****** UPDATED REVIEW****** I've brought my cat here 3 times now. I like the convenient location of the clinic because I live across the street. First time was for new patient visit and vaccines, second for her teeth cleaning which was over 700$ and then third time to recheck an area at the base of her tail because she was missing hair- $200. I usually give my cat gabapentin for long visits or wellness visits where she gets shots like her vaccines and obviously for her dental visit. But for a random check up on a small itchy lesion on the base of her tail that had already been previously reviewed, I didn't think to give her the gabapentin. She just got weighed and she just got given antibiotics from her dental treatment and she's not showing any symptoms of disease or sickness. Well, the assistant got clearly annoyed with me when I told her I hadn't given Darla any gabapentin, then she grabbed my cat without asking and said they were going to have to take her to the back to review her, when I asked why, because I just needed a visual opinion from the doctor about her hair loss spot, she said "because you didn't give her her gabapentin and she's known to bite" ---- After posting this review the manager of the practice, Duke, who said he's been here 17 years, apologized and gave me a credit for the service that was rendered without consent. Dr. Hundt is our favorite. We have a very sick kitty and she's super thorough, explains everything and helps with both disease and symptom management. When we boarded the cats she kept us updated and we felt so at ease knowing both our cats were in such good hands. We were recently referred to Stonebriar by two of my coworkers and so far our experience has been wonderful. On our first visit we did a general wellness exam for our cat and she was very nervous and went potty all over her crate before even being examined, but the staff were so kind and took care of cleaning up our cat and the carrier and were very patient and reassuring. We boarded our cat for the first time this week for 4 days and the staff called to update us that our cat was nervous and struggling to eat. They provided such great details about how she was acting, NUMEROUS attempts and strategies they were doing to try to help her to be able to eat, and asked for any input to help her. Above and beyond is an understatement. So clear that they care very much about the animals' well being and not just housing then for boarding (side note, cat eventually did start eating after she adjusted to the new environment). The staff updated me at pickup of exactly how much she ate, urinated, etc. Very thorough. We plan to continue all our vet care and boarding here. Thank you! read more

These people really care. Here are my indicator 1. Sitting on the floor with my dog who has vet anxiety, instead of forcing her onto a metal stand like some other vets. 2. Answering all my questions, never felt like they were trying to rush me out. 3. I had to get a prescription refill, they could have easily said "ok come in let me see your pet again" but instead refilled it on the phone. This is my first and hopefully last negative review I will ever write! But I truly had to warn you guys about this place. I just recently moved from Orlando and needed a place to board my cat Charlie, as my husband and I had to travel for a few days. I did my research and figured this would be a great place to board Charlie. When Charlie came home he was completely disgruntled, disoriented and he had marks on his paws. I immediately called Stonebriar Veterinary Centre and asked to speak to a manager as I wanted to know what happened. I was informed by the receptionist the manager will call me back.......I never got a phone call! I'm extremely busy so once I saw Charlie was back to himself two days later, I left this alone. I never got a call back from anyone and figured they just don't care about the animals or their customers. I emailed these people two weeks ago, asking if someone can please contact me, I just have honest questions and concerns, I just want to know what happened. You guessed it! I did not receive a call or an email, and so although I will never know what happened, at least I can warn you guys about this place, find somewhere else to bring your loving pets too they obviously do not care about your pets and their customers. read more

