rib. He told us the minimum temperature yesterday was Medium. We prefer medium rare, and thats what we had in February, but we thought Medium would be fine so we ordered it. My boyfriend joked that someone must have left it in the oven too long which is why Medium was the only option. We also ordered onion rings and while they were good, they were overdone. It took 15-20 minutes to get our meal so not a long wait. The meat definitely didn't look appealing but we dug in. I really tried to like it and even told my boyfriend it wasn't bad but the more I ate it the more I disliked it. It was more done than medium and I'm not used to prime rib being put on the grill before serving. It really was a stark contrast between the one we had in February and the one we had yesterday. We even discussed if we even wanted to try it again in the future since it was so bad this time. Just not sure if it was an off night or if we just got lucky in February. Since all our food was overdone maybe it was a fluke. We'll likely try another location in Haleiwa that offers prime rib. I had been in O'ahu, Hawaii, for several days, searching for a great fish meal. My quest came to an end at the Stonefish Grill on the North Shore. The atmosphere was perfect for a meal in a beach city. The hostess and the entire staff went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. Came here for lunch with a friend since it's not that busy at the time. We were greeted by the girls upon entering. The restaurant is pretty neat and cozy and I definitely love the vibes. I just ordered Caesar Salad and their 808 Cheeseburger. Actually it's not the best but it was good enough for my palate to enjoy the burger. Their salad is pretty fresh but I kind'a don't like the dressing. I end up not eating the whole thing. Back to the burger, I love the savory taste on it and I did appreciate the staff when I requested my patty to cook it rare as possible. I would definitely order this if I come back here. Meanwhile Kevin inhaled his plate like he was being timed. Man didn't speak. Not a word. Just vibes and chewing. The Prime? Flawless. You literally cannot mess up that cut unless you try, and they clearly did not try. We shared a Tiramisu that honestly made me question every Tiramisu I've ever had before. We expected a typical tourist spot with so-so food, but we were wrong and pleasantly surprised. We shared a bunch of pupu starters: calamari, steak pupu style, crab cake salad, and oysters with mignonette. All were fresh and flavorful. Their seafood chowder deserves a special mention. Do not ask questions, just get it. The Thai-style coconut broth loaded with seafood was incredible. I slurped it up to the last spoonful. We also shared a monchong entrée with rice and salad. The fish was moist and lightly seasoned, allowing the natural flavor to shine. Drinks were strong and perfectly tropical for our tourist-for-a-day vibes. Even though we're both light eaters, an extra half spoon of those red fried potatoes would have been a plus bec they're so good too! Gluten sensitive mom+ kiddo and wanted to share the menu. Within 20 min of consuming gluten I get a migraine behind my eye and no migraines from stonefish grill! We ordered the fish sandwich to share and the kiddo ate most of it, which says a lot. We asked to season it with just salt and pepper, as the kiddo eats low FODMAP - and they grilled as requested. The bread looked and felt like a normal bun so we hesitated eating it, but I ate a portion with no issue. My husband ordered a salad with chicken and they cooked the chicken perfectly with just salt and pepper - for low FODMAP sensitive people (it seems they are able to accommodate) although we didn't request it cooked that way. We enjoyed our family meal and recommend it for GF or FODMAP sensitive people. I'm must note we do not have a gluten allergy so I didn't inquire about cross contamination. read more

We came the end of lunch time, around 3:30. We had an option of sitting inside or outside, we decided to sit inside. It was super nice inside with a nice ambiance. Our waitress was really nice and attentive, and had a training waitress assist as well. We got the lunch menu, where I ordered the ola boy sandwich with extra crispy fries. The fries were very unique and also delicious. The sandwich was good if you want an Asian styled fried sandwich. It has a slaw and eel sauce on it, which was good. Also, The chowder was so delicious. I would just a big bowl of it next time. Star of the show, would get again. We also got the loco moco. We were not a huge fan the flavor of the meat, very meat forward and not charred like other loco mocos we have had before. The rice and egg was good, but would probably try something else next time. It was lunchtime and we wanted to get out of the rain. We decided on Stonefish. We were seated quickly and the server was friendly. Started with the calamari which arrived hot and crispy - good appetizer to share. Given the reviews, I had to try