First time visiting Stone Canes today - it's such a wonderful place to try a candle-making class! I bought a Groupon for the candle-making class, so it was a great deal and our instructor was extremely sweet and helpful. Had such a fun time picking out scents for the candles (there are two shelves full of fragrance oils for you to choose from). They use a coconut wax base for their candles, which is a healthier alternative to paraffin wax candles. Also, they had a selection of candles on display and on sale, so I ended up buying another candle as a gift while I was there. Great experience, would recommend :)

Came here with my teen for a candle-making workshop, led by the wonderful and patint Anya. In short, it's a wonderful way to spend a couple hours while learning a new craft! Our group consisted of about 10 people. We each sniffed and selected up to three of our favorite scents to personalize our candle making experience. We learned about mixing and complementing different notes for a satisfying scent, as well as how to add colors to our wax for varying effects. During the 20 minute cool down period, we checked out the store and neighboring business. And we left very happy with our handmade candles and newfound craft. Highly recommended!

Lovely shop and one of my new favorite local businesses in Santa Monica! If you're a candle lover or just shopping for a candle here and there, come here over anywhere else. They use 100% coconut wax which means healthy for you and safe for the environment. For a fun, unique experience, take a candle making class offered Tuesdays and Saturdays. The hour is a fun learning experience, inclusive of choosing two different scents (loved my combination of pumpkin spice and vanilla!), mixing in and coloring the wax, and decorating your own box and you get to walk away with your own creation or the best gift. The candle making class is great for a date night, hanging out with the girls, or even teambuilding! We were able to book 50% off their normal class price by booking with them directly. Free parking is in the back and you can also pop over to Mel's Diner next door for lunch afterward. My only regret? Not finding out about Stone Candles sooner!

My friend bought tickets from Groupon to make scented candles (half off the original price). I've never done it before so I agreed. Stone Candles is conveniently located right off the freeway. My friend and I arrived 15 minutes early to check-in and we each had to pick out two scented oils for our candles. I ended up picking the Ozonik and Fleur D'Orange for their light and floral fragrant since I hate candles that are sickly sweet. Anya, our instructor, was very professional and would keep us updated on when the class was going to start. She gave us a quick math lesson on how much scented oil and coconut wax was needed for an 8 oz. cup. The process was hands-on and very easy to follow. We even got to decorate our own boxes while our candles were cooling in the freezer. Only complaint is that color is mixed up. I thought I was using red because the label said "RED" on the tissue it was sitting on but I was actually using orange. I should've checked the bottles instead of the labels. I ended up with a peach candle instead of a pink one. Oh well... Overall, despite putting the wrong color into my wax, I had lots of fun throughout the whole process and really ended up liking the scent of my candle. Highly recommend this class!

    Lol. Wow.

SCENTED PILLARS, SCENTED SCULTURES A variety of beautifully scented candles of different color, shapes, and size. The wax sculptures are funny (spread wide open eagle style wax legs, wax feet, wax heads, etc). I love aroma therapy and scented candles with definition because it flirts with the one of the five senses. Something about the burning of candles and dim light is romantic, so why not create your own scented candle to set the mood for those 'romantic moments'... because I love a good seduction. CANDLE MAKING CLASS The store has a back area dedicated to their Candle Making Class worth $60. The classes gets filled up quickly and its required to call in advance to get into the class (Tuesdays or Saturdays, 2 classes per day). The class is about 2hrs long; arrive early and smell a bunch of candles, pick 1-2 scents, and prepare to make your candle. The process is VERY simple... elementary simple. After making our candle and waiting for them to dry in the freezer we were welcome to the decoration station to decorate our boxes. We felt like we were in elementary and some people's box was as if a 5yr old went to town (crayon scribbles, bedazzle jewelry, paw prints, butterfly cutouts)... yah no thanks. The scents I picked... "Mer Du Corail" - rejuvenate. T: spicy, cardamom. M: Amber, sandalwood, orchid. B: Mango blossom, strawberries, vanilla. "Santal Nior" - it didn't have a word of purpose but the smell was light and deep. T: bergamot, lemon, orange. M: lily, jasmine, rose, cyclames, peach. B: soft woods. 1oz of scents, 70% Santal Nior and 30% Mer Du Corial. 7oz of hot soy wax. The color I chose was a light ocean blue (2 drops of blue). The combined scent does not smell like the description of each above... it has this amazing smell I cannot put into words. SO AMAZING that I named the candle in the way it makes you feel when you smell it. CASHMERE SUBMERGE - made in CA, by Jaba. Mer Du Corail + Santal Nior. Jaba approved. Until the next candle session...