I've found my vet. This place was so good to my baby and I was never nervous about leaving him here. My cat had been drooling and I took him to Frisco Pet ER and they were not able to give me an answer. I brought him here and they were immediately able to diagnose him with some bad teeth and wanted to get him prepped to extract the teeth that day. They didn't waste my time and assured me that they would take perfect care of my baby. They called me to let me know updates along the way and were so nice in their messages! When I picked him up, he was a completely different cat. Back to normal! No more sickies! I would never go anywhere else. Dr. wilcox has been my vet for over 15 years and we adore her. I also love Duke he is so helpful, kind and both of them exude such a caring attitude for my cat whose name is Sir Charles Nicholas. He is now a 14 year old Maine Coon cat that I adopted. Last year I had used a pet grooming service that a woman owns with lots of cats on the side of her new gorgeous new mercedes type mobile grooming unit. The woman abused Sir Charles and I will not tell you the name of this lady but she has been in business for a long time. I thank Dr. Wilcox and Duke when they showed me his x-ray exactly what had happened and after I left I just cried. I have switched to Aristocats and they take excellent care of his grooming needs. Don't be fooled by 5 star reviews this groomer should not be able to show her dogs or groom anyone's cats. When she brought him into my house after grooming his back legs were paralyzed and he could not walk and now he has a bad spine and arthritis but SVC is helping us tremendously. Personally, I would not use a mobile groomer because you can't prove anything unless you have a camera inside their unit. Anyway, I needed to let you know about this. I call before his visit and they are prepared to take care of him as soon as we check in. She knows how to keep his stress levels low and we no longer need sedation for each visit. We are new to town and needed a vet with boarding because our dog is older and always felt more comfortable having a vet there in case of an emergency. Boy were we wrong about this place! Our dog was examined by the vet and we were given a report that he was in great health. When we got him home we noticed he was very lethargic and there was dried blood in his bed and all over the blanket he had during boarding. I examined my dog and noticed no visible cuts and while I was examining him I noticed a foul smell. I put him down to prepare a bath and he started popping blood all over the floor, that solved the blood mystery. My husband called the vet and left a message in the general voicemail and he wrote down the number for the pet ER on the message. We called the ER and we were told to bring him in immediately! We found out he had a GI infection and had we not brought him in he would have been dead by morning. The vet at the ER asked if the staff at Stonebriar called us or mentioned the blood? We told him we had papers that said he was great during boarding just a bit shy. The ER vet was in disbelief that nobody noticed the blood. $450 later we headed home and our dog had a lot more energy. We stayed up all night to ensure he was doing okay, the folks at the pet ER did a great job! The next business day my husband called Stonebriar again and got the receptionist on the phone. They told him they never got a message about calling us back or that our dog was ill. He requested that the vet that originally examined my dog when we brought him in for boarding call him back to discuss my dogs health and to let him know his boarding staff did a poor job. We have yet to receive a call back from the vet! For a vet that mentions in the Yelp profile that he is caring...I would say that's not the truth! WARNING: DO NOT trust these people with your animal. I love and care for my pet, that is why I am writing this review, I don't want other owners to put their fur babies at risk! read more

Over the years we have visited many of the Veterinary centers in the Frisco area. Stonebriar is fantastic. The vets are competent and caring; the place has a feel of a home away from home for our English Bulldogs. Of course they take wonderful care of them, the staff knows them by sight, and the little extras regarding their care are great. Many of the vets around the area do a good job and have excellent facilities too. But it is those moments when hardship strikes regarding your pet and how the vet responds, that Stonebriar separates itself from the rest. They took such great care of our dog and family during a medical crisis that we cannot ever see trusting anyone more with our bullies. read more

