This place tried to charge me 7 euro for the most boring of door stops. And they almost got away with it. I walked into this shop hoping to buy a nice tea cosy, the place is jammers with cool stuff. Things like chopping boards that fold up for easy scooping into a pot, and spatulas with a bump to keep the spatula head off the kitchen table and thus keeping the table clean. These are really good ideas, and you look at the prices and think that they're expensive, but maybe they're good value... Anyway, after a few hours of unsuccessful search, I pull a member of their staff away from her Facebook to ask where Tea Cosies can be found. They have a lot of tea cosies, it has to be said, I spent a good 20 minutes deciding between the cosy shaped like a hen or the bottom up design for €20 In the end, function over fashion, the bottom up design won (see photo). I then remembered I needed a doorstop for the house. I found a bucket'o'doorstops and picked one up, no excitement needed here! At the checkout my bill came to €27, which was €7 for the doorstop. I was like "ok, that's fair", compared to this €20 tea cosy, that seems like the going rate. But thankfully I managed to cop myself on to this absolute ripoff. They are actually trying to charge me €7 for a piece of plastic which does nowt but use friction to resist the door's gravity... So I just went to Dunnes and got one for €0.50 instead!. Anyway, this story only justifies a 2 star location, but they go down to a 1 star shop in my opinion because of their TERRIBLE hours. Stock closes at 5:30, and is closed all Sunday. Ooooh, how much fun is this shop? Stock ... stocks... the best and mot interesting things to make cooking, drinking and serving a little more fun and elegant. Our usual haunt is the basement level, where all the cool (and needful) bits and bobs for kitchen capers lurk. Here I've picked up silicone bakeware, whisks of all sizes, knife blocks and cheese domes... then promptly put them back down again because there's no way it would all fit in my little garret. on the next landing are beautiful decanters and wine glass sets, cutlery and crockery, then table cloths, napkin sets (and rings!), then more gorgeous gadgetry and table setting essentials for stylish serving. The costs can rage from ridiculous to gift-worthy, and while there are a few misses (cheap ice cube trays, wire cutlery baskets with unfiled bare ends) the shop itself is always a hit. read more

Stock is a really lovely and large shop that sells dishs, glasses and crystal, cookware, kitchen appliances and linens that are all really beautiful. This place is really nice because it sells lots of different styles of all of the above, from minimal modern champagne flutes to toast with at your loft-space opening to pretty ceramic dishes that belong in a country cozy kitchen. A wonderful place if you're looking for a gift for a domestic diva or newlyweds, or just feel that it's finally time you buckle down and spend some serious money on an espresson machine. read more

Stock is like a much better version of Ikea. The downside of Stock is while the quality may be twice that of Ikea's products, it's prices are about six times more expensive. I would definitely buy all my utensils, crockery and other bits here if I had won the lottery. But I haven't so I feel being disgusted at the 9€ price tag on an egg cup is perfectly justified. read more

My Browsing paradise ! A great shop full of interesting home wares and cooking equipment. It is actually a very large shop and is spread over four floors with lots of nooks and crannies. Yes it is definitely expensive but I find that it has a lot of stuff that I really can't get anywhere else and sometimes I am surprised and find somethings are cheaper then I expected. The top floor now has a great kids section with great puzzles and old fashioned tin toys. The basement is an Aladdin's cave for any cook - they literally have everything and now with "kitchen compliments" gone there are very few shops with this kind of range of stock. At Christmas this place really comes into its own and the top floor is like a Christmas wonderland. Again its not cheap and you wouldn't want to be furnishing your whole house from here but every year I go and buy myself some little Christmas treat. So if you have a half hour to spare in town this is an ideal spot for a little potter ! read more

Stock is great. The staff are always helpful and they will direct you to what you need quickly. The store may not have all the high end brands you want (for example I like Staub pots and Apilco porcelain) but they have budget-oriented brands that get the job done. If you need a quiche pan they have a quicke pan. If you need an 8cm ramekin, they have one. I much prefer this shop over the Kitchen Whisk, another cooking utensil store in town. The selection here is wider and the staff more pleasant. read more

I recently broke the glass bit of my French Press coffee maker and needed to replace it. Apparently this doesn't happen to too many people in Dublin because it was near impossible to find a place which sold replacement parts as well as a new French Press. Thankfully a friend told me about Stock! They have all kinds of kitchen appliances, utensils, baking trays and glass parts for french presses. Turns out they seem to charge extra for the privilege of being the only shop for this sort of thing. Conclusion: if you want something in particular for your kitchen, this is a good place to shop but for your basic kitchen utensils Dunnes Stores might be a better option. read more

