Once my husband discovered this spot in a nice outdoor setting, he became an enthusiastic fan. He…read moretakes the grandchildren every chance he gets as an excuse to get an Ice Cream Sundae for himself. There are picnic tables available on the property in front of a wooden fence where you can often see a few cows grazing nearby. Talk about farm to market! Not only is the homemade ice cream top quality, it is delicious. In addition, they serve soft vanilla and soft chocolate, dole whip, homemade Italian Ice, and Frogurt. The numerous flavors of ice cream are rich and bold. They are described well on the menu. Portions are generous so you may want to size down. I like a "small" cone of the Toffee Heath Bar Crunch. Staff is friendly and efficient no matter how long the line is at the window.

A small cone or dish is 3 scoops, currently at $5.25, tax included. It's cash only, but there's an ATM several feet to the right of the ordering counter. I got 2 scoops of peanut butter ice cream topped with a scoop of vanilla. The vanilla had some very small ice crystals in it but was otherwise fine. I really love their peanut butter ice cream. It's creamy with the peanut butter flavor but not overwhelming. The cone does seem to be a little small for all that ice cream, so don't dilly-dally too much eating it in warm weather. Since some other parlors near me have closed, Scoups has become by default the closest ice cream spot to me that makes their own hard ice cream. This is not a bad thing. It's also not bad that it's not too far away from Wolf Road, and it becomes a convenient spot for dessert after dinner nearby.

The other night, the weather was warm. My friend and I were out for a drive. We pulled into Kurver Kreme. What a nice experience! The stand is well lit. There were dozens of vehicles in the large parking lot. It looked like a tailgate. Some customers were sitting in the back of their hatchbacks taking in the scene and enjoying the warm weather. There were no lines. Many customers were just hanging out after finishing their ice creams. Some were lost in conversation. Others were busy "people watching" as a wide variety of vehicles continued to pull into the parking lot. The stand looks to be mid-century and appropriately old R&B music and 60s Rock classics blared from the speaker system. Most of the ice cream is soft serve. I ordered a small chocolate in a cup. It was good. My friend ordered a pomegranate and mango Dole whip twist, which is sort of like sherbet. It was both pretty and tasty. Elaina was our server. She was friendly and helpful. She filled our orders quickly. We had a fun time. I'm glad we stopped.

Delicious, relaxed lunch with my daughter. First time for her and second for me…read more The Mango Green Ice Tea was refreshing. We both ordered the Beef Sukiyaki and tossed salad. The tender moist beef slices on a roll were very good. The Ginger dressing on the salad was flavorful, and I wish I could buy it to elevate salads at home. We enjoyed the Red Bean Ice Cream which is creamy with tidbits of bean. Outstanding. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient! Ambiance is relaxed which was welcome after shopping on Wolf Road. The tea was wonderful and our lunch items came quickly and were tasty. We asked to keep a menu, explaining we would like to get dessert after. Once we we received our lunch food, it quickly went downhill. We never saw our waitress again after that. My son finished his Boba tea and wanted another, but our waitress never came over to check on us. We sat for over 40 minutes after we recieved our initial order and not one waitstaff came over to ask if we wanted anything else, nor did they come over to give us the check. After giving up hope of dessert and more tea, we eventually went to the front counter to pay since we realized no one was coming to give us the bill. Normally, I would understand if it was understaffed or busy- yet the two parties next to us had waitstaff come over numerous times. We were literally ignored. We won't be back and I do not recommend.

Chinese buffet with some regular food offerings such as baked Salmon and mashed potatoes. Several beverages come with buffet. Chinese items: 2 Stars There were several Chinese dishes with chicken. I sampled five, all of which were poor to mediocre. Chicken was tough, overcooked/fried. Vegetables were scarce. Hot and sour soup had fresh mushroom slices but little tofu; it was not hot in temp. Pork Egg Roll was good. Sushi was 4 stars. There were six kinds. No signs to identify. The accompanying Seaweed Salad was excellent. A bowl of pickled ginger was available. Yum. Salmon and mashed potatoes were good. Did not try stir-fry or pizza. Desserts were poor. Fresh watermelon slices were old and DRY. What? Pineapple was fresh. Also had boring red and green jello, Banana Pudding, and dry almond cookies. Whole bananas with drizzle of ? pink sauce was not appetizing. Lunch was $13.99 plus. Not a value to me since I did not enjoy my lunch.

Every time they filled the buffet they wiped down the counter and as soon as someone left they swept under the tables. Some of the staff weren't overly friendly but I attribute it to a language barrier. The food was better than I expected but I don't think it's quite as good as ordering takeout from other places. The only disappointment was they didn't have boneless spare ribs (the one thing that I wanted) but maybe they rotate dishes. Notable items include: beef & broccoli, chicken in garlic sauce, sesame chicken, pork egg roll, dumpling, stuffed mushrooms, chicken wings, and clams in garlic butter. Items to skip: stuffed clam, vegetable lo mein, sweet & sour chicken, and fried donut (needed more powdered sugar). Beware: some of the items may be mis-marked. I tried one of the "chicken nuggets" that definitely had the texture and taste of whitefish.

When I first discovered Kim's, comparison to Jang Teo was inevitable and, as a result, I quickly decided I preferred Jang Teo. Some years later, I revisited Kim's to realise that their pricing for the most part is comparable to Jang Teo, and they tend to stock some unusual items that are hit and miss. Take the frozen bibim kit recent for, for example. I wasn't interested especially with the $5.99 price tag, but I picked it up after seeing it discounted to $3.99 albeit with reservations. It turns out I had reasons to be hesitant. The rice is too sticky for bibim and there's not nearly enough toppings. On the other hand, the frozen kimbap rolls still impress me and are clearly a hit. All in all, I'm appreciative that they're with us and I can source goodies without needing to travel hundreds of miles. Long live Kim's.
