I feel that this place has somewhat fallen out of favour. Perhaps it's that a large boba tea costs over $7 or it's a bit out of the way for us compared to other boba spots. I'm still a supporter of what I assume to be a family business, but my initial enthusiasm has certainly waned over time. On a subconscious level, their smaller boba perhaps is not as appealing as full size boba? Still, there are a few things that tick the right boxes for us, including their dessert options. Ordered from Romanteac today after hospital visit. We've had the bubble tea before and it's always delicious. They were pretty busy today with orders stacked up a bit. Only two working. But it was clean and welcoming. This time we tried the food as well as the tea. Omg the cold grilled noodles were one of the best things I've tasted in a very long time. Generous portion for sure. Mildly spiced. Newly opened boba place I happened to stumble in one evening in Albany. It was so gorgeous inside, definitely picture-worthy and a fun place. They had so many boba options and "cheese" options which is a tea with cream cheese?! I didn't try that one, but was so curious! I was coming in close to their closing time, so I just got a quick boba tea with no sugar. The tapioca and service was great. I didn't stay inside long, but really enjoyed the fun atmosphere. I'm always on the look for the more boba in the area! Romanteac is definitely aiming for that cute, aesthetic look to its store, there's so many IG opportunities. I think if it was a little more open spaced with more windows I would stop by and spend time studying. I got a basic black milk tea, which was pretty solid. The cup and the logo was also super cute and resonated with my need for boba to be in my veins LOL. They had run out of the dessert I wanted, so I grabbed an egg tart which was surprisingly really good! I went super Asian mom and thought, If there was a party I would bulk order a bunch of these, they would totally be a hit XD. This is my fourth visit and things were not quite as smooth today. I ordered online to pickup and after more than 15 minutes my drink wasn't ready. I checked my phone later and found out they had canceled my order... When I showed up to pick up my strawberry lemon tea with brown sugar Boba and milk foam I found out that they didn't have something. The regular cashier wasn't there and the girls accent was a little thick so I was having trouble understanding. I didnt mind waiting though. I thought I was getting strawberry flavored tea but it was strawberry lemonade with strawberry popping Boba. They had added fresh strawberry pulp and a couple of lime slices. This was way too sweet for me and the milk foam kind of curdled because I didn't realize it was lemonade and not tea. I REALLY wish they would just offer strawberry milk tea... In the future I'll stick with ordering the Earl gray or Jasmine green tea with Boba. The mochi I ordered was AMAZING! probably the best mochi I've ever had. The mochi was soft and chewy with a little toasted coconut and filled with pillowy whipped cream and fresh diced strawberries. They rotate their desserts and I'm not sure where they get them from but I hope I can get that again in the future. read more

I would put zero, but this damn app won't let me. It's a beautiful location, but I really wish they'd spent more money on quality product and less on the decor. When I went in, I asked for a green tea bubble tea, they told me they were out. I pretty much ran down most of their menu to no success, until I got to the Cupful PassionFruit tea. They took a container of Welch's Passionfruit Juice, measured a cup, then added some water. I was flabbergasted. I looked at the fridge behind the counter and noticed the "Great Value" brand coffee creams. This place is basically an overpriced $2 Walmart purchase ($7 dollars for for watered down fruit from concentrate?!) So sad. Save your money. read more

Very disappointing My friend and I order Romanteac Jasmine Oolong (the one with cheesy milk top). The tea was very watery- not my flavor. Very watered down. The cheesy top was not flavorful at all. Bubble tea was fine - honestly a lot less tasty as what we (as non-experts!) make with minimal effort from our Asian Supermarket (Central Ave) purchases, but at least without any prep time on our part. I am, however, seriously concerned about the staff's understanding of serious health risks, and wouldn't bring my family here again. Romanteac staff informed me and my (lactose intolerant) partner that all of their offerings were dairy-free and none had milk products. We verbally confirmed this a couple times with staff. The drinks we received tasted to me like they contained milk, and my partner and our kids (all besides me are lactose-intolerant) subsequently had symptoms consistent with lactose intake. I can't find verification of the milk-free claims anywhere online. In theory it's possible that my partner/kids all ingested lactose from a different source, though I suspect that's not the case; the kids both reported a "funny taste" to their bubble tea, and both have otherwise successfully avoided real milk within the past five years. I tasted my drink only after my partner and the kids had had theirs - I'm not lactose-intolerant, I drink milk on a regular basis (clearly labeled in our fridge!), and I'm almost certain they had milk. It is, in fact, really important for restaurants and cafes to be able to give customers accurate information about ingredients. My family is lactose intolerant, and the extent of risk they face from lactose involves bloating/diarrhea. But my 9-year-old has a classmate who is severely allergic to milk. If he came with us to Romanteac and accidentally had milk (after we repeatedly asked if the drinks contained milk!), it could be fatal. This is... actually important. I can't emphasize this enough. Some people have potentially fatal reactions to milk. If restaurant/cafe food has milk, it is absolutely essential that staff be able to tell customers that. Can the owner(s) of Romanteac confirm that all drinks sold here are milk-free? I will update this review if restaurant owners confirm that all drinks sold at Romanteac are dairy-free - and if so, I am deeply sorry for the inaccurate/damaging review of your staff and restaurant, and will spend my next several cafe meetings there. (May I also suggest advertising the lactose-free drinks on your website? There are many Capital District vegans I suspect would be happy to come to a dairy-free bubble tea shop!) read more

I happened to be driving by and saw a sign for bubble tea and thought "how perfect!" Because I was craving bubble tea. So I pulled in and decided to give this place a try. There was someone (I believe the owner? Or maybe just someone that worked there) smoking in the area which was automatically a little off putting. But I went in anyway. The inside was so cute. You can tell that they recently did work. Loved the modern layout. There was nobody in there when we walked in. I was looking at the menu and asked which ones have boba, and it was only three options: Romanteac matcha, Romanteac bubble tea, and Romanteac Oreo tea. Safe to say I was a little disappointed since I was looking for an array of options. Overall the tea itself was okay. It was a little gritty and the bobas were all clumped together and it was difficult to drink. I think there are better options in the area. read more

I was craving bubble tea and looked up places to get it in the area when I was pleasantly surprised to see this business pop up. I drove a bit out of my way because I wanted bubble tea so much. It was easy to find and the parking is plentiful. When I went in there was a group of three before me and one employee working, so she took our four orders and got to work making them. I was disappointed that I had walked in last because I know making the teas is time consuming, however without me saying a word the employee made my drink first and helped me get on my way, as it was clear the other three patrons would be staying to dine in. I was pleasantly surprised at the helpful gesture and it made my afternoon that much smoother. Like another reviewer, I wish there were a few more options that came with the bubbles on the menu, however I greatly enjoyed the flavor of my Romanteac Bubble Tea and the texture of the bubbles (big and squishy!). I do wish, for a size "large", that it had been a bit larger and had more bubbles in the serving, but I am happy to have supported this business as it develops and would definitely go again. read more

Honestly extremely subpar. The tea was watery/watered down, and the boba was not sweet at all- basically plastic-flavored tapioca. Cashiers were nice but seemed uninterested and unenthusiastic. this is a cute aesthetic place with photo op LED lights as decor. i only tried a few drinks from them so far. peach fruit tea is by far my favorite. i like their fruits teas way better than milk teas. matcha milk tea wasn't as flavorful and oreo milk tea tasted regular. overall good place. read more
