Believe the hype! Don't waste your time with fish & chips anywhere else - this is the only stop in…read morethe Valley if you're looking for the best fish & chips. Right on Main St in canning where parking is limited out front but many nearby lots for free. The space is not accessible sadly, as there are a few spots to get in. Watch out for the suicide door! Not sure what's going on here, but the hinges need to be readjusted because the door flies open when you turn the knob (also not great for accessibility vs. a handle - and requires Superman to close). So be warned! Minor details aside - the menu is small but priced well for the freshest fish and best local ingredients. The food was clean, not greasy and very tasty. This place is great for take out but also for sitting in if it's not packed. It's really small and quaint with only a few tables so if you're coming in tourist season - call ahead or be prepared for take out only! In addition - this is the new home/bottling location for Pay Day cider where you can purchase on tap, in bottles or refill your own. We only had the Dry cider and while it was nice, it was a little on the sweeter and carbonated side. There are multiple flavours to choose from. We've tried all the spots in the Valley and this is many points above the rest! We watched as people came and went for take out the entire hour we were there. It was telling to see many seniors coming in to pick up family-sized meals.

The ambiance is very comfortable, you can seat yourself at any open space you'd like. Their food is good, their burgers are really good, I quite enjoy their fried chicken sandwich. Their fish and chips are also really good, with big pieces of fish and crispy fries. The nachos are really good, made the mistake of ordering the "regular" size and it was too big for just 2 of us, but it was for sure tasty with fresh ingredients. We also like their deep fried pepperoni with the mustard dipping sauce it comes with. Another part I really enjoy with this place is their homebrewed beers. I personally really enjoy the blueberry beer they have (I believe during the summertime) and the raven ale. You can get a growler of their beers to take home and enjoy and it is very affordable, I believe $15 for a growler of the raven ale. Parking is street parking, but if the streets are full, which it rarely is, there is the town parking lot not too far from this place. Oh, and I should add, this place also has a pretty decent arcade/games room upstairs and a banquet hall to be rent or host events like a comedy show. Service is great, the servers are very pleasant and the food comes out quick and hot.

Once we got to the front through, we saw it was a seat yourself and had a laugh. Decor was standard pub fare- our table was clean. Onto the food: we had chosen this restaurant as it had potato skins on the menu and we hadn't had those in a while! Unfortunately they were sold out. We got the mozzarella sticks instead and they were just fine. A lot of the cheese had disintegrated so the sticks were empty, but that's alright. For our entrees we both got the 2 lb steamed mussels. Lots of mussels for 20$ each which was a pretty good deal! Wish it had some with more garlic bread though. We had gotten a strawberry shake to share and it was not good. Was more of a strawberry smoothie? very icy and didn't feel creamy at all.

We buy beautiful vegetables, have fish and chips at the little stand and then leisurely walk through the park with ice-cream. We changed it up this weekend. We played Farmer's Golf- and we're so glad we did. We always wondered what it was. We saw the sign for Farmer's Golf a million times before stopping to find out what it was. A quick google search brought up a very interesting type of golf. We had to try. We paid ten dollars each at the market and then walked up to the golf course AKA Farmer's field and orchard. We met up with the owner at the clubhouse and she gave us a score card, a mini soccer ball and a club which consisted of a shaft with a wooden clog at the end. Amazing. She taught us how to hit the ball and we went on our way. This game is hilarious. There are ten holes through orchards, fields and more. The hole is a sunken flowerpot in the ground. There is technique to this game- which we finally discovered a few holes in. We giggled the entire time- it was just awesome. So Hennigar's appears to have done it again. An amazing market, great take out shack, adorable park with animals and now golf. What's next? I can't wait!

Super enjoyed both the store and the property. There is something for everyone here. Sorry, I don't like soggy greasy chips. My husband was not a fan of the greasy fish and soggy greasy chips. We will not be going back.

I've had the fish here a couple years ago and thought it was ok. I recently went again and ordered…read morethe large fish & chips and scallops on the side. While waiting for the order a lady who also was ordering scallops commented on how very large they were. It took about 15-20 minutes for my order. The fish was very large, extending past both sides of the "dish" as it sat on top of the fries. The scallops were in a bag inside a bag handed to me separately. It was all dripping of oil. I had to set it on my passenger seat and go back for napkins. I was given 6-8 small napkins. Along with the napkins I had in my car they were soaked through in minutes along with my pants, passenger seat and eventually the steering wheel as the napkins were simply insufficient at the attempt t soak up the oil. As for the food. The 5 scallops for $15 made me feel very ripped off even before I discovered the huge amount of breading that held the fat/oil was hiding very small scallops contrary to the comments of the earlier mentioned lady. The fish itself was good other than the oil that Ozzie's out when you picked up a piece. I ate a few scallops and 1/2 of the fish and one of the soggy fries before I ran out of napkins and was revolted by the amount of oil and threw it in the garbage. When I got home, my shirt and pants went in the laundry and I had to wash the seats, center console and the steering wheel of my car. I'm not planning a return anytime soon.
