My friends took me to Short and Stout recently, and I was blown away by how adorable the tea house is. It's much larger inside than I expected, and it's clear that so much thought has gone into every detail--from the paintings on the wall to the history of tea displays, and even the cute items and teas available in the shop. There's a cozy tea lounge and plenty of seating upstairs, where I noticed many people working as well. What really caught my eye were the fun, creative flavors they offer! They have sundae bubble teas like pumpkin pie, banana split, cookies 'n' cream, and even fruity pebbles. I was so impressed and excited to try them. I had the coffee bubble tea, which was delicious, and the taro sundae was equally amazing. Besides their 150 different kinds of tea (crazy, right?!), they also serve light snacks. I tried the macarons, mochi waffle, and mochi--all of which tasted great. They also have savory snacks like dumplings, which I didn't try but looked tempting. The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful! If you're really into tea, they even offer workshops, which I thought was a nice touch. This is probably my favorite bubble tea spot--it's so cute and the variety is unbeatable!

Once again, these guys seem to have all the ingredients to be the best in the biz but to me, aren't. The two biggest issues that stand out are the tea and the boba. At some point, their tea started losing flavour and becoming weak, as if they weren't using enough tea leaves for a fuller flavour, which they once had and which is why I know they have what it takes to brew consistently full-flavoured teas. Is there one or more reason for this? I don't know. Now, the boba. Theirs is usually consistently cooked and flavoured well, but they just don't give me enough. Naturally, this was particularly noticeable whenever I got a large tea. So much so that I commented to a staff one day and gently asked if I could get a few more. The response was that they had adjusted the serving size based on customer feedback (clearly not mine), and that if I wanted more, "you can pay extra." Sure, but it's hard to imagine that most, or any, customer would offer less vs more boba. Then, if most all of their customers truly prefer less boba and I'm the only customer who offers a little more, wouldn't it be reasonable to give just that one customer a little bit extra boba in the name of goodwill and customer service? I wouldn't even mention the tone of the staff's voice when she said what she said. I hope they continue to improve and be successful, but this store wouldn't be at the top of my list when I'm next craving boba tea or asked for recommendation.

This is my FAVORITE place to visit for tea. Joyce and Matt are two of the kindest people my family have ever met and their kindness is reflected in the entire SST team. I think, I have been a regular patron since 2012! Short and Stout honors tea and tea producers. While they have a wide selection of blended teas, they have a respectable selection for tea purists. Sometimes I come in for a pot of osmanthus oolong. Other times I come for salted caramel puerh latte. They make amazing sweet and savory pastries. My favorites are the chicken yellow curry puff, the veggie rolls, and of course the macrons. I cannot believe that I have never reviewed them. While I have many pics from over the years, I am just sharing my latest one. If you are visiting the area and your love tea, just go. You deserve it .

If you are interested in trying a unique variety of teas I would definitely recommend Short and Stout Tea Company. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable on the different teas available. Cute and quiet spot.

I'm not an avid tea drinker, but my son is, and he told me about this place. So, I decided to check it out when I was back home for a week. The girl at the counter was patient with me as I asked a lot of questions and changed my mind a couple of times on what drink I wanted. I decided on the strawberry guava quencher, sweetened with honey, and , wow, it was so good. I bought a couple of sample packs to take home. I'd definitely give this place a try. They do have a retail section.

While we were visiting the "Capital Region" my daughter (18yo, big boba/bubble tea connoisseur) found this place online. She selected it from among many options based on their website & reviews. It was a great choice. We REALLY loved the iced milk teas (with pearls) we each chose. They were delicious. We bought some macarons to try; they were also fantastic. The flavor options were tremendous. Their prices are not low, but I didn't expect them to be. I would only have considered this place "too expensive" if their products turned out to be something less than excellent. That didn't happen. Before leaving we spent a little time walking around the retail displays they had set up inside the shop - so many great looking/sounding dried tea leaf options for sale, along with a selection of other interesting, carefully curated items. We relaxed for a brief time in one of the cozy seating areas they had set up in several spots around their interior space. The furnishings and decor are aesthetically pleasing . This establishment is located on the first floor of an older house, i.e. what was once a private residence. They have done an excellent job turning it into a charming tea shop.

I was visiting some friends in Albany for the day when they suggested we stop here for some refreshments. I'm not the biggest tea drinker, but if the mood catches me right I will partake in a brew. That being said, we took the short trip down Western to Short and Stout. I wasn't really sure what to expect before arriving at Short and Stout - perhaps something more along the lines of a tea shop where you check out an go. I was surprised to see that this was a full-on tea lounge where you can sit and enjoy your beverage. Upon walking in you're greeted by two lounge-like seating areas and an ordering counter. Upstairs, there is additional seating areas and a concentration room that is dedicated to drinking tea in a more traditional manner. Throughout the space, the decor and aesthetics really create a serene space to sit, sip, read, study, converse, and enjoy. I was really impressed with the selection that Short and Stout has - in addition to traditional teas, they have several specialty tea beverages and a full bubble tea menu. They actually have around 150 varieties that you can make into a beverage or take home and brew yourself, and provide table service if you are ordering to stay. The Thai Iced Tea looked good, so I decided to go with that - and for some extra oomph I opted to add tapioca pearls. The tea was good - it had that sweet and slightly rich taste I expected but it was also refreshing. Service was awesome - everyone we encountered was super helpful and seemed to really have a passion for what they were doing. Overall, Short and Stout really exceeded my expectations - they provide an excellent selection of teas in a comfortable environment. I only wish I lived closer to this space so I can visit more often. Until the next time I'm in Albany...