Decided to give stonebriar a try after being frustrated with my regular clinic in west Plano. Took my pup in for just a routine check of an ear infection. In and out in no time. Yeast cleared up with the ointment within a week. The part that really impressed me is that after a week passed, they called to see how she was doing. I didn't answer the first few calls, but they persisted for a few days, which would normally be a bit annoying, but instead actually felt like they truly cared about whether the topical they had given me was working and she was feeling better. I have been coming to this Vet clinic since 2014. Upon my first visit the vet told me my Boston was overweight and that I was feeding her too much. She weighed 21lbs and was all muscle. She is now 12 yrs old and still 21lbs and all muscle. I also hated bringing her in every year for her annual because I knew I would have to go into the battle of which vaccines I'm ok with and which ones I am not. Fast forward to 2021 there was a male vet. in there for Lola's visit and I absolutely LOVED him. He didn't pressure me into any vaccines, listened to my reasoning and agreed! It was so refreshing to not be scolded for making my own educated decisions for MY dog! Well I got another Boston in 2021 and called to schedule her first appointment with the male vet, that is when I was informed that he was a travel vet, filling in for them and is no longer there! so we started seeing Michelle the new vet. She is very friendly and on the first 2 visits she wasn't pushy/ car salesman-y. In 2022 it was time to get Roux spaded. I had it scheduled for Feb 23. Well she went into heat on Jan 7th. So I had to call and cancel that original spading appointment. She went in to be spaded on March 10th. Jennifer Link DVM called to discuss how the surgery went. (I was surprised to find out Michelle wasn't the one doing the operation). Link: " hi, I just wanted to call and speak with you since we haven't seen Roux since she was a puppy, Roux is doing well, she is a awake. But we give them medication prior to being put under and she threw up...Roux vomited a very large amount of food" to which I replied "did she?!?!" Link: "yes and when they throw up that much that indicates that they were fed close to or past 9pm" ME: "no I'm the only person that feeds them, they had their last meal at 6pm" LINK: "ok well you are clearly feeding her too much. Which brings up another point she is very over weight!" Me: " she only gets 3/4s a cup 2 times a day" LINK: "you need to switch to 1/2 a cup... she's overweight and she will not be growing anymore so you need to get her weight under control" ME: "hmmm well she's only 9 months so she has at least 3-6 more months of growing but ok." (Also she weighs 15lbs, the average weight for her age is 20.5!) then she proceeds to tell me roux is in heat and that I am suppose to inform them when the dog goes into heat because operating on a dog in heat can be dangerous. To which I replied "is she still in heat? I originally had the op. Scheduled for Feb 23 but cancelled it because she had went into heat. We waited 7 weeks from the time she stopped bleeding to schedule the op. Again" Link:" well I don't have any of that documented I am just going off of what I have in front of me, I guess she just has a very large uterus" then proceeded to tell me because she vomited she gave her another injection ( added cost) so she didn't throw up anymore under anesthesia so I said ok. I don't know why Dr.Michelle didn't do the operation so I was taken back when it was Link on the phone. I thought I got away from having to deal with her rude tone and pushy salesmen antics. The spade cost $500! Plus the $100 lab work prior to the spade. So to sum it all up pros: 1. The facility is beautiful 2. The front office staff is very friendly 3. They are good to the animals 4. Location is great (well not right now because of the construction in Legacy is a freaking nightmare) Cons: 1. Link has horrid beside manner 2. They are VERY pricey, definitely priced for the area. 3. VERY pushy about lab work and dental work. 4. Very salesman vibes, all about up-charging and add ons. Roux is doing excellent after her surgery, the stitches look great! The vet tech called to check on her the next day. Honestly, if the male vet were still there I wouldn't be switching clinics, even with them being on the pricey side. He didn't come off as a salesman and I felt like I could trust what he was saying. I don't mind spending money on my dog when it is justified and necessary. I don't trust the Vets at Stonebriar when it comes to what treatments are absolutely necessary for my dog verses them just trying to make more money off of me. So I have decided to leave the clinic after 8 years. read more

Today was my dog's first visit to Dr. Wilcox. He was in for his yearly exam and vaccinations. Dr. Wilcox was very friendly and thorough. She even gives a printout of everything she examined which includes notes on things we discussed. I honestly was very impressed with service. She was very informative and helpful. Her assistant was also very informative and helpful. We are new to Texas and I'm keeping her as my vet. I would definitely recommend her. read more

I have been a client of Stonebriar Vet Clinic for a few years now and feel very blessed to have found such wonderful care takers. I take my three dogs for their regular 6 month and yearly exams and one of them is an Eng. Bulldog which has medical problems frequently. The staff all remember my pets and their unique needs. One of my pugs has terrible anxiety when getting his toe nails trimmed so I have given up and now let their technicians trim them. They understand that pugs do not like to be constrained so they do not hold him down and force it, instead they are very patient and let him walk around the table just trimming one nail at a time. When one of my dogs broke their leg they made themselves available immediately and helped find the best orthopedic surgeon for me to take him to for surgery. When they were puppies I used to take them there for day care a few days a week in order for them to play off their energy and they always had a great time. It was so nice to come home with worn out puppies that just wanted to eat and go to bed! I appreciate the level of care and service they provide whether it be an emergency or I just need a refill of my dogs heart worm and flea preventative. I have recommended them to friends and family who have also been very happy with their experiences. read more