Stock is looking very festive at the moment. This is really handy, since I know a few people who will really enjoy some of their quirkier kitchen bits and pieces as presents. There isn't a food or drink in existence that stock don't have a dedicated tool for. Some are great (a massive selection of Bodum gear), some are hilariously useless (onion goggles). The shop is a bit of a maze though, with a number of rooms crammed into an already tiny floorplan, so you might struggle to find what you're looking for. It's also a bit pricey, so if you're looking for bargains, you might do better shopping around. At the moment, it's a solid four-stars. I'll have to call back in the bleak post-Xmas, post-credit card bill period and see if I still feel that way! read more

This is one of those places where I have to go in with a list and I must never, ever deviate from this list lest my credit card (debit card, wallet) explode. I LOVE browsing in here but it's a dangerous activity. This shop is full of kitchen and small household items that you never even knew you wanted, or needed, before now. First off, it has to be said that if you're looking for standard kitchen items and you're not fussy about brand or mechanics, go across to Argos in St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. It's not nearly as much fun but it's almost always cheaper. Stock is a place to get super heat-resistant spatulas, gorgeous espresso cup sets, heavy duty, high quality pots and pans that will outlast you, fabulously shaped cookie cutters, and all manners of apparently time-and-space saving contraptions. Oh and Christmas decorations! Most people forget this place has more than one floor and the top one is taken up every Christmas season with one of the greatest (sometimes wackiest) selections of decorations in the city. This place is well worth a gander. And while you're there, please come find me and drag me out before I do too much damage. There's no denying that this place has a large range of what the title suggests, but the cramped surroundings put me off a little. And though I've never found the staff unhelpful when I've approached them, I can't honestly say I've found them helpful either, for instance, where they're not busy and it's clear that you are looking for something and you can't find it. Not pro-active, is how I'd describe the customer ethos. And although they go a wide range of great kitchen brands, the mark-up on prices is a little too south-side for my liking. Every year, I despair a little when it's my Dad's birthday. He's just one of those people with few interests that are easy to nurture with a gift costing no more than €25. The one thing I know is that he loves is zany and superfluous kitchen accessories like a mango slicer or a aubergine hammer. Weird, completely unnecessary cooking utensils that have one incredibly specific function made of chrome are what floats his boat. So, I always have a browse around Stock looking for the perfect Teflon-coated-broccoli-monogramming-space-laser. They have a spectacular range of kitchen accessories ranging from tasteful earthen-wares to match your aga, to zingy colourful cups and saucers to match your chic duplex. Not much comes cheap here unfortunately but everything seems very good quality, if not a little unnecessary. read more

So many great things packed into a very small space! Love the selection of cooking, baking, serving, storing, organizing things. The staff are friendly and helpful, couldn't find what I needed and they were happy to direct me to another store that might have it. They do close very early on weekdays which is a shame. Definitely expensive, it's very likely you can find most of their stuff much cheaper in another store or online, the main thing they have going for them is convenience. If you can't be bothered to run around to three different stores, or wait for an online order to ship, you could definitely walk away with everything you'd need from here to make, for example, a huge and elaborately decorated wedding cake. It is a good store for gifting inspiration, just browsing it'd be easy to find something for anyone: specialty wine accessories (aerators, decanters, specialty glasses...) tea sets etc. They have some more rare items like cast iron skillets, ceramic frying pans, ramekins in various shapes/sizes, enamel cookware, large selection of food coloring, every piece of bakeware in every size you could possibly need. This place is definitely a dream for anyone who likes to cook or bake, but if you're not pressed for time you can easily find everything here cheaper elsewhere (especially online). I'm with Gearoid on this one, this place is just too expensive. I buy something in Stock to find its cheaper in Brown Thomas and I mean 25% cheaper. And this has happened more than once. And they do have very inconvenient opening hours. However I did notice they were open on a Sunday recently. For Christmas maybe? Bottom line is the get one star for variety of stock. I am giving Stock Design Store four stars because of the amazing depth of their assortment and the quality of their products. The associates were nice but they didn't make much effort to assist anyone in the store (on any of the floors.) Stock mainly carries items for your kitchen, however, the top floors have children's toys, stationary, rugs, fabrics, furniture, lighting, and home decor. If you need something for your kitchen, this store will most likely have it. Great place to browse for something unique or hard to find. read more

