A but in the pricey side but overall great experience. I took the Sunday Southern Brunch class. The chef was knowledgeable and friendly. My group was fun to cook with. There is a cash bar which I will say for the price and the fact we can't bring outside wine, it would be nice to have one complimentary drink. All of the food in the class was good minus the biscuits. Could have used a bit more flavor such as salt and garlic powder. Overall, still a great experience and I will take a future class with Stir.

I took myself here for a solo date, participating in a holiday appetizers and hors d'oeuvres class. It was a fully booked class and had a great vibe. The menu sounded delectable and on the whole, lived up to my expectations with the exception being the polenta dish; the flavor just wasn't there for me and was easily outshined by its plate mates (bummer). The other dishes were scrumptious and ones I will try to make at home. Beverage options were okay and while the cocktails sounded yummy on paper, they didn't quite taste as good as I'd hoped, especially for the price. I'd recommend going with wine, or saving coin and opting out altogether. The bartenders were also not very attentive, which was a shame. Now, the instruction. Our chef's had great energy, but I was extremely grossed out we were not told to wash our hands before beginning, especially since many folx did not know each other. The instruction itself could also have been better. My team had to ask a lot of questions because many things were unclear. We're here to be taught, not to be left to our own devices. On the whole, I still had a great evening and got to enjoy tasty food, but I think there are better cooking classes out there. The space is cute for the size, though and I loved the intimate dining area upstairs.

UPDATE: Owner called me on the phone with gloves up. She wanted to let me know that I'm mean and that I made her customer service person cry. She was totally bitchy and unprofessional. When I began to respond she cut me off, clearly a narcissist, so I did what I had to do with my ex-husband in couples therapy, demanding that I get a turn to speak. I let her know that the fact that she's shoving a policy down my throat, which hurts by the way, doesn't change the fact that I have Covid. Not something I could bank on or plan. She did issue a refund, but not with grace or understanding. I want to reiterate, I had asked for a credit for a future class, now I will NEVER plan on doing anything "Stir Cooking School" in the future. What kind of owner calls and yells at a customer who has Covid and needs to reschedule? This kind of place. My review stands. ========================================= I guess getting Covid is not an acceptable "emergency" excuse to need to cancel a reservation. It's not like I planned to get deathly ill with a 104 fever, or intentionally went around looking to get sick. I didn't ask for a refund, I asked for a credit to be used towards a future class, and they said no. There's $100 bucks I won't see again for a cooking class I booked with excitement. It's not my damned fault I got Covid, but it's their lack of customer service or care when I asked ... not for a refund, but a credit, and they refused. So I'm out my payment and now have to go deal with the credit card company. DO NOT BOOK, if they literally don't care about the pandemic still going around, they won't give a sh1t about you as a human being. Lots of great chefs doing cooking classes around Denver, I won't book events with them again. Garbage business ethics!!! Wow. Just looked through their other 1 star reviews and saw this is their thing. As a foodie who gets a lot of people to do a lot of things, I'm telling everyone I know ... Stir is Trash.

We went for sushi making class on 8/5 for date night and it was a blast! Its in the highlands so leave some time for parking as it can be tight. The kitchen was great, we had everything we needed. Though, the knives could have used some sharpening. My boyfriend said his was extremely dull. Chef Kate and her team did a great job of managing expectations, explaining all the sushi related things we were doing, and coming around to each individual station to help us out. Chef Kate even made a really delicious (couldnt tell you what was in it) popcorn for us to munch on at the beginning. There was a full bar, for a price, and the bartenders filled your glass up at the station, so I never had to go up to the bar for a refill #score. Overall the class did take about 2.5 hours and we all got to make at least 2 sushi rolls if not more. We made some tempura shrimp and Chef Kate let us be creative and go to town making our own rolls. We had things like: salmon, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, eel, spciy tuna, yellow tail, bread crumbs, sauces. Overall it was a great experience! My only complaint was that each station had 6 people so there wasn't a lot of space to work. It did feel a little crammed.

We've been here two times and can not wait to come back. The two classes we tried were the Thai Cooking night and the New Year's resolution: healthy cooking class. We love the atmosphere of this location and the teachers are always super helpful and friendly. Come before class to try out their seasoned popcorn! Everything we made was delicious and we definitely learned a lot of new knife skills that we will be using at home from now on. I love the little sitting area they have upstairs, it is worth every cent to try out these classes!

