Hot Italian w/ tots

Always a solid choice! Food is better than at most breweries and the beers are good too. Service is very reliable and the metal vibe is cool.

Adult grilled cheese

I got the adult grilled cheese and it would have been better i feel like without the cheese that was hardened on the outside of the bread or whatever it was. It made it hard to pull the sandwich apart. The service was ok i waited awhile to get my bill but other than that it was ok. I would maybe try it again if I was ever in the area but it wouldnt be my first stop.

Heavy metal vibes and ice cold beers. Needing a break from the afternoon shenanigans, we walked over to Stompbox Brewing after checking out the Skybridge for a quick drink. We didn't exactly plan to visit it this early into the day but since it was right there, we figured it was the perfect time to check it out so we didn't have to backtrack. Upon walking in, I knew I was in my place. I am a big fan of hard rock and heavy metal and this place oozed with tributes and references to many metal bands and songs. But, it doesn't beat you over the head with it too much and has a restaurant/bar vibe going as well. Emily and I took a table and ordered some drinks while we took this place in. We didn't have late lunch plans but knew we wanted to keep exploring before eating and settling in for the day, so we stuck with just beer here. The food menu did look pretty good and the hot pretzel bites did sound like the perfect accompaniment to our beer but maybe next time. I grabbed the Hefe Metal and Emily got a flight of beers. Her choices were: Devils Made Me Brew It, Flood Insurance, When the Levee Breaks, and Peach Fuzz. I really enjoyed my Hefe Metal and grabbed a can of it to go. Emily really liked the When the Levee Breaks but, in general, liked all her beers but the Devils. When we first took a sip, it was really good but at the halfway point, the beer started to smell and taste like a dirty gym locker room. She let me have the honors of putting the rest of it down. While we were relaxing and having our beers, we saw they had stickers and some sweet shirt designs. The stickers were only $1, so we grabbed two of each. There was a shirt design we both really liked but only mine was in stock. Emily was okay with that since one of the stickers had the design on it, too. Shirts were $25 a piece. Since we were only here for a quick stop, I'll keep this short. The beer for the most part was delicious. The people working were super friendly and the vibe of the place was killer. Between here, Wake Brewing, and Raccoon Motel, I'm starting to think the Quad Cities has a pretty solid heave metal scene... which is pretty frickin' a in my book. I'd highly suggest Stompbox Brewing if you need a place to grab a beer and do some light headbanging.

Loaded nachos with added chicken and an Order of truffle fries.. cases tithe a witch buutner dark stout, coffee stout next.

First off - cute little spot, great atmosphere, good vibe & cold brews. Hate to be the great big bear of bad news though - it was evening & we extended the grace with our server but we had to put in our food / drink order 3 times. And then we watched our food sit in the kitchen window for quite a few minutes. Will definitely give this place another go - however the service & delivery were just not up to par on this particular evening.

Amazing appetizer... the Elote Dip! I'm not sure I could order anything else! Great sour beer and came in multiple sizes! Friendly staff!

Cheese box and nachos

Stopped in for beer and apps. Both were incredible. Cheese box without a doubt the best fried mozzarella I've had. Fresh cheese, light breading great sauce (basically broncoberry sauce from arbys) Nachos were maaaassive, thick chips that stood up to all the toppings never got soggy. Beer, really strong super good, some of the best hazy ipas around. My only fear about this place is when the river floods cause would hate to see this business destroyed.

Chicken bacon ranch pizza--delicious!

Everyone at my table ordered one of the speclity beers I chose the blueberry one. The serving was huge. I didn't think I'd be able to drink it all -but it went down so smooth I did. We started out our meal with the pretzel appetizer. Delicious, just the way I like them, a thin coating of butter and not too much salt and a few dips to choose from. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich, for my entree, it was huge! I didn't think I could eat it all - but I did. The sandwich came with a side of tots. There were millions of them it seemed (I was not able to eat all of those). It was a great place to meet friends for dinner on a cold and rainy night.

We made the 10 minute drive to downtown Davenport and found the place with easy parking right across the street. This a neat spot near the Mississippi River and in an old brick building. The restaurant was rustic industrial and very clean and pleasing. We were greeted and took a seat near the window where we could view the river area. Our server was quite attentive. I ordered the smoked Gouda burger and cheese curds and my wife ordered the chicken strip basket. Our food arrived in a quick manner. The burger was awesome. The Gouda cheese was creamy and the burger and grilled onions were hot and fresh. The cheese curds were hot and fresh and came with a side of house made ranch dressing. My wife enjoyed the chicken strips that appeared hand breaded and she really liked the hush puppies (yes, we time time for the hush puppies). This was a pleasant change from the other meals we had on this trip. If your are in the area, give it a try. The photo of my meal almost didn't happen because I was enjoying it so much.

