I speak highly enough of Steve and his team at Steve's auto care. They've been a lifesaver for me whenever I've had a car issue. Their reliability and quick response time have made them my go-to choice every time. I tell all my friends and family about this place. I was referred by another friend. Highly recommend! read more

I can't say enough about Steve and his shop. I've been coming to him for over 20 years . He has seen me go through A few cars and each one he gave honest fair Prices to work on them. He is honest when it comes to what you need . Definitely bring your car to him. read more

Came in for a tune up, mechanic informed me that my oil switch was out and a tune up was not necessary, the tune up was quoted at $280 but then the oil switch repair ended up being $750. I wasn't mad about having to pay for what needed to be fixed but my car started leaking oil after the oil switch was replaced. I called in and brought my car in. Once I called to see the progress the mechanic said it was a seal that needed to be replaced which would cost $125. Again, I have no issue paying for car maintenance but my car is still leaking oil... Maybe I just had a bad experience and they do have better service but I did not get to experience it. read more

Steve's is the best mechanic not only in Hawthorne, but in Los Angeles.great workers friendly atmosphere! 10/10 I recommend.

After My 2014 Dodge Charger started having an engine misfire (random) and started shaking pretty hard, I thought something major was wrong with the engine. I brought it to Steve as I do with all my cars I've had for 10 years. He diagnosed that it was the oil cooler housing. I left the car with him and within 4 hours he was done. the car has been running great ever since. only costed $400 when I thought I needed a whole new engine. thank you Steve! read more

A mechanic you can trust! Steve is very honest and diagnosed and fixed my car very quickly! Was told by a different mechanic that I had an engine leak and a bunch of other stuff wrong with my car but I suspected this was a money grab and I was right! Steve said he didn't know why the other mechanic would tell me that and he showed me exactly what was wrong with my car and had it fixed within an hour! Will definitely be returning! read more

It was the nightmare to leave my car there..the owner can speak nice to you but he kept my car for OVER A MONTH DOING NOTHING. We had really hard time to manage the daily routines. And there was no choice and he brought our car to a dealer because he can't fix it AFTER A MONTH. It was really sad, frustrated feelings that we had to swallow. And YET he hasn't fix the back of my car because there are ordering the parts. Ugh..after fixing other part, he NEVER EVER CALL US BACK!!!!! PLEASE NOTE PEOPLE: THIS PLACE IS HELL. Believe me..and it happened 2 times. We won't come back or I CANT recommend to friends and family. Steve,, we are just really sad what you do. You know who we are... read more

I had my truck towed to steve's auto shop to have transmission replaced. The transmission came with a six month warranty, however, it was never honored. I took my vehicle to him on four different occasions under warranty, five different occasions after, and numerous phone calls throughout. I've had issues the day I picked up the vehicle and have been getting the run around nearly two years later. There have been 2 codes that have been popping up since the beginning: P1744, and P1768 both which he claim to have fixed and is not an issue. However, AAMCO stated the issue has not been taken care of and the transmission is faulty. I spent $1500 for rebuilt transmission. He knows how to smooth you over, and he's willing to do just enough to get you off his property without ever really fixing the issue. Either his mechanics are not knowledgeable or he just refuses to take care of the issue, which makes him a con artist. I would avoid at all costs if you value integrity and money. You are welcome in advance!!!!! read more

The most fair shop I've ever been. Thank you for being honest with pricing. Usually if its a female driver they would charge and trick them with price since a lot of female drivers does not really know about cars, but Mr Steve is an honest man. Thank you again. Saved me 200 bucks from the dealership. read more

I had a motorcycle accident and obtained a traumatic brain injury. This really affected my memory. I say this because I forgot about Steve. I recently had a small leak coming from under the hood. I took it to pepboys and they quoted me 1200 to fix it. I guess the tube that needed to be changed was under the engine. They said it was a big job. I was really distraught. I told my wife and she said to take it to Steve. I did and not only did he fix the leak in less than 2 hours but he only charged me about $250.00. I was so happy. Not only did I save money but I scored my good, reliable and inexpensive mechanic back. Now I take it to Steve again. I hope he can do electrical work because that's my current issue. read more

Mechanic tried to completely over charge for a brake job. $500 for full service brake job. (2005 Honda Civic DX) Standing around with my two toddlers I had to ask well how much to drive away safely...what would be mandatory. I was quoted $260 plus a "free" oil change. Also, stated that I needed two new rotors...only needed one. Shopped around and got new brakes, rotor, and service for $140 by a brake specialist on Manchester and Normandie. Was able to return one of the rotors and the back brakes were fine. read more

