9am on a Friday. The drive-thru is backed up to the road, which is not unusual for this location, but still. I figure since I am ordering two very simple things: a pike's roast and a scone, i will not be lazy and go in cafe for my order. I walk in and nobody is manning the register. Someone says they'll be with me soon. She's working the ovens, and is in a mad rush. A few minutes later she takes my order. About 10 minutes later I finally get my coffee. I noticed there's a couple who has been waiting for their order next to me since I have been there. After another 5 or 10 minutes the man asks about his order. One of the barista apologizes: "Sorry, we're getting a lot of drive-thru and mobile orders so yours is in the back of the queue." This is not the first time this has happened to me at Starbucks, or at this location. I waited another 5 minutes and left. I have been to this Starbucks at least ten times and the workers there are always so nice, patient, and helpful. The food is great and if you don't know what to order they will help you. Although, one thing I recommend is to use the drive thru rather then going in if your getting anything other then a baked good becuse it is a longer wait for drinks if you order inside. Probably the best Starbucks in the area. They staff is always very friendly and helpful, and the drinks seem to be better compared to the drinks made by others (i.e. Crossgates, Hoosick, etc.). My mom comes here with her dog all the time, and the staff are always so sweet when she comes around. They even made my mom's dog her own "Puppaccino" and hand-fed it to her. Very cute experience! I don't really have anything new to say about Starbucks, but seeing I come to this location multiple times a week I felt I should say what I like about this location. Service is friendly, and the people working here seem to enjoy what they do. They're quick and neat as well. Whoever does the hiring at this location did a great job with the current team. This isn't one of the larger Starbucks around here, but there is enough seating and the people who come here don't really seem to sit around all that long. Unlike some of the customers at other locations. Not a lot of long term lap-toppers or study groups here. Wolf Road towards Central Ave. and Stuyvesant are ridiculous with that issue at times. What I don't like about this location is the parking lot and the way it mixes in with the drive-thru traffic. More than once I've gone to back out and someone rounding the corner, from finishing up at the drive-thru, has come speeding through behind me. read more

I'm not sure what has happened to this store but it has absolutely gone down hill. I am a frequent visitor of all the local Starbucks and this location is the only one with consistent problems. They seem to be staffed, almost over staffed so I'm unsure why it takes 15 minutes for my order to be ready. This morning they didn't put part of my order in, when I mentioned I was missing something, they said they'd have it right out. After waiting another 5 minutes it finally came out and we pulled away and were left with a sarcastic "you're welcome!" That seems to be a trend for the staff here. Would recommend going to other location, even if this one is closer to you. Trust me it'll take the same amount of time. read more

I stop at the Starbucks in East Greenbush quite often since it's conveniently located near where I grew up. The layout of this Starbucks is very cozy with adequate seating inside and there's also outside patio seating in front of the building. The service here is good and my coffee is brewed just right each time. I usually get a Grande or Venti Dark Roast with room with oatmeal cookies or cake pops. The place seems steady busy, especially on the weekends when I usually stop in. This location is not crazy busy with nonstop long lines like at the mall locations (ie. Crossgates Mall and Pheasant Lane Mall near my NH home). The parking lot layout is a bit tight with the drive thru lane beginning near the main entrance/exit access point. I sometimes have to wait a few seconds (behind a car in the drive thru queue) to turn left to park my vehicle in front of the building. read more

Dark roast coffee is cheap unsophisticated coffee, they say. Dark coffee, critics moan, is for unrefined palates. One local Albany reviewer said it is easy to mass produce since roasters just basicallly burn it so drinkers can doctor up with add-ins to mask the burnt taste. The local reviewer was extolling the virtues of local roasters and their light roasts. Dark roasts, in his view, are burnt catastrophes bankrolling for places like Starbucks and McDonald's with add-ins being an easy cash cow. I have these criticisms in mind as drink today's iced latte. Sure it is smokey and sugary. You don't need refined tastes. And this predictability is really nice, I think. This Starbucks boasts an updated building with modern wood siding, a large retail section and outdoor seating. All of the baristas are pleasant and helpful.The drive thru is quick. They let me use a personal cup. So I will continue to drink my inferior doctored coffee and love it. read more

