inquired about a new mustang and spoke with Heather and sent her quotes from other dealer trade in offers and told her that I know what my car is worth and that I do not have to trade in as I have a great interest rate and do not lowball me on my trade in. I sent them pictures of my trade and sent them about 7 or 8 cars just like mine what they were selling for. They send me a quote, and I immediately told them hell no the trade in offer was way too low. I think the name on the quote was a Gary and he was like sir are you ready to take advantage of this deal with $9000 in rebates. I told him that you are out of your mind those rebates have absolutely nothing to do with my trade in and that you are trying to make up that difference by low balling my trade. I called to see about the cost of a second smart key. On the phone "about 350." On arrival, "279xx for the fob, 49xx for the key, 85 to program." - So - about 414 plus tax - Invoice - 278.98 for fob, 86.38 for key, then several other fees - Then "If you use a credit card, the credit card company will charge you another 3%" - Me - "you mean you will add on 3% to use the card" - them - "no, it's the credit card company" So - the key shop gave me an out the door quote of 400. My husband and I spoke with a salesman Cody all week long arranging the right price. We live in Charlotte and had to drive 3 hours to see the truck and drive it. He videos the truck and told me it was immaculate days before I could get there. He didn't disclose any discrepancies. We drive down 3 hours with our family to see it and drive it home on his word, that it was a great truck. We get there he's not there. Get the keys from another salesman and crank it up and start looking it over. The engine light and other warning lights stay on the dashboard cluster. The front grill is about to fall off the front. The truck was suppposed to be detailed, it was full of sand and mud. There was food in the back seat cup holders. There was water stains on the interior ceiling on each back corners, from a leaking seal around the cargo light assembly. There was rust on the seat frames indicating water damage. There was rust starting on the top of the truck. The carpet was completely torn up on the passenger's side. The rear light assembly was busted and the Nissan dealership is right down the road, easy fix, it was not a concern to Ford. We never even test drove it. Told them within 10 minutes we were not buying it. Took our family and got the hell out of there. Stay away from Stokes Hodges Ford, scammers! God only knows what else they were hiding and they're pricing was over retail and they wouldn't budge. Stay away! read more

Do not purchase a vehicle from here. I purchaced a truck in March of 2023. It was a 2017 ford f150 lariat fx4 fully loaded. With Eccoboost 50,000 miles. I knew nothing of this engine, but it had a sound when you first start the vehicle. I was told it was normal. I have had it serviced there for oil change as needed. Other than oil changes they have replaced the water pump, valve cover gaskets, valve covers, rear main seal. All this time never saying anything about the sound. Then a couple weeks ago they said that I needed a new cam setup becouse it was bad. We'll the sound has been there since I bought it and was told that it was OK to sound that way. As they were fixing that they suggested spark plugs and fuel system cleaner. The man ADAM helping me was the only thing good, he himself was the BEST. Also they found the the seal on the rear axel at the yoke way bad and had to replace bearing in the rear axle. Also when I purchased the vehicle it was dirty after doing all the paper and wrote a check for the full price out the door. I asked them to clean it up. When I came back to get the vehicle, we found the the vehicle had been wrecked on the passenger side. It had a 1/2 in by 1/16th gash from the finder to the back fender. Someone had tried to fill it in with what looked like paint clay to hide it. There response was oh well. In my opinion this is the most dishonest place to purchase or service a vehicle.......... Well I'm back again. The team reached out to me as you can see by the response below. I tried to contact them and no one has returned my calls. Also I am back in for repairs, it looks to be wile ford changing my oil found that the oil pan might need replacing. The service people at the desk again ARE AMAZING. This has to.do with the quality of the lemon that i was sold the lack of contact from the dealer side. The absolute worst place to purchase a vehicle. My father bought a used vehicle from this location and within 3 months of purchase the vehicle started having issues. The repair shop claimed the issues were not something that was covered by the warranty. We sat with the "manager" to discuss the issues and from the start he was rude, unconcerned, and deceptive. This was clearly not the first time they had sold a car that had previous issues to someone. They have loop holes within their "warranty" policies and will sell used vehicles that have previous issues then claim the issues are not covered by the warranty, very scam like behavior. The sales people likewise will be deceptive to meet quotas. If you are looking to buy a used car, I would look elsewhere. read more