These guys are the best! I drive all the way from McKinney to take my pets to them. They are always super friendly and fast to get me the help I need! I was running late to pick my bunny up from staying the day for treatment with them and they kindly waited an extra 30 minutes to close just to let me grab him (I had an emergancy at work). I'm so impressed! I felt awful for being so late but the staff was so understanding. ESPECIALLY the vet tech I spoke to (short blonde girl). I am editing a review I posted recently about Stonebriar Vet Centre. After addressing my concerns with the owner, who was proactive in finding solutions to my "complaints". This is a good sign of someone who cares about her business and her customers. My complaints were valid and my dogs are a top priority and I am a worrisome parent!! =) We had continued to go to them even after my negative review because I do like Dr. Mensik and to give them the benefit of the doubt. She has been outstanding and taken very good care of our dogs. I highly recommend her. Extremely bad! Stay away from Dr Wilcox and her practice if you want your dog to be taken care of. If you want to waste your MONEY, go for it! They will get to it when they get to it. My dog has kidney disease and I was told we need to get a "plan of action ASAP" well... I waited and waited and when I finally called they said the dr was too busy to get to me and that she didn't even have time to eat- this was at 2 pm and she was already gone! She was supposed to call me the next day, and since I didnt hear from her, I went to visit her practice and she didnt have the DECENCY to come out to discuss next steps- instead, she sent her assistant. I asked for a call back from her and I said I was going to keep coming back if she didnt call. Once she finally did, she was RUDE and DISGRACEFUL! She didnt want to hear me and just wanted to tell me how she wanted to get things done with my dog. I could keep going my I'm not going to waste more of my energy on this so called vet. Again, if you have all the time in the world to wait for the Dr to call you on your dog's situation and ALL the money in the world to keep giving her medicine it doesnt need (I was asked to give it antibiotics it didnt need as her lab results came negative) go for it! We have been taking our dogs to Stonebriar since they opened over 10 years ago and we had seen Dr. Wilcox at another clinic prior to that, so all that to say we have a long history with them. We cannot say enough about them. All of the Doctors are very knowledable, patient, caring, thorough and take their time to follow up and follow through. We have had new young pets, adopted pets with health issues, worked with them as our dog got older and very sick and they have always been there with us step by step through everything. We have absolute faith and trust in their expertise and are lucky we have such a wonderful team of doctors that we can depend on. It took us several years and vet clinics to find the team we are comfortable with that provides the kind of care we need and want for our dogs but we found them. The vet techs and office staff are equally as good and it is obvious that everyone who works there really cares about animals and their owners. I have always felt that the care and professionalism of this facility is superb. I have had several animals live out their lives with the care of these great doctors. The pricing for this facility isn't greater than anywhere else I have encountered. What you do receive is the best diagnostic advice aside from going to Texas A&M and access to speak to a doctor if you need to. I went to Stonebriar today for the first time because my cat got sick and stressed out after he was boarded at another place. We just recently moved to Frisco from Dallas and after looking at other online reviews, I decided this place was worth going to. The Stonebriar facility was very clean, the staff was very friendly and I checked out the upstairs cat boarding area in case I need to board my cats there in the future. Since I have two cats, I noticed that the corner rooms were larger and would be a perfect fit for them next time I decide to board. The vet I saw was Lollie Mensik and she was wonderful. My cat took a liking to her immediately and put his paws up on her shoulder to say hello. This is rare for my cat and rarer for cats in general! They tested his urine while I waited and found he had a bacterial infection. They gave me some antibiotics to administer at home. The prices are in the high range there, but you pay for great service and they are definitely worth it. Also, the cat guru lady, "Aunt Stacey" visited with me and gave me behavioral tips on how to work with my cat. She does cat grooming/spa treatments, speaking engagements and also takes appointments for consultations. It is very nice to know that this vet office/boarding facility has such a specialized person who knows cats. read more