I was recommended to come here when my car had a problem. I felt good because every review is good. I've taken two of my cars to him and have been met with NO interest in my business. The first time he told me the car was no good, which was understandable. The second time I needed the check engine light to go off to pass smog. I explained to him what my situation was and he showed no interest in helping me get my car ready for smog. I don't know if he's so busy that he's turning down business but his lack of interest is making me look for another mechanic. I would have liked to do business with him but I'm not begging anyone to take my money. Next! read more

I've been coming to Steve for 11 years. Not only is he a good friend he is a great mechanic. His knowledge base is off the chart. In most cases he can tell you what's wrong with your car based on your discription over the phone.I would recommended Steve's auto to anyone! read more

Steve's Auto Repair 3509 West Rosecrans Ave., Hawthorne, California 90250 310-644-2111 Steve Auto Repair is a rip-off. It took me a while to realize that the problem with my car was the mechanics at Steve's Auto Repair. It got to the point where every time I would take my car to Steve's Auto Repair they would work on my car and not long after I get the car out of the shop I would have to take it back because something else would go wrong. I realized that when the mechanics would fix one problem another problem would soon occur to cause my car to need repairs again. I will not ever take my car to Steve's Auto Repair again. I urge others to beware when they do. I never considered that a business person could be so twisted but I have the repair bills to prove it. The first time I noticed it is when I took my car to Steve's Auto Repair to have my brakes fixed. They fixed my brakes or at least I thought they did. The next day while driving to work the passenger side front brake caught on fire. I poured water on it to put the fire out. I had it towed back to the shop and they fixed it. I later had a problem with my driver's side power window. It would not go down. I took it to Steve's Auto Care and asked them to repair the window. Steve said he had to replace the panel in the front driver's side door and the motor for the window. About two weeks after that my window stopped working again. Not long after that I was driving to work and my car began to overheat. I went to a Pep Boys close to my job and purchased some anti-freeze and put some in the radiator. While driving home from work the car began to overheat again. I took the car to Steve's Auto Repair and I was told I needed a new radiator. I had the radiator replaced. I thought everything was okay. To get my radiator replaced I had to leave my car overnight. When I went to pick my car up from the shop I noticed that someone had dug a hole in the back of the front passenger seat and pulled some of the foam seat filling out. The foam filling was lying on the floor behind the front seat. I told Steve (The shop owner) about it and showed it to him. He cleaned the foam filling from the floor and he then told me that, he has been having these kinds of problems since the new apartment building behind the shop was built. That was his explanation. The car was parked outside his shop overnight. Steve had the key to my car and the car door should have been locked. I had a bottle of water in the cup holder in the front of the car. There was also a 20 ounce six pack of bottle water on the back seat. As I began to drive away, I picked up the bottle of water in the cup holder and there was a pin whole puncture that had been poked into the bottom of the bottle. The water was leaking out of the cup holder onto the floor. When I got home I picked up the six-pack of bottle water on the back seat and noticed that there was a pin whole puncture in the bottom of one of the bottles in the six-pack and most of the water had leaked out onto my back seat. Not to long after that, I had a flat tire. I had to remove the flat tire and put on the mini (doughnut) spare tire that comes with the car. I had a hard time removing one of the lug nuts. After I got it off I noticed that the stud was stripped. I put the mini spare tire on the car and I could only put on three of the four lug nuts. I took my care to Steve's Auto Care and asked him to replace the stripped stud and put a new tire on the car. When I picked my car up from the shop the new tire was on the car and all of the lug nuts were on. A few weeks later I had another problem with the new tire. It had a nail stuck in the tire and the tire was slowly loosing air. I tried to remove the tire and put my spare tire on again but I noticed that the stud I thought was replaced was still stripped and I could not get the lug nut off. Apparently the mechanics did not replace the stripped stud. They put a new tire on the car and forced the lug nut on the stripped stud. I took the car to another mechanic shop and had the stud replaced and the tire fixed and the other shop did a good job. I have not had a problem with that tire since. Again, not to long after this incident I was driving my car and it began to overheat again. I went to the Pep Boys again and purchased some antifreeze. I opened the hood and I noticed that there was no liquid in the radiator. There was rust in the radiator and in the overflow tank. I also noticed that there was a cut in the upper radiator hose. It appeared that when I got my radiator replaced the mechanics at Steve's Auto Repair put water in the radiator instead of anti-freeze. The cut in the radiator hose was small and it took time for the slit in the upper radiator hose to open up enough to let the water come out and the car to overheat. I had my car towed to another mechanic. Again I had to replace my radiator. The new mechanic fixed my car good. I have been driving my car since last year with no problems. read more