A comprehensive quote through TrueCar was provided with the dealership clearly represented on the quote. Staff at the dealership acknowledged the quote. After I agreed to the price in the quote (within the time window the quote was good for), I received a revised quote from a "sales manager" with a significantly higher price. I was not happy and brought my concerns to various parties at the dealership. The sales manager ended up blaming the "TrueCar system" and would not honor the original quote. Having worked in a customer service field for over 35 years it pains me to have to even give a one star on this review. But in order to get the review out there in hopes of saving someone else the anguish and disappointment then that is what we will do. My husband and I had been looking for a particular Ford Expedition for over a year, across many states. We were ecstatic to find the one we wanted at Stokes Hodges Ford in S. Carolina. While we were over a thousand miles away, we were able to and willing to travel to pick the vehicle up if we could come to terms with a payment. Our salesman was Jack (my apologies I do not have his last name) and was great at communication and quick to respond to any questions we had. We started the process on Friday February 2nd. It took us a little bit to work out the details for various reasons. For example, they were adding in several different charges such as (State Taxes, which is something that we were going to pay ourselves). The price went up almost $5k from the original advertised price. On Saturday after we all agreed on the purchase price then we explained to Jack that we would take the vehicle. Jack was busy with a customer but assured us that the vehicle was safe. At 4:45pm on the same day my husband reached out to Jack again via text to verify we were ready to finalize. On Monday morning Jack sent us the form needed to run our credit and told us he needed this in order to finalize everything. My husband quickly filled out the form and sent it right back letting Jack know that it was completed. At this time my husband also provided him with the card number to run for the deposit to hold the car until we could get to S Carolina the following week to pick it up since we lived several states away. The following morning, we received a call from James Ray, Senior Sales Associate who told us that the vehicle was being sold to someone else. He proceeded to tell my husband that we couldn't get the 2.9% ADVERTISED interest rate (even though our credit warrants it), he also told us that we could not get all of the rebates that was not only being offered but advertised on this "Courtesy Vehicle". We are certain that this vehicle ended up being sold to a "Friend" and possibly even sold for more than we had agreed to pay since at one point it was mentioned to us "that the owner is trying to sell it to someone he knows". While we understand that it may have been easier to sell the vehicle to someone local, we took every measure needed in order to show that we were serious about purchasing the vehicle which included putting down the cash deposit as well as allowing them to run our credit to show them that we were credit worthy of purchasing the vehicle. I think it is safe to say that our Family is a "Ford Family" since we are now on our fifth Ford. To say that the service and disrespect that we received from Stokes-Hodges Ford has been nothing shy of a major disappointment would be an understatement. We are sure in their minds since we are NOT local customers then they have not lost anything, I mean after all the vehicle was still sold. But to know that Ford allows this dealership to treat their customers like this is disappointing in itself. read more

My husband was in the market for a new-to-us truck. We loved our Ford F-350 Diesel, but it was time for something new. My husband spotted two trucks that interested him via an internet search and was contacted by Scott Baynham. Scott has to be one of the nicest and hard working salesmen I've ever met. And that's saying a lot...as the daughter of a retired auto-dealer, I've met a lot of good folks and Scott is right up there at the top. Why? 1. He was respectful and understanding of our budget. 2. He was kind enough to answer a lot of questions over the phone...and more in person. He never fudged an answer, either. If he didn't know the answer, he asked someone who did. He gave me time to go over the Carfax report with my husband and wasn't offended by our questions. 3. He was out there on the lot with us, even though it was pouring rain, as we looked things over and also gave my husband and I space and time to talk it over ourselves. 4. He, his manager (whose name I wish I knew!), and the finance manager all worked together to get us the appropriate financing and the best interest rate possible. Also, the finance manager, Darren, was extraordinarily helpful in getting our financing worked out to the best terms possible. He also helped us choose the protection plan I'd asked my husband to buy. The dealership itself was clean, the atmosphere was pleasant and there wasn't an employee who didn't offer a friendly greeting or didn't ask if we needed anything. Overall, our experience with this dealership was excellent and we will absolutely do business with them again in the near future. read more