Avoid like the plague. Overcharge bc of area and aren't open on Saturdays. Kept my 3 dogs bc I had bonchitus. I came back to pick group up from getting shots, maybe 2hours later, they charged for stuff not needed and to boar...18 bucks or so, for each. Then, when the dogs got outside, they pee'd for what seemed like 10 minutes; they hadn't taken them outside. Enter at your own risk. Search for best vet for you and ur family, no matter how long it takes, and don't play the overcharge bc I can game with these vets. Find a good, country vet out in the wilderness; they tend not to have large overhead, which causes these vets to rape ur pocketbooks, in my estimation. Your dog has allergies, get referral to dermatology vets at Animal Surgical CTR at Trinity. Don't let them charge u out the wazoo, just to pay for same thing at dermatologist specialist, bc these vets will. Same with eye and joint issues. And be careful of these blood test they charge 100 bucks for. Ask questions and understand options; don't be too emotional bc that how they get you and later you'll realize you overpaid all. read more

Our English Bulldog had been having urinary problems for a couple of months. Our old vet attributed the problems to a stubborn Urinary Tract Infection. After 4 rounds of different kinds of antibiotics, we decided the problem was more than what was diagnosed. We made an appointment with Stonebriar Veterinary Centre for a second opinion and got an appointment scheduled very quickly. At that first appointment Dr. Mensik evaluated her and performed a x-ray. Within 20 minutes of being there, she found 3 bladder stones and had diagnosed the problem. She gave us options before suggesting that we have them surgically removed. Since our dog had been uncomfortable for a while, we knew that was the best answer. Dr. Wilcox performed the surgery a week later. The surgery was successful and our dog has felt 1000% better since. The entire staff was SO great during this process. Tabitha, one of the front desk employees, kept us up to date the whole time before, during, and after the surgery. They answered all of our thousands of questions, put her on a new diet that will hopefully stop the formation of any new stones, and have been so patient with us since. We will never take our dog anywhere else now. We truly appreciate their expertise and excellent customer service! read more

My family has three dogs that we take to Stonebriar often for check ups, shots, and boarding. I also use another vet by my home in Dallas for certain procedures for price reasons. When taking my dog in for day care and a few shots last month an employee had asked if I wanted a fecal sample done where I clearly told him no because I get that done elsewhere (for half the price). He let me know that my dog was due for it in one month, and I told him I would get it done elsewhere and bring in the papers. I picked up my dog later that day and paid for his bill. One month later I get a bill in the mail for a fecal sample. I went in to have my dog go to day care and when I picked him up later that day they tried to have me pay for this fecal sample that I had no idea was done on him against my wishes. I told them that I was not paying this bill because I strictly told them not to do it. I had to speak to three different associates who had no idea what they were talking about until I finally had to re-tell my story for the FOURTH time to the owner. I was there for over an hour and it still did not get resolved. There are plenty of other vets in the area that will not try and rob you, so I will be taking my dog elsewhere. read more

I'm not a big online person, but I got on the website today looking for a link, and saw the reviews and thought, Why not tell everybody how great this place is! My husband and I were one of the first clients here. We moved to Frisco in 2002 with our 3 dogs and needed a vet. We have never taken our animals anywhere else. Dr Wilcox and her staff have seen us from puppyhood all the way to the end of life; most recently our 7 year old Chesapeake Bay Starbuck who had a rapidly growing sarcoma and died way too young. Still makes me sad writing this, but the care of her, and all of our animals, has been and continues to be so compassionate and knowledgeable, we will never take our pets anywhere else. It is very evident that they care about our dogs and us. Even when I have given some constructive criticism at times, it is welcomed and the problems get fixed! My dogs are my children, and when I leave them here, I don't worry about them. When I pick them up, they are always exercised and happy!