the seafood chowder and it didn't disappoint. It was a good bowl of chowder and hubs noted it was probably one of the better ones he's had. Kiddo ordered the blackened ahi - she liked it but may be pricey at $20 for about 5 slices of ahi. She also ordered the rangoon which was served with a sweet chili sauce and a mango salsa. Goat cheese may be a strong cheese but it paired nicely with the mango salsa. Hubs ordered the prime rib loco moco - very hearty dish and full of flavor. I ordered the fish katsu sandwich - soft bun and a good sized piece of katsu. Good, although I think I'd prefer a tartar sauce vs the katsu sauce - not a big fan of sweet sauces. Our meals were enjoyable. Service was good. I wouldn't suggest getting the avocado toast as it was pretty uninspiring (could've really used some more seasoning- a sprinkle of some rock salt and Za'atar could go a long way). The Malassada pancakes were good (think fried pancakes) but could've used some fresh fruit on top or something (the table next to us got the banana pancakes which looked quite good) . The coffee was lukewarm and we sadly were never offered a warmer or refill. The fruit plate was great - the fruit was fresh and it was a bountiful spread (though greek yogurt would've been a nice sub for the banana-ish vanilla yogurt). The half eggs Benedict got rave reviews from my father-in-law (and love that they offer the half Benedict option). Wanted to find a place to sit down and eat and be served in Haleiwa, didn't want to go eat at a take out place, food truck or sit in the hot sun. Decided to check this place out. Nice place, island vibe, open seating area outside as well as nice inside tables with a bar and some bar tables. There were college football games playing on the TV's at the Bar so my husband wanted to sit there, we were seated at a high top right next to a big open window that looked out on to the lanai where they had the outdoor seating. It was a cool day, thank goodness and there was a nice breeze coming through. There were a mix of tourists and locals. The host was very friendly and seated us quickly, and he took the time to ask how our day was going and we commiserated over the traffic going through Haleiwa, he shared how long it takes him to get to work even when he lives close by. Our server was also the bartender, she was friendly as well and took our drink and lunch orders. By the time we were leaving it was pretty busy and she was the only bartender on duty trying to take care of her customers seated at the bar and bar tables as well as making drinks for all the other servers. She apologized for not checking on us towards the end, but we told her no worries we saw she was getting slammed. Drinks were delicious, the Lilikoi Kamikaze was so pretty and tasted like just as pretty, the Smokey Treat was their version of an Old Fashion, my Hubby enjoyed it! The food was delicious too, The Cheesesteak meat was thinly sliced and easy to bite in to without pulling the meat out of the roll and I was happy that they served it French Dip style with the Au Jus. The hostess is located on the other side, by the parking lot, not where you enter on the sidewalk by the street on the patio. We got seated promptly at a nice outdoor high top that had one of the fly fans on the table! Our waitress was very nice and brought a bowl of water for our pup. The fish dip was really good, it just needs more crackers or bagel chips because we finished those and had more dip left... The drinks were really good too! The spicy margarita was SPICY! I love spice and I was taken aback. I adore it but if you cant handle much more than a Jalepeno, I'd try something else. Everything was great until a screaming child got sat right behind us and honestly ruined it. We couldn't even hear ourselves and it stressed out our dog. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some recommendations. We took a scenic motorcycle ride down to North Shore with our neighbors. Walked-in after 12:30. Tourists spot! But luckily got seated right away. Nice hostess. Nice interior. Open air atmosphere with AC running but still....the summer heat was brutal & doors being wide open wasted the AC.... Server Ryan, was very helpful and busy as they switched over from breakfast Menu to the lunch rush. We ordered drinks. I had POG, everyone else had Mai Tai's. Expect to wait a little as they are quite busy. Other staff members were helpful at taking our requests. My Smoked Local Fish Dip was excellent! Fish was Walu (Sunfish). Ordered an extra side of toasted bread since there was lots of dip! A must-try! I also ordered the Roasted Beet Salad with wine poached pear, mandarin oranges and candied walnuts, and goat cheese. Great presentation! The Stone Fish Sandwich "Blackened" with chipotle was spicy, yet very tasty. Would ask for less dressing next time. Fish was Ono. Our Neighbors ordered the 808 Crafted Burger & Bri's KC Chicken Sandwich. They said it was really good. We had such a great ride this weekend.
