I don't leave reviews often, but after our experience at STK Oakbrook, I had to make an exception. From the moment we sat down, Daniel made us feel like VIPs. He was incredibly professional, knew the menu like the back of his hand, and answered every question with complete confidence. My wife and I decided to trust all of his recommendations... and that turned out to be the best decision of the night. We chose the 3-course menu, starting with the Wagyu beef burger appetizer, jalapeño shrimp, and Caesar salad. Every bite was fantastic, but the entrées absolutely stole the show. Daniel recommended the 16 oz NY Strip for me while my wife ordered the Mushroom Pasta, and all I can say is... WOW. From the very first bite, we were blown away. The flavors were layered, rich, and perfectly balanced. Every bite seemed to reveal something new. It wasn't just a meal--it was an experience. Then came the drinks. Since Daniel hadn't missed yet, I asked him to surprise me. He recommended the Mango Margarita, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best alcoholic drink I've ever had. I was actually pretty disappointed in STK. I thought this would match the sensibly high-end restaurants that surround the Oak Brook area, but this is a place to go when you literally do not care about the actual worth of your meal. We came for happy hour and expected to stay for dinner, but after looking at the menu we decided to head elsewhere. First, the happy hour menu was extremely different than what is posted online. It was essentially wings, tater tots, potstickers, fried rice and a burger. Online there are elevated items listed. Such as short rib quesadilla, crab and corn fritters, oysters, wagyu tacos, and more. Our expectations immediately fell upon seeing that. So we glance at the dinner menu....and to preface I'm not a "cheap" person, I am entirely happy paying for something of value, but the prices don't match here. Salmon for $59? Number one, you're not in the heart of Chicago. Two, I can go across the street to Ditka's for a $29 salmon. This was everything on the menu, bumped up $20-$25 more than they should be. There are way too many other places around this area, specifically for absolutely delicious quality food that the prices here are nearly appalling. Take Perry's $24 porkchop special that's the size of your head. Just because you have a name and a location does not mean you should price gouge. I will be very surprised if this location stays open long term. The only way I see them hanging on is because of the happy hour menu, but even that needs an upgrade. The only reason I would ever return would be for the $9 martinis during happy hour. Which are normally priced at $23 - about $5 more than their competition across the street. read more

The evening was plagued by service failures from the beginning. Food was delivered to the table before guests were even provided plates to eat from. Drink service was consistently delayed, orders were forgotten, and some beverages never arrived at all. To make matters worse, we were charged multiple times for the same drinks, requiring us to carefully review the bill for inaccuracies. The food quality was equally disappointing. One steak was significantly overcooked, and a chicken dish was visibly undercooked. When this was brought to our server's attention, we were told that the raw appearance was simply the marinade. This response felt dismissive and inappropriate, particularly given the obvious food safety concerns. Rather than acknowledging the issue and resolving it, the concern was effectively minimized. Perhaps most concerning was the handling of a clear communication failure regarding my event contract. I was charged based on a minimum of 20 guests despite possessing written confirmation indicating that my contracted guest count was 18. Because I relied on that confirmation, I reduced my headcount and informed family members that I did not have sufficient space to accommodate them. When I presented the confirmation text message documenting the agreed-upon guest count, I expected a conversation focused on finding a reasonable resolution. Instead, the manager's response was curt, lacking empathy, and entirely devoid of ownership. I was simply told that nothing could be done. No effort was made to understand the situation, acknowledge the error, or provide any meaningful customer recovery. What makes this experience particularly frustrating is that this was not an inexpensive evening. The final bill exceeded $3,000. At that price point, guests should reasonably expect attentive service, accurate billing, quality food, and professional management support when issues arise. Unfortunately, my party experienced none of those things. While the operational issues throughout the evening were disappointing, the most memorable part of the experience was the complete lack of accountability when legitimate concerns were raised. You get a starter, a main, a side and a dessert to share between 2 people AND you can add two drinks for $20; they have 3 drinks or 3 wines you can choose from for this special. Happy Hour Review! I recently visited STK Oak Brook that took over the old Michael Jordan Steakhouse with a decent size group for happy hour. I didn't make a reservation ahead of time which was no problem for them to accommodate. The hostess did still require me to provide my first and last name as well as my phone number for us to be seated. The inside had a nice aesthetic that met the steakhouse/club vibes. Music was a little loud for how empty the restaurant was but the music they played was good. Their happy hour menu offers smaller portions of classic menu dishes for $3/$6/$9. They also have $9 wine specials and all cocktails on menu for $9. The drink catch was that liquors were switched to lower quality from top shelf level. Overall the drinks and food on special did have a good variety to accommodate anyone's preference or allergy needs. For food, we got a variety of options. The group's favorites were the Crab & Corn Fritters, Crispy Calamari, Oysters, Waygu Meatballs. The best value was getting the STK Cheeseburger. The only dishes I wouldn't recommend were the tacos. For $9, the portions were extremely small which made it difficult to truly enjoy the ingredients. For drinks, our group's favorites were the Cucumber Stiletto and Dirty Pearls. We tried a number of other drinks that weren't terrible but nothing special. I would not recommend the Not Your Daddy's Old Fashioned as it tasted more like simple syrup than bourbon. Drinks had a nice presentation. As is, this was an okay experience. Beyond food and drinks, service can certainly improve. There were large gaps when our server wasn't checking in on us yet bussers were immediate