I really love Stock. There are so few proper baking supply stores left in Dublin, but this is one if them. Now it is expensive, probably driven by the location. I went to Stock today to pick up some caking supplies. While it is cheaper to buy lots of this stuff online, its great to be able to get it immediately in a shop. I was in today looking for gel colours and cake boards, but of course I got distracted and ended up buying more than I intended to. They do a good selection in colours and in pre-coloured fondant icing which I haven't seen in other shops in Dublin. They have lots of the usual tins, and a few specialist shapes, unfortunately none of which helped me today - looks like I'm just going to have to construct my own dinosaur cake! read more

I like gadgets, actually, I love gadgets, my house is full of them, I can hook my TV up to my phone and listen to the result over the stereo, I have a tablet computer, just to read to junior at night... if it is flashy and shiny I want it. Stock, located on the corner of Stephen's Green and Clarendon Row, is the perfect place to buy all those fancy kitchen gadgets you've always wanted. They sell beautiful wooden bowls and spoons, Italian cappuccino makers, margarita and wine glasses, steel pots and pans and tons of other stuff. So, Yelp has a shopping subcategory for knitting, but not for kitchen or cooking? Hmmm...really? The reason I raise this issue is that STOCK is listed as a furniture store, whereas I wanted to add one of these more fitting culinary categories. STOCK stocks the city's best selection of fun and functional kitchen paraphernalia (and cooking is my addiction). - and Bobbles (coolest water bottles ever)! However, while admirably well-stocked for the home chef, they are mis- or over-stocked in other areas. The space is really not large enough to STOCK furniture and other large items for the home. And, since this this is mainly a pedestrian shopping area, who wants to cart large, bulky purchases? Since these things seem perpetually on sale here, I rest my case. If something can't be carried, it shouldn't be stocked - the exception might be kitchen appliances with an offer of free delivery prominently displayed. Speaking of which, a good cook knows good presentation counts for a lot, and more eye-catching signage is called for inside (currently nonexistent) and out (currently nondescript). If you're not familiar with STOCK, you might never venture to the end of King Street to see what's inside, thinking it has something to do with the FTSE or is just another clothing store. Take advantage of that great line of sight from Grafton! Offer outdoor cooking demos! Feature the celebrity chef who just came out with his/her line of cookware. See one, use one, buy one. A selection of carefully chosen ingredients and kitchen implements make for a good STOCK. Cooking/store experts (STOCKists) should be at the door and on the shop floor/s to offer expert advice and directions (the place is a bit of a maze). Entice customers up to the first and second floors (which are now ghost levels) with cooking classes and the like, showing off how to use all those cool gadgets. Similarly make use of the nice outdoor space to draw attention to the store location at the end of King Street. Follow this recipe for success - and don't dilute a good STOCK! read more

Stock accepted a return of a faulty coffee grinder under warranty, so that's good, but I would expect nothing less.

These guys have everything you could want for your kitchen. There are lots of other small rooms with rugs and furniture upstairs and It usually takes me an hour to get through the place. A great place to buy a gift for some one or for yourself. The service is good and the location is great. read more

Stock is a beautiful home shop. They have a great supply of brilliant kitchen stuff, furniture and they are also interior design specialists. It's pretty pricey but they have a wealth of great stuff and it's all famous names that will hopefully last you and your home forever. Personally I have to give this shop five stars for the stock it has however I wish I could say the same about the staff. Having previously spent a lot of money in the store, I called in one evening rather late just before closing. I do understand that people have homes to go to but I was rather taken back when a male member of staff approached my friend and I and practically grunted at us as he asked us to leave, he then proceeded to turn the lights out before we had even got downstairs which to me was rude and unprofessional on his part. As a result of his actions I refuse point blank to shop there again more to the pity. You would think that under the current economic climate that this shop would appreciate business and therefore look after their customers, not in this case!!! read more

This shop has nice things but the management do not value their customers. They refused to give me my money back on an item that had been mis-priced and for which I paid a lot more than I initially realised (in the interests of a fair review, the correct price was also on the item but I had missed it). They would only offer a credit note, despite the item being perfect, still with labels on and returned in a short timeframe. When I complained, the manager was dismissive, rude and made no apology for the fact that I had been inconvenienced or for their policies. She was clearly not bothered about losing a customer. They are unlikely to care about this negative review either but I suggest you take your money somewhere that needs it and appreciates it. read more