You know that you're doing well when other restaurants look to you as the resource & education in opening up their restaurants (ie. Short & Stout supplies tea & their recipes to Bard & Baker Board Game Cafe and Storied Coffee, to name a few. Also with a trajectory of employees going on to open business/work after working at Short & Stout). I think Short & Stout may be the first Bubble Tea place in the area (opened at least 5-7 years) and I think they set the standard pretty high. An undiscovered gem in the suburbs of Guilderland, NY! Owner Joyce, originally from Thailand, travels throughout Asia yearly and works with small farmers. I didn't realize how important this is, until I started going to the restaurant more. The quality just doesn't compare to other chain & semi chain coffee and tea (ie. WK..) shops. You're going to find a welcoming place with a homey Upstate feel, but with an exhaustive menu that rivals NYC or any major city, Asian neighborhood. I mean- they even have cheese foam topped teas! (Hello Taiwan craze!) I'm not sure what was formerly in this little house (behind a Mexican Restaurant on busy Western Ave.), but don't let that deter you- just GO! They had an outpost shop at Crossgates Mall also, but I think it closed during the pandemic. The staff is kind, thorough and super helpful. They recently finished a 2nd floor seating area expansion in their current place. During the times that I've gone around lunch or as a treat after work, they are BUSY. There is a constant steady stream of pick-ups and this Friday lunch, they had 6 tables of groups: professional workers, families, lady friends catching up & surprisingly a table of high school guys. WHO doesn't love Ube Lattes! HIGHLY recommend the Genmaicha Tea Latte with Boba. It's toasty, not overtly strong in the green tea, hint of brown sugar & just unique and enjoyable. Have had the Ginger Lemon refresher which was nice, but I always go back to the Genmaicha (toasted rice green tea). Have had their Strawberry Fields Latte and Black & Blue (blackberry blueberry) Tisanes at Bard & Baker, they're delicious also. Food-wise, there's 4-Cheese Grilled Cheeses, Curry puffs, Spring Rolls, Croissant Sandwiches, Scones, French Macarons, individual little green tea Kit Kats. The food feels a lot like a *nice* grilled cheese, visiting someone's mom's house would make, or reheated spring roll. Not as star quality as the drinks, but a still good. They have a nice retail section with Sample packs (makes about 3 cups) and larger 2-3oz. packages of their tea. Lots of tea accessories, tumblers, strainers. I've bought a Stoneground Matcha Tin ($18) and Loose Uji GenMaicha (freshly packed for me: 2oz. for $11). I don't think I'll go back to sad bagged (tasteless) tea for a while! Definitely worth a visit! Dangerous on my wallet! I hope this place stays open for a long time! Note: It does takes some time for orders (tea and food) to come out. Due to brew times (as everything is fresh!) & being busy. Feel they need to expand to two tea stations & more grilled cheese presses.

Ordered for pickup via their app, which was user friendly and gives you $3 off just for downloading it. There is a pickup window at the side and an ordering window near the front. They aren't letting people inside (limited capacity) without answering screening questions at this time. I have to say I was confused because they told us we should have let them know when we're here to pick up an order, but wasn't sure how to do so. The window is a small closed window so were we supposed to just bang on it from outside? We ended up going to the front and someone gave us our drinks through the back window. I was also disappointed because I wanted to get the genmaicha matcha latte, but assumed they weren't making it anymore since it wasn't on the menu online. However, the menu on site has it and a ton of other items I would have been interested in trying had they been on the online menu. Anyways, I ordered a taro bubble tea with half sugar and my friend got jasmine bubble tea. I enjoyed mine and felt that it wasn't too sweet or artificial tasting, and the boba were fresh and chewy. I would like to come back one day to sit down and have some drinks and snacks, but I have heard that they take forever to come out. Overall I'm pretty impressed by the quality of the bubble tea, but they need to work on logistics a bit.

Cute little shop with a variety of tea flavors to choose from and huge range of macarons. Service from the cashier was great (smiley, happy guy) but the rest of the staff had attitude and got our order wrong without any apologies / comments. Also ordering 7 macarons (to put into a little box) took ~10 minutes. Macarons in general were alright - a bit dense and sugary. Floral flavors have a much stronger scent than taste which is a bit off-putting. Overall a more mediocre experience - highlight was really just the nice cashier and cute aesthetic.

Great bubble tea place! Just ~20 mins from RPI. They now have a window next to the entrance to place your order, and once it's ready, they'll call your name from the pick-up window. Current favorite order: mango milk tea with mango popping bubbles

What truly sets The Tailored Tea apart is its commitment to customization and quality. The tea selection is extensive without feeling overwhelming, and everything is presented with care and intention. Whether you're a casual tea drinker or someone who knows the difference between oxidation levels in oolong, the staff takes time to guide you toward something that genuinely fits your taste. That "tailored" aspect isn't just a name--it's the philosophy. I ordered a blended herbal tea that was recommended based on my flavor preferences, and it was exceptional: balanced, aromatic, and layered without being overpowering. You can tell the ingredients are high quality, and nothing tastes rushed or artificial. Even the presentation--the cups, the pours, the little details--adds to the sense that this place values the full sensory experience. Service deserves special mention. The staff is attentive in a calm, unhurried way that feels genuine rather than scripted. They're knowledgeable without being pretentious, and they clearly enjoy helping guests explore new flavors.
