May 30, 2026 Folk Art Abounds at Stitchin' Heaven. I blame my Wife for this encounter. She is the cause of all this awestruckness visited upon me that fateful final May Saturday. It was a three and a half hour drive for us to get there from our house near The Woodlands. The Greater Piney Woods of East Central Texas between Huntsville and Tyler were a sight to behold and to this day, make me happy to be a Native Texan. Small towns, like Quitman, hide gems within their city limits. Stitchin' Heaven is one such place. Hitting the parking lot, you realize tuis is much more than a quilt shop. It is a quilters destination, a cloth clubhouse for anyone wanting to stitch up folk art. They have classes and retreats for those that desire to learn this ancient art of making bed coverings. We spent about an hour inside ... the Wife browsing, I, just gawking at the displays of true hand made beauty. Fantasy Quilts, Traditional ones, special themed ones all were draped along the walls to stare at and wonder. Wonder how someone could dedicate so much time and effort to achieve this work of love and art. I came out of there with a new appreciation of what thread, needles and a good set of shears can do to a bolt of cloth. If you are ever up there, stop by and just see the hanging quilts. The quilt show is HUGE! The prices are in line with other quilt shop and the ladies who work there are so nice! We very much enjoyed spending out morning there. Not that we had any guys with us, but they even have a "Man Cave" with comfy chairs and a TV to keep hubbies occupied. read more

Road trip up to here from Central Texas, the Hop Queen found this place online, so we made a weekend trip to check it out. She was ecstatic, along with my credit card company. It really is a one stop shop for all things quilting. Excellent organization and high quality merchandise throughout. Everything for every skill level, new beginners or seasoned quilters. Staff is very friendly and helpful, but don't hover over shoppers, giving you space to explore. They also do mail order, but the store is so nice, we'll have to add it to our "road trip" schedule! read more

This quilt shop is a top notch stop. If you're a quilter and within a couple hundred miles, it's worth the extra drive. You can spend hours just looking at what they offer and then more if you are trying to build a quilt or searching for something more specific. They also have a retreat center as well as additional housing (cabins). I was lucky enough to join a Retreat for my visit and had the time of my life! Quilting with other quilters and seeing all the different projects and designs (it was a Bring your own UFOs or projects) was so fulfilling. Retreats include housing in the smaller rooms inside the Center or in the cabins across the path as well as meals and access to a beautiful shop across the parking lot. Amazing customer Service and Selection! Me and a friend are taking a cruise through Stichin Heaven and took a road trip to see the fabrics. Rosa gave us a very in-depth impressive tour of the facility. We could have booked a room on site, wish we knew before we booked another room. Next time! So many people helped us during our visit! So impressed by how friendly everyone was. Helping us find projects and assisting us in finding a quilt pattern and locating the fabrics. It is very apparent they love what they do. My friend bought her material separately since she wanted another color and they will be custom cutting her fabric using their laser cutting machines. She is so very thankful and happy they agreed to help her and do this! Dennis showed us all the options for blocks of the month and how the laser cutter worked! Very impressive. He was so friendly too. We will definitely be back. read more

Visiting from Northern CA. Drove a little while from Frisco Texas particularly to visit this quilt shop. Great selection of fabrics, quilt kits, and notions. Customer service was okay, staff were not rude, but not exactly friendly either. Great resource for sewers/quilters in East Texas. read more