to refill water and take empty plates/glasses away. It felt like we were constantly being interrupted by the wrong people. Portions are certainly small so go in knowing you need to order quite a few. Additionally, we ordered our second round of drinks which were clearly forgotten about. We waited 20 minutes as we ate before reminding our waiter. He quickly got them made but rather than comping, the manager came over to nicely explain she made sure to give us happy hour pricing.... Even though we originally ordered before happy hour ended. Very odd. At the end of our dining experience, our bill was handled off of an ipad card swipe which unelevates the experience. Our waiter gave us the member program sales pitch while also pushing to leave a good google review. While he was energetic, he came across very scripted and inauthentic. Lastly, the restrooms are located in the common area hallway rather than in the restaurant. I think STK has a great opportunity to thrive in the Oak Brook area but has some kinks to work out before they'll thrive. Tip: They offer valet but self parking is behind the restaurant. Came here for dinner and the vibe was so fun right when we walked in. It feels more like a lounge than a typical steakhouse music, energy, and just a really good date night atmosphere. We got steak and a few sides to share and everything was cooked perfectly. Super flavorful and tender. The truffle fries were addicting and disappeared fast. If a restaurant is going to charge $64 for a 6oz filet, $119 for a ribeye, and $168 for a tomahawk, the experience needs to be absolute perfection. At STK Oak Brook, it was an awful amateur hour. The bad impression started the second we walked in. There was one specific hostess at the reception desk who could not have cared less to be there and was so remarkably rude it felt like she didn't even want us in the building. Seriously, get her out of there. To make matters worse, almost nobody on the staff looked happy to be working, giving the whole place a miserable energy. On top of it all, they had a DJ blasting music all night. Maybe spend less time trying to act like a nightclub and more time on basic hospitality. The service itself was a total operational nightmare. We had a 6:45 PM reservation, but we weren't even seated until 7:15 PM. Once we finally got to a table, it took another 15 minutes for a waiter to even greet us, and another 15 minutes after taking our order just for drinks to show up. Then, the food took forever to arrive. When it finally did, it was just fine, completely unexceptional. Waiting an hour past your reservation just to get a cocktail and then waiting an eternity for average food is completely unacceptable. Huge kudos to Trevor, the manager. He was awesome and incredibly apologetic. He really, really tried his best to make things right by comping our drinks and appetizers and doing everything in his power to turn the night around. I genuinely appreciate how hard he tried. But even a manager working that hard can't fix a hostile front desk, sluggish service, and an unwelcoming vibe. Mixed feelings about STK Oakbrook. On Sundays they offer their brunch menu. Lucky they let us order off their normal menu. We tried the ahi tuna and the lil burgers. They were ok. I ordered a Bloody Mary which arrived after I was done eating. The description includes a rim which the drink did not have - I mentioned this to our server he could have cared less. (The rim is the best part next to the blue cheese stuffed olive) It's very loud and wasn't busy at all. Service was good - waiter recommendations were the most expensive items on the menu. Sadly - I will not be back. The check in desk is amazing friendly and full of energy. I will note for those who enjoy brunch - their servings are ample and the food looked very good. read more

I had high expectations for STK Steakhouse Oakbrook, especially after planning a much-needed date night with my husband and booking a 7 PM reservation two weeks in advance. Unfortunately, the evening quickly unraveled before we even made it past the hostess stand. We arrived a few minutes early, only to be told--rather casually--that they "didn't have our reservation." Interesting, considering I had a confirmation in the app and not one, but three text messages verifying it. After presenting proof, we were met with, "Well, since you don't have a reservation, we'll do our best to squeeze you in." I'm sorry--since you don't have our reservation? The burden of your system failure somehow became ours. We were directed to the bar with the promise of a 10-15 minute wait. Twenty minutes later, after watching multiple parties get seated ahead of us, I checked back in--only to be told, once again, "10-15 minutes." Nearly 40 minutes after arrival, we were finally seated. At that point, expectations were already tempered, but we hoped the food would redeem the experience. It did not. After another 45-minute wait, our meal arrived: two filets, Brussels sprouts, and gratin potatoes. The sides were, without question, the highlight--which is not exactly a compliment when the centerpiece of the meal includes an A5 Wagyu filet priced at $52 per ounce. At that price, "underwhelming" should not even be in the vocabulary. My own filet was simply... fine. Certainly not worth the $91 price tag. Our server was pleasant enough, though clearly stretched thin. But that's part of the broader issue--this felt like a restaurant more interested in turning tables than curating an experience. If you're going to command a $500 dinner, the service, timing, and execution should reflect that. Instead, the night felt rushed, disorganized, and ultimately disappointing. We recently dined at STK Steakhouse to celebrate my brother's birthday -- an intimate party of four -- and unfortunately left feeling completely disappointed. For starters, our server repeatedly referred to members of our party as "chief" and "bro." We're all grown adults, and that kind of overly casual language felt unprofessional and disrespectful in what's supposed to be a high-end restaurant. The food itself was subpar, especially considering the price point. The restaurant wasn't even busy, yet our server made us feel rushed throughout the meal, even handing us a Post-it note asking for a review before we had finished dining. To make matters worse, one of our guests was subtly told they had "had enough" after their first cocktail, which was both inappropriate and unnecessary. If you're going to ask whether guests are celebrating a special occasion, you should make some effort to acknowledge it. Having the staff sing "Happy Birthday" seemed like a major inconvenience for them as they did no such thing for our table like they had the table across from us.