SE Asia Street Food class This is our second class with Cook St. first time was a Mediterranean class years ago with Chef Devin don't remember but it was very good. Two people per station they prep all the ingredients and it's really beginner friendly without any culinary background. Cook St is really brave on the variety of options on world cuisines. Check their calendar they offer French, Mediterranean, Asian, knife skills, and professional programs. My favorite recipe was the 'Khao Soi' a Chin Haw dish influenced by Yunnan Chinese. You can find it at northern Thai restaurants they sell it off menu, it tastes similar to a 'Tom Kha' soup. I'm already looking at the calendar for the next class. One thing I didn't expect was its long 2.5 hrs. I wish they offered charcuterie or something that you can order to Nosh on. We made chocolate chip cookies first that we made spiders on. Next we made Royal Icing that was a bit tough to make and stiff. After we made cookie cut outs and baked. My only gripe is I wish they maybe did more of a soft icing and some toppings like sprinkles because the royal icing was hard to do any type of nice decoration on. Overall we left with a ton of cookies made and 2 big rolls of sugar cookie dough and chocolate chip cookie dough to Take home. I wish they offered more kids classes. The sauce class was amazing - over the course of two days, we learned 24 different sauces, and covered every type of sauce (dessert ones too!). We made a dish with each sauce, so we got some experience of what to pair them with. They gave us recipe packets and we went over the recipes and ingredient selection (take notes, there's a lot of information that gets shared that's not on the recipe), and then each person got to focus on one or two dishes, with interruptions to check out the important aspects of what other people were working on. The knife skills class was more basic - while fun, we already knew a lot of the information in it. There were still a few tricks to learn, of course, but it seems that past learning the basics, knife skills is mostly about getting lots of practice. The dim sum class was similar to the sauce class in the format - a bunch of recipes and each person got to pick which one they want to work on. For me, the main reason to take that class was to get some familiarity with ingredients that I haven't been exposed to (OK, I've eaten them, but I haven't cooked with them!). The techniques were introduced clearly and each of us got to practice putting together the different kinds of dumplings and potstickers and such. Since then, I've made the Cha Siu Bao, and it looks like what we learned in class stuck. I like using the cooking classes to increase my comfort level with ingredients that I haven't grown up using. Yes, I could print out a recipe and figure out a lot of it, but how and what to buy is a bit harder when I'm working with unfamiliar cuisine. The little tricks that I inevitably end up picking up from the classes are incredibly handy and increase my comfort level with cooking even more.

And I poured a little alcohol on the pot. Those were examples of my main tasks- I piped some mouse and potatoes and that's about it. In 3.5 hours. The chef was nice but very surfer chill vibe. He rushed through instructions -it was clear he has said that stuff a million times thinking it's boring to us but not realizing we actually wanted to hear it and learn. He did most of the cooking. He didn't even read the instructions in the packet to us, just took over and here and there and asked someone to stir or cut something. We didn't learn anything. And it was freezing. A few of us had our winter coats on. Food was just average. Tasted like something I would have cooked with no recipe (which is tasteless). Steak was overcooked and had a ton of fat on it. Potatoes were tasteless. Salad was ok. Mouse was ok. For Valentine's Day premium, expected more. Even Sur LA Table cooking lessons were better than this. There, I at least learned a little , got to cook my own food and the food was actually tasty and worth the wait.

Apparently there was a google deal for $19 a person and we missed it, so we paid $39 each to attend the class, but it was fun! There are numerous stations set up in the kitchen, so for this particular class, we had recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. Everyone picked a station and got to cookin'! The upside of this class was is that we definitely learned some new things and who doesn't want to only spend $4 a day on food? After everyone had finished their dishes, we all had a vegan dinner together! The food was delicious! Vegan does not mean boring in case you were wondering. :) The only downside in my opinion, is that you only get to make one meal. So, really you get to experiment with one dish, rather than multiple ones...and while the kitchen is a pretty good size, there's some bumping into each other, trying to use the stove, rinse dishes, etc. And I found it a little frustrating to not have all the utensils, equipment, bowls, etc that I needed, so I kept having to stop and ask for things. Otherwise, this was a fun experience and Penni is really fun to work with!

I learned you should shop at Whole Foods and if you can't remember to buy organic. Although the name includes cooking. Did I learn how to cook- not a bit. Like some of the reviews a friend and I bought the Living Social to attend a "class". We decided on the dessert class, well that was the only one we could get into before it expired. Literally the day it expired was the only class we could get in. All the choices of desserts to make sounded yummy, so we didn't really care where we sat but picked lemon bars. I know these are really hard for me to make- but this is a class and we will learn BONUS! So we sat through the Whole Foods spill and don't forgot you can buy these cooking books here at the store. Then the instructor went through each recipe, which was fair. I didn't mind that. However she did say, "When I take these dishes home at night, they seem to taste better after they have sat for awhile" What? I paid for the class and make it, then you get to take the leftovers home? I took a class at another school and we boxed up any leftovers and got to take them home. Seems a little weird, but after the lecture I knew this wasn't your typical cooking class. Finally time to bake and this is what she says. "I have everything label for you to use and everything you need out, so if you need me I will be back there' As I mentioned before, I have trouble making lemon bars so I went asked for some help. The recipe was confusing and she didn't straighten it out for me. ........ Lemon bars were a flop :( Now time to try everyone's do it yourself creation and for the most part they were pretty tasty. I just felt like we were rushed out- so with that being said, lots of leftovers for the staff I suppose? I could go on and on, but hopefully you get the point. If you are looking for a class, keep looking. Should you be looking for a place to make something for someone else and not have to clean up....well you found your spot.
