For decades I've driven past Kurver Kreme on Central Avenue in Colonie without stopping. It's…read morealways peaked my interest but I always made excuses. On a diet. In a hurry. Always something. The other night, the weather was warm. My friend and I were out for a drive. We pulled into Kurver Kreme. What a nice experience! The stand is well lit. There were dozens of vehicles in the large parking lot. It looked like a tailgate. Some customers were sitting in the back of their hatchbacks taking in the scene and enjoying the warm weather. There were no lines. Many customers were just hanging out after finishing their ice creams. Some were lost in conversation. Others were busy "people watching" as a wide variety of vehicles continued to pull into the parking lot. The stand looks to be mid-century and appropriately old R&B music and 60s Rock classics blared from the speaker system. Most of the ice cream is soft serve. I ordered a small chocolate in a cup. It was good. My friend ordered a pomegranate and mango Dole whip twist, which is sort of like sherbet. It was both pretty and tasty. Elaina was our server. She was friendly and helpful. She filled our orders quickly. We had a fun time. I'm glad we stopped.

my gosh, been about oh 35 years since I've been here, 3 stars…read more i enjoy a tasty softserve, they certainly delivered there. they also had a few non traditional (AKA vanilla/chocolate) flavors to mix together, i think there was rootbeer sherbet and some blue cotton candy maybe, idk, i went purest (van) but also added some chocolate mint sprinkles. major letdown with the sprinkles, they werent soft and were kinda chalky, now i know. service was quick, line was disjointed, so prepare for that on your typical summer evening, but noon in april, not so much. also 5 bucks for a small cone, which is kinda pricey in my gluttonous opinion. is it stopping me from going back? nahhhh, but i would seek out alternatives if i really wanted, but when i want soft serve, its certainly an option. coney

Delicious, relaxed lunch with my daughter. First time for her and second for me…read more The Mango Green Ice Tea was refreshing. We both ordered the Beef Sukiyaki and tossed salad. The tender moist beef slices on a roll were very good. The Ginger dressing on the salad was flavorful, and I wish I could buy it to elevate salads at home. We enjoyed the Red Bean Ice Cream which is creamy with tidbits of bean. Outstanding. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient! Ambiance is relaxed which was welcome after shopping on Wolf Road. And the bucket chairs are so comfortable.

The tea was wonderful and our lunch items came quickly and were tasty. We asked to keep a menu, explaining we would like to get dessert after. Once we we received our lunch food, it quickly went downhill. We never saw our waitress again after that. My son finished his Boba tea and wanted another, but our waitress never came over to check on us. We sat for over 40 minutes after we recieved our initial order and not one waitstaff came over to ask if we wanted anything else, nor did they come over to give us the check. After giving up hope of dessert and more tea, we eventually went to the front counter to pay since we realized no one was coming to give us the bill. Normally, I would understand if it was understaffed or busy- yet the two parties next to us had waitstaff come over numerous times. We were literally ignored. We won't be back and I do not recommend.

The private parking lot is convenient, but the place is easy to miss while driving--look for the Dairy Queen across the street as your landmark. Definitely try the wasabi hot peas and the fresh Thai peppers--they're awesome!

I am (= we are) blessed with two legit Korean grocery stores in the capital region, and Kim's earns…read moreextra two points just for that, in my book. When I first discovered Kim's, comparison to Jang Teo was inevitable and, as a result, I quickly decided I preferred Jang Teo. Some years later, I revisited Kim's to realise that their pricing for the most part is comparable to Jang Teo, and they tend to stock some unusual items that are hit and miss. Take the frozen bibim kit recent for, for example. I wasn't interested especially with the $5.99 price tag, but I picked it up after seeing it discounted to $3.99 albeit with reservations. It turns out I had reasons to be hesitant. The rice is too sticky for bibim and there's not nearly enough toppings. On the other hand, the frozen kimbap rolls still impress me and are clearly a hit. All in all, I'm appreciative that they're with us and I can source goodies without needing to travel hundreds of miles. Long live Kim's.
