Every room has an ocean view, it's right on the beach, and the staff is super friendly. They offer a simple breakfast, everything is clean, and even with the rustic charm, it still feels really comfortable. It's dog-friendly too, which I love. The vibe is just so chill--nothing pretentious. You see people fishing, hanging out, having drinks, families and dogs enjoying the beach... just good, normal people. The back deck is perfect, there's easy parking, a fridge in the room, and even a parrot to greet you when you check in. Can't say enough good things--can't wait to come back!

I decided to sleep with the curtains open and got to watch the sunrise over the water before even getting out of bed. The bed itself was comfy, the internet was speedy, and, thanks to the kitchenette, I was able to save money by cooking during my stay. I also appreciated the warmth of the staff, who kindly stored my backpack while I ran a road race between checking out and catching the commuter rail. If you're a fan of the ocean and of cozy settings, this may well become your favorite inn anywhere!

My friend and I had a two-night reservation, and when the storm was forecast, I proactively contacted the hotel before our stay. I simply asked if we could move our reservation a few days, from Sunday-Tuesday to Tuesday-Thursday, so we could still stay at Ocean House after the storm passed. I was even willing to pay any difference in rate. That request was denied, and I ultimately had no choice but to cancel the reservation. Afterward, I reached out a second time to try again & explain the circumstances and ask if they would consider a goodwill gesture, such as a credit toward a future stay. I was told again that they would not make any exception. I completely understand that hotels have cancellation policies, and I'm not upset that they have a policy. What disappointed me was the complete lack of flexibility or customer goodwill during an extraordinary coastal weather event, particularly when my original request was simply to move the reservation and keep my business. As someone who travels and has hotel stays frequently for my full time job, most hotels go above & beyond to accommodate if the request is reasonable. I genuinely wanted to visit Ocean House, and this experience has unfortunately changed my impression of the hotel & their management. A little flexibility in an unusual circumstance would have gone a long way toward creating a loyal customer. The lack of customer service, empathy, and un-willingness to do the right thing for their guests during an extraordinary situation is extremely disappointing.

When they say the best breakfast in Gloucester, it's not an exaggeration! The couple that owns the Inn/Cafe are very hospitable and welcoming people. I've been visiting for the past 15+ years and every stay and meal has always been exceptional. Additionally, the staff they hire and employ is equally committed. It is truly a five-star operation. We were recently up in the area visiting Gloucester and Rockport. As always, one of those mornings meant we had to stop at Atlantis Oceanfront Cafe! It is a MUST. I almost hate letting this gem/secret out. It is the best place for breakfast with the very best view. It is post-card perfect. Your window table overlooks the rocks+water and you can visually see and hear the waves crashing against the rocks. It doesn't get much more picturesque or scenic than that! While the menu has changed a bit since my last visit, the quality has not. The breakfast portions are very generous and everything is of the highest quality. Our favorite is the eggs Benedict. Those perfectly poached eggs resting on top of those bakery-quality English muffins. The tender Canadian bacon. The perfect amount of creamy, perfectly seasoned hollandaise sauce. The side of tender and perfectly seasoned breakfast potatoes. It doesn't get any better than that in my book! Another favorite of mine is their GIANT Fresh Blueberry Pancakes. They remind me greatly of every childhood trip to the Atlantis and Gloucester. I've always told my family if I had to have one last breakfast, let's hope Atlantis Cafe is in season! I am not joking either! Service is always top priority. Friendly and expeditious. The kitchen is open to the dining room and their culinary takes true pride in every plate they put out. If you're looking for the best breakfast with the best view in Gloucester, Atlantis Oceanfront is the place. I did notice the secret has gotten out as of late! We did have a short 15-minute wait this last visit. Parking can also be challenging given the lot size and guest/staff vehicles parked for the Inn. The patience is worth the reward! This inn is a photographer's paradise whose main features are the massive picture windows in the rooms combined with the inn's position overlooking an expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear morning in the back yard of the inn (house rule: stay off the rocks!) I have caught some of the most beautiful Atlantic sunrises of my photography career. Rooms are very well maintained with a very nice gilded age air. Inn keeper Randy is very helpful and thorough and explains things clearly and is very accommodating. Mind you this not a traditional bed and breakfast, it has no expansive common areas or on-site kitchen. Breakfast is provided off site via voucher at another very nice location with everything you may want or need. If you seek a peaceful out of the hustle location with opportunity for peaceful and serene Atlantic Ocean views Quarterdeck Inn by the Sea is practically unbeatable. The bathroom- hope you're not overweight because you won't fit in it. I'm not kidding (see pics). Just don't do this to yourself. The bed was the worst part. I'm so sleep deprived now.

Granted, it was cheap and in a good location, but it could definitely use some detailing. But, I don't think there was anywhere else to stay in Manchester by the Sea. Oh, the kicker was when we came down for *breakfast* (bag o' english muffins, oj, coffee) and the inkeeper says, "you bastards are finally up!" I guess they call that Massachusetts Charm. So, if you're driving up the MA coast and need to pull over for a quickie, this will do. Otherwise, check out the town of Rockport, just north of MBTS. There seem to be several cute places there.

Really enjoyed the pool in the afternoon and the bar is a nice touch. One of my favorite things to do is read a book by the ocean with a cocktail and The Yankee Clipper Inn might be my favorite location in Rockport to do so. Breakfast was solid, check it was easy. The parking is a little wild, but that's New England, you're on a cliff. I'd like to go back and check out some other rooms, they all seem to have a unique vibe.