READ BEFORE PURCHASING!!!!!!!!!!!! I recently sold my car to Stokes Hodges Ford, and it was a complete nightmare. Despite agreeing to pay me a certain amount for the car, the dealership has yet to actually follow through on their end of the deal. They keep claiming that the title is not in yet and that they can't pay me until it arrives. It's been weeks now, and every time I call to inquire about the status of my payment, I'm given the same runaround. They keep feeding me lines about how the title will be in "tomorrow" or "early next week," but those deadlines come and go without any actual progress being made. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. I should have received payment for my car by now, and the fact that the dealership keeps stalling is unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone against doing business with Stokes Hodges Ford, as they clearly cannot be trusted to follow through on their commitments. read more

I was in town for a horse show with my wife and daughter, and the AC died on us on the way down. I was there at 7:45, and after I explained my situation to Paul Wittke, Service Advisor, he got my truck in, diagnosed the problems (virtually entire system on my 2002 F250), and got it all fixed by 1pm. They also took me back to our Airbnb AND brought the truck to me when it was done! It wasn't cheap, but it was the fastest service I've ever gotten at a dealership. read more

I don't recommend this dealership because I consider their business practices to be unethical. Specifically, things like paint or upholstery protection, window tinting on windows darkened at the factory, nitrogen in the tires, are added to the price at signing and not shown or included in the website price. So, I showed up for my appointment to sign and drive the new truck home only to find that the price was $1600 higher because of all the extra junk that supposedly had been added - though I didn't want it - and couldn't be removed. I wish I could post minus stars. I needed to replace a lost key for my Ford vehicle. I was charged $100.00 to cut the key and program the new remote fob. Also $15.00 for a shop fee. I guess that covers the rags and time they spent in the bathroom. The new remote fob was $97.00 and $50.00 for the key itself. The $100.00 to program the key is ridiculous. After I left Stokes Hodges, I had to make a stop. I usually lock the door with the button on the door handle. I locked it and went to do my business and when I came out, I used my old key to unlock the doors. The old key didn't work. Fortunately, I had the new fob in my pocket. So Back to Stokes Hodges. I told them my problem and a person came out, sat in my truck for, at the most 5 minutes and they reprogrammed my old key. $100.00 for the original programming and 5 minutes to reprogram my old key. This a total waste of my money. I have always had a Ford pickup for over 45 years. I need to go buy a Chevy and be done with these money hungry Ford dealers read more

Due to his timely manor I knew I made the right choice. I was not able to make the purchase right away yet for maybe a month Kevin would check in to just see how things we're going. I was told there was sirusxm on the Maverick I bought, not! when talking to them the next day and saying I just wanted my escape back they said they would sell it back to me for $12,000! I told them you only gave me $4000 and now you can only sell it to me with a profit of $8000! There was nothing wrong with my car except 127,000 miles. DO NOT TAKE YOUR OLD CAR THERE FOR A TRADE. I was a long time customer of the former Satcher Ford-23 vehicles in 22years. Under the S-H ownership I will NEVER buy a vehicle. Just inquiring about a possible new vehicle ended up in what felt like bullying by the sales staff and follow up phone calls and texts even when asked for it to stop. ladyed over a year!! Service has deteriorated until they can't even do right on oil changes. Twice the shield on the bottom of my vehicle has been left unfastened and I've had to go back. Both times I was told it was due to "bad design". I call BS!!! When oil changed elsewhere-no problems!!! i miss the quality of the previous ownership!!! Stokes-Hodges is a train wreck!!! read more