I have been coming to Steve since 2009. I have had 4 different cars/trucks that he has repaired. I feel very comfortable whenever I pull up. Because Steve is always here too welcome me back. I've been loving Steve's Auto for a long while now. Steve runs a very respectable business. Fair prices and is very transparent about what is going on with your car. I trust Steve and his mechanics with my car issues. I am always told just what my car needs and they don't try to sell me on all the extra "suggested" repairs. read more

Great shop filled with a bunch of sincere people which is rare these days especially when it comes to mechanics. Steve is a great person to work with and I'm glad my buddy recommended his shop to me for oil change, brakes/rotors and whatever else I needed for my car. He was even kind enough to charge me only labor when I brought my parts to him for install. Very genuine guy. read more

This place is the best. The owner is super nice he give fair prices, he is honest, and he will make time to help you. I went to three autoshops to try and find out that was wrong with my car prior to coming to Steve's auto care. They found it right away. He also remembered me when I came back for an oil change a month later. I should also note that he is nice to the mechanics that work for him. I like supporting company's that are respectful to their employees. I don't see myself going anywhere else for my car needs. read more

I use to go to a different mechanic on Rosecrans but he ended up closing his shop on Saturdays and thats usually when I go to get any work done since I work during the week and the guy jacked my car up!!!! Anyway, my cousin ref'd me to Steve and since that day I will not take my car to any other shop. He's very honest, reasonable and fast. I rec Steves Auto Care to any and everyone. This place was recommended by a AAA tow serviceman. Glad I found this place. Steve will give you an honest assessment, a fair and often low cost repair, and the job will be done right. Recently gave me lowest cost I had ever seen for timing belt/water pump replacement. And I agree with the comments, he really does care; He once gave me priority service when I truly needed my car up and running fast. Hard to find a shop like this. Its definitely my go-to shop for all my vehicles. read more

My boyfriend's family has been going for many years. Took my car for the first time. Quick repair, reasonable prices. Satisfied!

I've had oil changes, brake pad & air filter replacements with him and I can tell you that he's very sincere, honest and does the job at a fraction of the cost than the dealer I used to go to. He will only tell you to get something fixed if it actually needs fixing. Even when I brought my in-laws to get their car checked up (which Steve offers for free btw), he didn't forcibly suggested to get the car fixed even though he found very minor problems. He explained them carefully and I think we've learned a couple of things from him too. Best part of it all, the shop is walking distance. Win-win! read more

I have been taking my car to Steve for several years. I recently had him repair a cracked head gasket and it was scheduled to be shipped out of town. He made sure my car was fixed in time for transporting. Thank you Steve you always take care of me. I don't know where I'm going to find another mechanic in Alhambra. Your the best!! Thank you read more

I wish I could give him 0 rating. He ripped me off big time and destroyed my car totally. Steve, very DISHONEST and bad ass. he might fix one of your problem and dismantle another part of your car to come back for repair to spend more money. Thats exactly what he did to my car. And he will keep dismantling and causing more problem to your car the more you revisit to his garage .when you confront, he will talk low tone voice to promise to do something about it and to come back tomorrow or whatever. He will do nothing but wasting of your time and money. I promise you, if a similar car as yours brought to his garage to be fixed, he will remove the parts from your car and install the other one. stay away for your goodness! read more

Used Steve a few times started out great seemed like a nice guy reasonable prices so one day my vehicle was shaking he supposedly fixed my upper control arm $500.00. Came to pick up vehicle, steering wheel was upside down and the car was still shaking told needed a camber adjustment and rotor turned additional $190.00. Car was still shaking very suspect work. He then told me I needed new tires. Went to get tires balanced $20.00 no more shaking. Should have learned my lesson but 3 years later I took my vehicle to Steve once again (I live down the street so its convenient) car was shaking told needed major tune-up $412.00. Next day car stopped on freeway had triple a come the alternator had been disconnected. A few months later car was shaking again told I needed spark plugs and valve intake cleaned. I'm like didn't this come with the major tune-up that I had a few months ago. He stated that these things happen but I will only charge you $185.00. The next day the wheel pads were loose and the windshield wiper fluid lines were cut. That was the last time I ever went to Steve. A few people in my building were like if you take a vehicle to Steve you will have more problems down the line. read more
