This guy charges more per hour for labor than a brain surgeon does! 5 thumbs down I knew what the problem was and I could have ordered the thermostat kit for our water heater for $40 to $50 dollars. I really just needed him to install it. He didn't come prepared with a hose to drain all the dirty water from the water heater out into the gutter so instead (without asking first) just drained the entire water heater tank on my garage floor damaging anything I had touching the ground on that side of the garage! After two hours he comes in and charges me almost $400. After questioning him about the cost he rudely says "plumbing is expensive". After I refused to pay that much we settled on $300 even though I still thought he was ripping me off. Just wanted him out of my house at that point read more

We called Woody when we noticed water around our toilet. We made an appointment for next week. Yesterday we noticed that there was a puddle. My husband called him and he came out this morning to fix it. What we thought was going to be a simple fix turned into an almost full day fix. They don't make professionals like Woody anymore. Our master bath shower wasn't draining and we couldn't get to the clog because the shower drain had been grouted to the shower pan when it was remodeled. Side note..always make sure your bathroom contractor installs a removable drain cover!! Ugh. I called Woody at 4:30pm on a Monday and he was willing to come out at 9:30am the next morning. He was able to chisel out the drain cover without damaging the tile and cleared the copious amounts of soap scum out of the pipes. He was polite, prompt and respectful of our home. I called Stillman Plumbing Sunday when I found my counters covered with water after running my dishwasher. Woody Stillman said it was probably a bad air gap. I called Woody at 4:30 pm when water was leaking from my fire-sprinkler in my master bath. He came out immediately. Assessed the problem, inspected the water heater and found that was also leaking and causing damage and set about securing the problem right away. He returned the next morning and fixed the major leak in the attic and had to fix a leak in the copper piping in my water heater. I would not recommend Woody Stillman for any of your plumbing needs. He was hired to unclog a toilet. He snaked it and it wasn't completed. He said he was booked on Friday and Saturday (after this Thursday visit), but would come back the following week. When he didn't call on Monday, I called him to track him down. He came to the house but said he could not find the main line and would be back. He Never came back, despite repeat phone calls. He then stated he didn't remember telling me he would return! I had called Sunday to get quotes from 3 plumbers locally. Mr Stillman called Monday to schedule a visit that day. He called back after researching the water heaters manufacturer's info on the tank to tell me that he thought it might be a repair rather than a new tank. The other 2 plumbers after their visit quoted the cost of a new water heater, but no lesser repair was mentioned. Mr Stillman also checked to find the tank was still under warranty. He quoted me his labor and cost for the part so that the manufacturer would cover that party's cost when the invoice was sent to them. He stuck by the quote even though it took a little longer because he was explaining his repair as he went through the process. He cleaned up as he finished. The next day Mr Stillman called to make sure his repair was doing the job. That to me was the best experience I could imagine. read more

When we called him, scheduled return visit, never showed and never called. Woody was great! We got a walk-in tub and it wasn't filling all the way with hot water. The salesman had assured me my tank was big enough and I didn't know what to expect when Woody came out, but I was expecting he'd probably say I needed a new water heater. I needed a plywood reinforcement under my water heater, which was in a second floor closet. I called and asked for quotations from several plumbers and handymen. Mr. Stillman gave me the lowest quote so I decided to go with him. We had scheduled to meet on a Sunday, since it is the only day that I can do it. Even though Mr. Stillman was late to our appointment (he's coming from Tracy to go the East Bay), I was very happy with the quality of his work. He was very meticulous, was very careful in taking the water heater out. He was also very calm and patient. Imagine trying to put in a piece of plywood in a small closet! What I especially liked is the fact that he cleaned the area where he was putting in the plywood (previous owner left a lot of gunk! ewww!). He also explained to me all the things that he did and what to look out for (signs of leaks, etc.). He spent a little over 4 hours in between draining the water heater, taking it out, measuring the area where the plywood would go, putting the plywood in, putting back the water heater in, putting back all the connections and making sure there were no leaks whatsoever - all these for a very reasonable price! Considering the fact that my sister, my roommate and I are a tough crowd to please, Mr. Stillman met and exceeded our expectations.