Do not provide your information to this company, they employ unethical bait & switch tactics that are illegal in some regions of the country (not sure about S. Carolina). *1st occurrence: I contacted them regarding a new Ford Ranger they advertised at a given price on Auto Trader, only to be advised the price was incorrect. Unfortunately, from that point forward I received daily emails/texts & calls. *2nd occurrence: Fast forward a few weeks, I get an email regarding a new 2022 F-150 they marked down to $49,950, but when I clicked on the link in the email it took me to their website with the same truck priced @ $55,685. When I called, I was advised the email price was incorrect - stating it was a 3rd party advertiser they were having issues with. Ok, that could be legitimate, although my suspicions were raised due to the previous issue with Auto Trader. *3rd occurrence: Fast forward a week, I get another email for the same F-150 stating the price @ $49,950. I call again & am advised the price is incorrect - same excuse. Except this time I look @ the email & see that it was sent from Stokes; rrichardson@stokesauto.com to be exact - not a third party. When I confront them, they had no legitimate excuse. And, as much as I would like to state who I was dealing with (2 individuals) @ the dealership, I don't necessarily blame them - this is clearly the auto dealership' standard practice they may need to abide by to work there. Too bad for them. I live out-of-state & was ready & willing to fly in to get a vehicle at a decent price, but shudder now @ what would have happened on my drive home in the middle of winter after purchasing a vehicle from an unethical dealer. They stole $500 from me. I live 4 hours away. I put a $500 deposit down on a used vehicle to hold while I got financing from a local bank. I was turned down by 3 banks. Mostly for credit issues. But, also because of the mileage on the car. Then, my air handler at the house had to be replaced and that drained my down payment money. Long story short, this all happened in the span of 48 hours and they refused to refund my deposit. The salesman (his name is TJ) will not return my texts, the sales manager (Tim) has not returned my 3 phone messages, and someone named Josh (who I was told was the owner) has also not returned my call. These folks might be great to buy a car from. But, they are terrible if your deal falls through. Stay away!! read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!!!! I recently bought a used truck from them on 6/21/21, and still have not received my truck as of (6/29/21). First thing is TJ took me on a test drive in the truck before it had been expected by the service department. I liked it so I bought it that day. Upon buying it we agreed that the rack and light bar would be installed. This was a Monday and he told me the service department said it would be ready by Wednesday so they could do an oil change and standard maintenance. I told TJ that's fine and went about day. So I called TJ on Wednesday and he was like Idk what the service department is doing, and told me to call back on Thursday. I called on Thursday and he said they were waiting for some parts to come in. I talked to a lady in the service department who explained everything that was wrong. The axle bearing was spilling grease and they were waiting for the part. I then called TJ and to him eBay they said and he told me the lady was an idiot and didn't know what she was talking about. I then reached out to the service manager who explained everything that was goin on. Basically the axle bearing, and the wiring for the external lights was shorting out which is a huge risk for fire. So TJ took me on a test drive in a truck that was unsafe so he could get a sale. Scotty told me that he didn't want to put me on the road in a truck that is a fire hazard (which I really appreciate) he then told me that he didn't know about installing the light bar and rack until Wednesday. I feel like the service department was thrown under the bus by TJ. Scotty told me he was sending my truck to N Augusta Customs to get rewired (they told me about the shorted out wire). So these people put me and others at risk for accidents or fire by driving that truck. This place is unprofessional and will tell you anything or make promises to get a sale. I've bought 4 cars from Ford and this is by far the worst car buying experience I've ever had. read more

