Amazing place like stepping back into the 1980s. Reed is the bartender and waiter. Nothing fancy, but you will like right at home.

Ambiance is super cool, despite being sandwiched between rowdy Lavaca St Bar and all the bars/clubs…read moreon 4th. Looking for a place to watch March Madness and it felt like a humid day packed like sardines in a Boston T car when we walked in and out of Lavaca. We were quite enlightened to walk into The Pub, right around the corner, welcoming us to a cool and dim space with tiled floor, trimmed walls, and embellishments of faux trees. The space wasn't overly packed and a good amount of TVs to feel supported by at least three different sporting events. Even a TV in the men's room (not women's). Service was great! Regular table sweeps. Eric at the bar was very kind and accommodating. What to order? You're in an Irish Sports Bar. A Guinness is a must. The heads were perfect. Pastrami sandwich. You won't be disappointed. And the Burger was actually pretty good too, and unique with touches of arugula and mixed brisket and ground beef meat. Of course, it's always a fun touch to have some special sauce offered. The only thing I noticed that seemed unusual was, not only an automatic tip applied but also, a credit card processing fee added to the bill. Felt a little odd and out of place. Of course, I'm not sure if this is applied with regular service, as we ordered directly from the bar (despite sitting at a high top nearby). Another observation: a lot of people ordered wine and even espresso martinis here. Either they know something I don't, or this place calls to a variety of people. Cheers!

I got the Bangers and Mash and I wouldn't get it again. While the mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, the two sausage was not very tender and a bad texture. I think the food is fine in terms of bar food.

Three large pieces of perfectly beer battered fish with house made fries, a hefty portion to leave you full and happy. The lighting there isn't the best, so the pictures don't do it justice. They even have the traditional malt vinegar if you ask for it. It comes with homemade tartar sauce and some lemon wedges (I always ask for extra) Other great things we've tried include the sausage sandwich, the breakfast, the cottage pie, bangers and mash, curry and chips, Reuben egg rolls, and the steak! Yes, the steak! It was surprisingly good, but everything is good here. They even have HH specials on Fridays until 6. Fish and chips are buy 1 get one 1/2 off on Tuesdays. They also have live music - check their schedule. Parking is a bit awkward but we've never been unable to find any. Service is always great.

This was a tale of two shifts…read more The first shift handled our ipening drinks and appetizers ... enjoyed them! The cauliflower buffalo wings were firm and tasty. The curry french fries were okay ... not a huge fan of their curry sauce. The mule was very good as was the raspberry beer. The plates however were a different story. Every plate was cold .. not just not warm .. they were cold like sitting out on a counter for an hour cold. The food was bland .. they were out of items (potato pancakes) ... did not tell us .. and subbed without asking. The experience started well but ended poorly.
