I've reviewed every other convenience store around here (where's my Classiest Yelper award??), but this one is definitely my favorite. Not because it's an above average convenience store, but it serves its purpose and the guys who work here are all super cool. The other night after fellow Yelper Marie dropped me off I went in here to get some late night snacks, which these dudes know I like. One of the guys suggested I get a weird European candy bar and I declined, so he bought one and gave me half. He was in here again yesterday when I was buying a sandwich (God knows I can't just make one myself) and he said, "What, no snacks today?" I said no, I should lay off the snacks and he said "Ok but if you change your mind, I'll buy you some!" What a cool guy. I'm pretty sure he just wants to sleep with me, but that just solidifies the five star rating because flattery is the #1 way to my heart and wallet. BTW if he's reading this -- you're cool dude, but it ain't happenin'!
Speaking of sandwiches, I have found the ones here to be the absolute best cure for my inevitable Sunday morning hangovers. You can usually find me in here every Sunday around noon when I've dragged my ass out of bed and managed to put a full sweat suit on. I decided to change things up a bit in my Sunday routine yesterday by getting a sandwich for dinner instead of breakfast/lunch (no I will not use the word brunch). I could lie and say I was busy doing all kinds of fun and/or important activities, but I really just got caught up in a 30 Rock marathon in bed, when one episode turned into 7 and then I died childless and alone with my two cats surrounding my decaying body that was discovered only after my neighbors smelled the stench coming from my apartment. Oh wait, that part hasn't happened yet.
One time I came in here and the only person working in the store was a 7 year old child who made my sandwich. It was like witnessing the sweatshop worker children at the Gap sewing my jeans with their little baby hands, and I felt kind of bad, but man did that little boy make the best dang sandwich I ever did eat.
I'm probably going to stop coming by here so often simply because of the fact that the more I allow myself to eat here, the less real food is actually incorporated into my diet. My New Year's Resolution was to stop being so hell bent on doing things that will slowly kill me, so seeing as almost half of the year is already over, I might as well start now. read more