It continues...I haven't owned this F-150 for a year yet. And again issues, Leaking timing chain cover...$2800 covered under power train warranty, so $500 deductible. Also, leaking turbo coolant lines....$1800 NOT cover under power train (my) warranty. The truck cost me $27k...out the door $31K. If I would have had to pay these $5k trans, $3k timing chain, and $2k for the coolant line. Buyer beware. Personally, I will go to other dealers in the area. PLEASE do not ever do business with these crooks!! I called about a truck we saw online. Told the lady on the phone we lived about 30 mins away. She promised to pull the keys and hold the truck until we got there. When we got there, the truck was pulled up front and we began to look at it. I then went inside to ask for the sale lady I spoke with. While I was inside, a different salesman took the truck keys off the desk and went and test drove it with another customer leaving us standing there. He was super rude about it and so was the "Rachel" inside. I then spoke with the General Manager, Josh Boykin, who claimed no one should've ever taken the keys off the desk from my sales person but all he could do was apologize. TERRIBLE business!!! He went to the sales manager (Darren). The sales manager came in and told me there was no need to look because they may sell the vehicle before I get my money. So thinking how lazy and rude I left. I got the money the next day and went to another dealer and bought a new truck. A few days later the salesman (TJ) called me and I told him they should've treated me better because I bought a new truck somewhere else. TJ then hung up on me. After months of car shopping and one too many encounters with shady salespeople, I have to say that Stoke Hodges Ford is hands down the finest vehicle purchasing experience I've ever had. Billy Nash was my salesman, and he was really attentive to our needs and quick to respond to any issues we had. Normally  I dread going to auto dealerships and spending hours there. Billy made things very simple, and my car was delivered the VERY NEXT DAY after I made a deposit. Customer service was PHENOMENAL from the receptionist to the finance managers. Even the delivery drivers were fantastic. In the future, I will undoubtedly purchase vehicles from them. Make sure to ask for Billy Nash if you buy from this dealership. Do not recommend. We had a terrible experience that we dealt with for over a month. We signed paperwork on a 2018 Expedition and was told more than 2 wks later we could not get the SUV due to being in NJ and for some reason pulled off the market with no explanation given . They did a Spot Buy!! Plus the paperwork we signed was thru Capital One and was really more than what the bank had completely approved. All a ploy to get the bank to just ok and proceed with loan once you have taken delivery. They attempted to put us into another cheaper SUV. Several thousand different price point. Our Salesman quit and I can understand why. They have poor communication. We went from person to person. So now we have no SUV and embarrassed because we thought we had secured the vehicle we wanted. Per our attorney we are filing a complaint with the SC Department Of Motor Vehicles which provides an investigation into their procedures. Do not buy from them!! read more

Over priced trucks and will waste your time. It took them over 20 minutes to get the truck, salesman did not know where it was. They were trying to sell an 04 Silverado that was beat up, full of dents, and had many issues and they wanted 12,000 for it. Had well over 200K on it with a seat that was more foam then fabric and a multi color dash board because the paint was falling off. Most dealers this size would not sell a vehicle in this condition because of detriment to their reputation it would have but don't worry because this place had two of them. So this is my first review on Google, but after today I felt obligated to share. Yesterday I found a great deal on a nicely appointed F250 for my business, and so after spending all day texting and emailing with the dealership we arrived at a deal. Darren asked to make it official at 4:45 PM, and I proceeded to give my credit card number for a $2,500 deposit. We would meet at 10:00 am today to finalize the deal. So I leave Spartanburg at 7:00 am and drive the 2.5 hours to the dealership (with my business partner I might add), and show up 30 minutes early. Upon arrival, I find my salesman, who shakes his head and informs me that they sold the truck at 8:00 PM the evening before. What the h@$%? How about a phone call? He then had the gall to ask whether he could show me some other vehicles...what a joke! I would never consider dealing with this place again. A man is only as good as his word, and in this case that word was even backed up with a deposit. 5 hours wasted, but a lifelong opinion was formed. Don't deal with these guys. read more