Everytime I go to stone candle to get my candle supplies for my business, I've always had a great experience with customer service. The store is well organized and they have a variety of different fragrances to choose from.

I love the pink sugar scent I always come here for that. I've tried the candle and just got the room spray. It smells like candy I can't find it anywhere else. A sweet employee named jas recommended me the scent she was always so helpful and nice. Now I always go back for this scent!

Stone Candles is my favorite LA guilty pleasure. I leave with a giant smile on my face since I never leave empty handed! They make beautiful decorative pieces for the house & gifts. The candles are high quality and rival other luxury brand candles. They have private and group candle making classes, which are a fun, relaxing, and creative way to spend time with friends! I've been back twice with different groups of friends and it was just as fun both times. Each person leaves with their own uniquely designed, high quality candle. They also have non-scented candles, essential oils, and soaps. The staff and the owner are professional, helpful, and awesome! I am happy to support a this great local company. Tip: There are often new candle designs and scents to explore! Ask the staff!

We had Victoria as our guide, and she was super funny, helpful, friendly, and patient with us. She let us try multiple combinations to find our perfect scent for our candles, and even gave us some suggestions when we were stuck on what scent would go best with what. She walked us through how to adjust the color of the wax, and educated us on the general candle making process. The candles only took an hour to solidify and were ready for pickup, so we just grabbed a quick bite while waiting. Would 10/10 bring a friend here to do this again, and HIGHLY recommend taking a class with Victoria! She knows how to work a crowd and made the experience 10x better!

The staff were super nice and helpful and fun and engaging. They offered suggestions even though there were 25+ of us in various stages of attentiveness. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. I had such a nice time that I booked another experience to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This time was different and felt ... perfunctory. We arrived right before our scheduled time, I was starting to tell the person who received us (I was told she was the owner even) that we had arrived quite a bit early (like we got there before the store even opened so we walked around for a bit before arriving 1 min before our reservation) before she abruptly said no it was already time and everyone else had gotten started. Just reminded me of the plethora of email reminders I'd received from them reminding us to arrive on time, allow time for parking, etc. She didn't even greet us or say hello or welcome. Never introduced herself, never asked our names. Just a "do you have a reservation?" And told us to put our stuff down (didn't tell us where) and put on an apron. We ended up putting our things down on someone else's seats because others were standing in front of ours while four others were choosing their scents for their candles. Told us we'd have to wait since there was no room for us to choose our scents so we just stood there. No one even said, hey why don't you wander around the store for a bit until space clears up. And why rudely tell us they'd already started when we just had to stand there and wait anyway? I really felt like we were in the way rather than paying customers, so I told my girls they could look around the shop for a minute rather than awkwardly stand there in front of someone else's seats. The person who helped us with our candle making was nice but kind of just gave us instructions of what to do. One of the girls mentioned how it was kind of like chemistry class so we all talked about science for a bit. I reminded the staff that the day was for my daughter's birthday (I had specified on the reservation) so she gave a quick little happy birthday before moving on. I didn't feel she was particularly helpful though. I asked how we can decide how much of one scent versus another and she just said you kind of just smell it. My daughter asked if she could make the color of her candle a little lighter and the person was just like, well, we can't guarantee what it will look like, but she was very helpful in breaking up the colored wax for her. When we returned to pick up our candles, that was it, they were just sitting there on the counter, packaged up and crammed into one little bag. I wanted to ask for another bag since each candle was going to a different household, but the staff gave off vibes of "go away". I distinctly remember the first time, each candle was packaged in their own little bag with the lid off the candle and they told us it was really important to let the candle "cure" and completely dry for three days before putting the lid on or lighting it. This time the candles were sealed up, no thank you for coming. No I hope you enjoy your candles. I can only assume this day was an outlier and maybe the staff were having a not great day. The experience is not cheap at $60 for which you create a 7 oz candle. I understand the cost isn't just for a candle, but for the experience of creating. The cost of the materials was probably minimal. But for that expense, I would have expected the experience to be a little less icy and a little more friendly (like during my first visit). Thankfully, my girls enjoyed their candles and had fun and were super thankful.
