I can't believe I have yet to give props to my alterations man, Howard!!! He is the best there is. When I first moved to Toronto, I took many chances on several different places for alterations--everything from jeans to dresses and a couple of things in between and I have to say that Stitch Master is where it's at. Prices are amazing for what you get: turn-around time is excellent (sometimes he gets the job done before the appointed pick-up day, and this, during his busy season!), and the quality is top-notch and professional. I've gone to places downtown but found them way overpriced, quality very meh and their hours weren't all that convenient--for the same job that Howard can do in less time with fewer hassles AND lower prices. He is located along Dufferin (near Yorkdale Mall) in a plaza with Seoul House Restaurant, Fabricland, Marche Istanbul (stop in for baklava if you're there, they get their delivery on Thursdays and they're right next door), a florist, and a couple of other businesses you may find useful. I can't recall if he does custom clothing but I know that he was a tailor back in his native Hong Kong. He's super-sweet too; I've had some 911 situations and he's always come through. I feel bad that sometimes I'm so forgetful and run to him last-minute but he's really good like that. Don't be pushy with him though, if he says no, just let it go, especially in the summer or near the holidays as those are his busiest times. It's only him and another woman that do all the work. He's done some pretty amazing things with clothes I bought because I loved them but they were either to big for me or not snug in the right places (dresses, skirts, even tops!), and he made them fit PERFECTLY. He's also worked on some of my leather jackets as I can never find the perfect one--I've had him remove little details that I want to have disappear--and not a single stitch out of place or hole left in the leather. My jackets come out looking like they were made that way! He can do some crazy things with jeans too--a friend of mine who referred me to him in the first place goes there so he can work his magic on every single pair of hers and just when I thought she couldn't have a nicer ass, hers looks like God made it himself in her modified jeans!! I've been to places that have messed a few things up but this never happens with Howard. If I have items that I want but something isn't right, I don't risk taking it to some place based on price or convenience as I'm terrified of what I'll get back but I never have to deal with that kind of stress with Howard. If he can't do the job, he will tell you on the spot and that's only happened once. If ever you're out shopping and unsure of an item due to fit, buy it (check the store's return policy first!) and bring it in and if Howard can't do it, you can always return the item. I came here based on CalamityJane's over-the-top (and long review). She's right. Howard's great. He's a former tailor who used do custom Bespoke suits. So you know the man's got real talent and has chosen to do alternations here in Canada. He's not just some amateur. I got two Jackets tucked in here since I've lost a lot of weight. Very reasonable cost, great conversation with Howard as he offered suggestions and indicated what fit should be like. He doesn't shy from giving his opinion and will suggest things... especially if you don't know what you're talking about. Great stuff! I'll definitely come here again. read more

Howard and Anne Marie have done some amazing work for me in the past but I've found the last couple of years that the service and quality isn't really there. He's missed the due date of alterations (a due date that he suggested!) and has turned down some alterations because they were too "hard" (such as pants with a side zipper"). I've also found the shop to be increasingly messy with dust bunnies reaching epidemic proportions...I worry that some of that dusty schmutz will end up on my clothes. I miss the days when Anne Marie did most of my alterations. read more
