Super affordable diner breakfast. Super tasty cakes and desserts!

Conveniently located near the hospital and where I'm staying is this rural diner. Mom and Pop feels. Real diner feels. Nothing fancy about this place, but the food is really good. Been here a few times already, for breakfast mostly. Early Bird Special including 2 eggs, your choice of protein (bacon, sausage, bologna), hash browns or home fries, with toast. Good hearty breakfast. I've also had their clam strips and fries and that was really good. I could barely finish the clam strips and the fries because there was so many. Fries was perfectly fried, crispy. The clam strips werent gritty, perfectly battered and fried to perfection. And to go with their diner food, how bout some super good home made pies and cakes. And they are all very affordable. This place, looks like it doesnt get alot of traction, but they do attract a lot of traffic and I understand why now. *ALERT* DONT BE DISMAYED BY NEGATIVE REVIEW

This is the blister from a sausage that came out of a deep fryer and served when it was hotter than ever expected

My partner and I drove down from New Glasgow for our anniversary. We were excited to go to this…read morerestaurant because the reviews were quite high. When we arrived, there were a few people there but it wasn't packed. The first thing we noticed was that a lot of tables weren't clean .. I would understand this if it were busy, but it wasn't. The waiter greeted us, took our drink order, mentioned we would have to wait because she was a bit backed up on drinks. She didn't bring us cutlery or napkins, but she took our appetizer order. Another waitress eventually brought us water and our appetizer came out . She seemed embarrassed that the other girl didn't bring us anything to eat with, so she brought us cutlery and napkins. We ordered the mussels and they were for the price very subpar... the " sauce they were in was extremely lacking at-least 5 were completely closed and there were flies all around our table out on the patio constantly. We waited almost 30 minutes for our two drinks. When we finally got them our appetizer was finished and our original waitress brought them and said they were on the restaurant. One of the two drinks were disgusting and I wasn't able to drink it. It was the flora . Our main meal was delicious I ordered the scallops with pork belly which was fantastic though for the price I expected a few more scallops( there were only 4 on the plate). My partner ordered the steak frites and though it was also delicious there was a huge amount of fat on the steak. Personally we rather it have just been taken off the plate instead of left on there because it wasn't very appetizing looking. About a quarter of the steak was all fat. All in all our experience was okay but definitely was not what we expected. I would rate it a 6.5 out of 10..

Y'all ain't even ready to hear what I had for breakfast this morning: an eggs benny sandwich with…read moreHollandaise dipping sauce and a shredded potato pancake. YEAH. I said it. It's your standard Eggs Benny sandwiched between two thick slices of homemade bread (your choice of white, whole wheat or multigrain - no less!) and a bowl of some of the tastiest Hollandaise I've found in the past few months. All tucked away in an unassuming, down-home diner in Port Williams - a quick drive from downtown Wolfville! More people need to know about this! Four tables covered in business cards of diners-gone-by are set up in a space about the size of a loading elevator surrounded by antiques and collectibles of all kinds including a very important sign: 'Patience required as good food takes time to prepare.' Why so important? Well, there's only one person cooking back there. ONE. If she doesn't make it, you're not eating it. It makes for consistently hearty and satisfying meals, but it does increase your wait time. Portions are HUGE (actually, the burgers border on obscene...), everything is made fresh on site, and the prices are more than affordable considering what you get! And on that note, hit up an ATM at the corner store next door since it's all cash only!

Great little hole in the wall place in Port Williams. The sign on the wall states: Patience…read morerequired as good food takes time to prepare. That says it all. It is small and cozy. Even when it was only half full we overhead the waitress welcoming new customers with "We will get to you as soon as we can". The waits weren't long, and the food was great! I rediscovered the origins of hash browns in their culturally authentic Acadian grated potato pancakes - the size of a Frisbee. Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Lots of potato flavour! The middle sized breakfast was huge - eggs, bacon, home fries and great homemade bread. Annnd - one can substitute the potato pancakes for home fries!!!! Unfortunately it can't get a 5 star because they were seen reusing the homemade jam from the individual servings - scrape the top, smooth it out and add more to the top. As much as I encourage good economics of not throwing out tons of jam - this isn't a great practise:-( So, I leave it to your judgement - food great, space small, cash only and great prices. I hope they survive and thrive in Port Williams.