I go to this Starbucks 3-4 times a week, normally they do a great job but as of lately my order has been incorrect. I drink decaf coffee for medical reasons and on numerous occasions have received a coffee with caffeine without knowing. Today's iced coffee had way too much cream, I always ask for light cream and the amount of ice is ridiculous! I could hardly get the straw into the drink because of all the ice. I will never go to any Starbucks ever again for both political and food reasons. I'm not going to talk politics so I will talk foo. I ordered a chocolate doughnut from here and it was dry and tasted like it was three days old. Also the coffee here is terrible, it tastes weird and not fresh. Drive through has always been fast every time I've been there. One thing inside is that I know right now is summer but the place is a freezer! I went there to study until late and it was 9-10pm and I was wearing a sweater and still shaking. Don't know, maybe it's me but they can always check if the A/C is not trying to turn people into ice cubes. I've been coming here for years (hell, it used to be my office!) and I always like to stop by when I am in town. Many of the same people work there which tells you something about the pleasant environment (the manager is super nice and on top of things). The staff are always friendly (can't say the same for the gang across the street at Dunkin Donuts) and the drinks are made right. I have never had a problem here. The only bummer is the layout of the store. For retail, Rensselaer County gets short shrift and this is the ONLY Starbucks on this side of the river and ti took a good long time before it finally made an appearance. I've been to this utilitarian coffee Starbucks place a number of times and aside from the Starbucks quality drinks and slightly above average service, there slinks a lovely and odd barrista situation. I have not in five years of coming here seen a guy working here. Call me sexist, but this has to be the thing that most sets this place apart from the other cookie cutters. Not sure if the hirer meant to do this? Makes my job as a guy easier, since service is usually better with opposite sex combos. Otherwise, this is a pretty good place considering the difficult location scenario: DD, Target, sprint, Mobil, breuggers and Walmart all within sprawl distance. Staff is very inconsistent when they make drinks and rude when you ask them to correct it. Last week my boss picked up an order for the whole office on her way into work around 11 a.m. Both my iced latte and my coworker's iced latte had visible chunks of curdled milk in it. I used my whole lunch break to go back to this Starbucks (15 min each way) and have them re-made. I asked to speak to a manager about this issue when I arrived and instead I was presented with an incompetent supervisor with absolutely no customer service skills named Alexus. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, she pretty much patronized me while snickering because "[they] don't use expired milk", apparently the chunks were due to the white mocha as their white mocha is always "quite chunky". I told her that was funny because I never have an issue at the Hoosick St. location or in Wolf Rd. Then she proceeded to show me that the milk wasn't expired so it definitely couldn't have been the milk, even though she admitted that she could see visible chunks in the drinks. That explanation is laughable. My boss picked up the drinks about 1 hour prior to me coming back to have them re-made, so how can you be sure that the same jug of "non-expired" milk was used? And has Alexus seriously never had milk that has expired before the expiration date.... because I sure have! Then she told me that if I had just called them, she could have explained to me that it was the white mocha that was the issue and saved me a trip down there. Are you kidding me? You would have told me this without even seeing it? My drink cost $7 alone.... there should be no chunks in there. Period! And for the record, I did not just make this up so that I could miss taking a lunch just to drive 30 minutes to have 2 drinks re-made! What's also kind of funny is that my coworker did not have her iced latte made with white mocha and yet there were chunks floating in her drink too! Regardless, Alexus never once apologized for the inconveience and tried to shame me in front of customers and employees (who by the way, were starting at me from the time Alexus abruptly asked, "what more do you want me to do.... I'm remaking it, aren't I?... but only after she argued with me). The other drinks my boss picked up were all fine because they were made with skim milk, not whole. Honestly, I am a long time and faithful Starbucks customer and have never had an issue at any other Starbucks other than this location. I'd like to say this is the first issue that I've had with them, but it's not.... the staff is rude and needs to be retrained on how to consistently make drinks and how to provide good customer service. I plan on calling the corporate office to let them know about the rude staff that represents their company at this particular location. read more

For what I expected out of a Starbucks, I wasn't overly impressed. Staff inside is very friendly, but inside the place was kind of dirty. The condiments area had sugar all over little paper pieces and dried spilled milk. The floor was also dirty as well. Coffee itself was decent.....I kept it simple with a regular coffee. It was hot and not too dark or light so it was brewed well also. Inside is also much smaller than other Starbucks I've been too. Not very cozy feeling as some of the other Starbucks I've been to. All in all...not terrible, but it's a better deal to just go to the DD across the street if you want a plain regular coffee. read more

This location is hit or miss - early morning when its not too busy, they are on their game. If you hit it at 'rush hour', you can expect waits and mistakes. Also, you can't ask for 'special requests' - I have requested the bacon be removed from my sandwich every time I order it and it is 50/50 whether or not it happens. I have started going to mobile ordering to avoid the line and hopefully get exactly what I want - to no avail. I have either received the wrong thing or waited for a long time to find out they were out of whatever bakery item I ordered through the app - seems like they could figure out a system to put something with the drink order to signal an issue rather than standing around trying to get their attention.