Heavy metal riffage in a ice cold glass…read more To round out a day of exploring the Quad Cities, Emily and I dropped into Wake Brewing to have a beer and a few rounds of Uno and a few other card games to relax before the drive. I didn't look into the place before we stopped here so I assumed it was either surfer-themed or was attached to a coffeehouse. Little did we know it was a heavy metal/groove metal nanobrewery. I thrive on heavy metal so perfect for me, not so much for Emily. There were about 10 beers on tap to pick from so I got the Midlife Crisis (fitting as I near 40) and Emily got the Green Mind. The place was filled with what felt like the regulars so we took a spot over in a corner to drink one last beer before the road and play some card games in my 'pub kit' as seen in the cover photo above. My pub kit is a simple plastic container I got from Walmart that is full of quick and easy games to play at breweries, coffeehouses, or wherever you are. It just happens to be plastered in stickers from my travels. Anywho, back to the topic at hand. I really liked Wake Brewing. I have been into IPAs lately and tried a West Coast one for the first time. It was tasty but since I've been drinking hazy or tropical ones, it didn't quite hit like I am used to but that's on me and not the beer itself. Emily really liked her gose beer. I was eyeing the other IPAs on the menu but with a 2 hour drive back, I didn't want to delay us getting home before too late. While we sat there, some really nice groove metal was playing. It reminded me of Tool but less technical and more foot tapping. Shazam said it was King Buffalo and I'll have to check them out once life settles down a bit. If the heavy metal scene scares you, don't be intimidated. Most metal heads are big nerds and are some of the chillest people around. We didn't stick around too long but I wish we had. I loved the entire vibe of this place and would've liked to try some of their other beers. They do have some merch for sell, so you know Emily and I got all their stickers for this trip. If luck finds us back here again, I will def get a shirt. Anything to support heavy metal (and beer). As a side note, do know that trying to park here had me miss the parking lot's few entrances quite a few times. So, if it's your first time, be vigilant of the weird layout and multiple entrances. Rock on!

It's clean including the bathrooms. And the service was friendly and got me in and out without issue. They have several beers on tap. My first choice was an ipa but they were out off all of their IPA's on the day I went. I ordered a pineapple upside down cake sour that was gluten free instead. And I wasn't disappointed. It wasn't really sour but had a nice sweetness and it really tasted like pineapple upside down cake. I definitely recommend trying it. For lunch I went with The Candied Chick-ciabatta bun, grilled chicken, candied bacon, tomato, smoked Gouda, and ranch. They have several side options that don't have an up charge so I went with the chips and queso. The sandwich was delish and exactly what I was looking for. The chicken was actually grilled and you could tell that they actually cook the food and use real ingredients and food. The bacon was delicious and I loved the combo. I equally loved the chips and queso. The chips are also handmade. I saw someone with nacho and these chips would be killer in them because they definitely wouldn't be getting soggy. Highly recommend this sandwich and side. I loved this spot and I'm so happy that I stopped. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop in.

When my sandwich arrived, the performer commented over the microphone that I'd gotten a "whole ass burger too, wow." Having my food order singled out in front of the restaurant was humiliating. It felt like being publicly shamed simply for ordering dinner. I appreciate that my server immediately spoke up and called him out. Unfortunately, that couldn't undo the embarrassment. I paid my bill and left. I was looking forward to a relaxing meal after a long day. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. There are many options to choose from. I had the Bock and Cheese pasta, while my partner enjoyed the Millionaire Bacon Burger. Both dishes were phenomenal. The only minor issue was that the burger, ordered medium well, was served medium rare. No big deal. The restaurant was being decorated for the holiday season, which added a fun touch! The space is open and airy, ensuring you don't feel crowded, and it's very clean. The beautiful modern-industrial style is perfect for hosting events. Our waitress came over in good time and took a drink order which showed up in very good time. I also asked a menu question which she got the answer to right away. As another reviewer stated it is *cold* in there! I keep a sweater in my bag for this purpose but still, I was cold. 86 outside, 66 inside (at a guess of course). They may keep the air cold to cool down that hot open kitchen. Bring a jacket or sweater. Our food came out in good time. Portions were generous. Plenty of cheese on my burger. I can understand how another reviewer mentioned the food is salty. The burger is mixed w/a GC spice blend that does seem heavy on the salt. At first it was fine, but I couldn't finish my burger. After a while the taste just stuck in my throat and was too much. May want to pull back a bit on the amount of spice blend being added. The crinkle fries were really good. Nice and crispy. My dining comlanion got the buffalo chicken wrap. Plenty of meat, spicy sauce and veg in this wrap. Trouble is the wrap barely holds the filling in and as the sauce makes the wrap wet, it inevitably fell apart. It is very tasty though, and he happily ate it with a knife and fork. Maybe a bigger wrap is available? 'Cause that portion size is excellent. Staff do seem to congregate in the kitchen area with the expediter. As the dining room got busier, we naturally saw less of our waitress but she did check in a few times and was sure to keep the water glass full and offer drink refills. The ladies room really needs a visual make over and deep clean. It does have a bit of a swampy smell. A machine by the sink, that I believe is a dehumidifier, had a light on it blinking "empty". So the tank was full of water? If it had been running, that may have helped with the smell but I don't know. It wasn't offensive, just a humid bathroom smell. The beer is good, as one would hope from a brewery. They have a selection from Irish Red to pilsners. The menu says to ask about sours. The interior is comfortable, casual with a mix of booths and tables. A couple of the booth seats are in serious disrepair (torn/split material exposing the foam cushion) and need to be fixed. A bar with high top tables is on the other side of the hostess stand keeping the areas seperate. A glass wall seperates you from both the brewing tanks on one wall and the kitchen on another wall. Restrooms by kitchen. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Those entry doors (two sets) are *heavy!

Bent River has a couple locations, with the other one in Moline. Probably the choices are better at that, but this one is better for live music and events. It's about $7 a pint. Pretty good for local beers, so we got a few of these. Best of these last time here was the Q.C Haze, a hazy IPA. It's a strong ABV at 7.1%. There's also a pretty okay food selection. It's about $8 for shareable appetizers. The Chips And Salsa are good with anything to be honest. Great brewery that's also a restaurant where they also cook everything. It has many items as far as beer and food.
