We've used these guys three times now and very happy with their service and pricing. The first two times they did trimming in the front yard and then the backyard. Last week they removed a laurel that was rotten 3/4 way around the trunk. They are quick and Randy is an arborist and they're all familiar with oak trees and the city of Glendale's permitting rules. We got comparative quotes and found them to be a few hundred cheaper than the others. Gladly will use them again. read more

From my personal experience, Steve's Tree Experts has been a pleasure to work with. The rates were great and the service was spectacular. There was a large tree that was growing into my house that required some work to be done. In just a couple days, the tree has vanished due to Steve's Tree Experts. Now this is a business that is worth two thumbs up. I do not know why it carries a low rating from those before me, but I certainly am a fan now. Other than having to let me wait for almost the whole day until their arrival at close to 5pm (nevertheless, no promise was made by Tim on what time the guys would come), the entire team was professionally dressed, well equipped, courteous, and knows the trade very well. It took a bit more than 2 hours to take a dead oak tree down and have the stump ground out; it was indeed a lot of hard work and all the heavy wood were carried out by hand! We've used Steven's many times over the years (it's since merged with Flintridge Tree Care) so I called them to come out and give an estimate. Michael was very prompt, we agreed on the quote and they came out bright and early this morning with a great crew and did an excellent job on our quarter acre property, which included stump grinding. They even cut up some of the smaller wood into logs for our fireplace. Tree work is dangerous business. It's worth paying for a company that has a well-trained crew and liability insurance. Our trees look great, our yard looks clean, and I'm more than happy to recommend their services. read more

Don't use this company! They damaged my paver driveway while trying to clean it from their negligence of not protecting it when trimming my trees. They dragged branches across the driveway which left brown stains. They have terrible customer service. Over time I contacted the CALIFORNIA STATE LICENSE BOARD & we went to arbitration. They lost but I didn't win. I was awarded just enough money to replace the pavers that were damaged but the manufacturer has discontinued the item. I now have to pay 3 times what I was awarded to replace my driveway! I spent hundreds of hours of my time during the 2 years since they trimmed my trees to get that settlement. They also damaged some plants & fencing & did not do a good clean up. I was picking up branches for months that were cut & kept falling out of the trees. read more

I've used Stevens Tree Service twice now. The first time they cut a Camphor tree in my back yard. They did an excellent job, just like I thought it should look like, maybe even better, but they did take 2 of my trash cans and left a rake behind. The cost was probably a little more than most but it was worth it. Later in the year (summer) I called them back to cut my oak tree since they told me they can only cut them during the summer months. I told them exactly what I wanted. They also told me since they are a protected tree that they can only cut branches that are 4 inches or smaller. Well, when I got home that day, I counted 4 or more branches that were cut that were at least 6 inches to 10 inches in diameter. Also one large branch hit my house and left a large mark. There were funny looking branches hanging down that looked out of place. I wrote them a letter after getting the bill and never heard back from them! Last time I use that service!!!! read more

Dealing with this company has been the WORST experience I have had since being a home owner. I called the STEVEN'S TREE EXPERTS to look at some tree roots that were infringing on the architecture of my garage. The owner of the company came out, said he could remove the roots by demo-ing my driveway, removing the roots, adding a root barrier and then pouring a new driveway and installing a proper drain system in my driveway. All of this sounded reasonable and seemed to be the proper fix. I then dealt with a "salesman" with the company who quoted me the price. I asked him for two SPECIFIC things - that the driveway poured be the same brown concrete to match my existing patio concrete (I gave him the concrete name, type and color) and that I SEE AND APPROVE the drain system and drain grates before installation. I asked that the system and that the grates be IRON and of a dark brown color to match the soon to be poured brown driveway. He assured me this would be the case. The demo happened, the roots were removed, the driveway was poured. I had yet to see and approve the drain system. The workers started early every morning. One morning at approximately 8:00 am I walked out of my house to see a WHITE drain installed in my driveway. It was plastic and the grates were WHITE PLASTIC. I told the worker that I had not approved this, that it looked awful. I called the salesman who drove out and looked at it. He said it looked awful and that it would be replaced with a brown system. I asked why I had not seen this first before installation, as discussed. He looked at me with a blank expression and simply said he didn't know, that the worker (who barely spoke English) was supposed to have me approve it first. The salesman assured me it would be brown. I told him NOT to paint it or cheap out on the fix. He assured me it would be REPLACED with a brown system and then back-pedaled and said the grates would NOT be iron, that they were too expensive. I told him I would look at what he was proposing but that I would have to approve it before making final payment. I went to work. I came home several hours later. The salesman was there and showed me the "new" brown drain and grates that were installed. I was surprised at how quickly they had replaced it. He told me to wait two days before driving on the drive way and into my garage. I waited 3 days, to be safe. When I did drive over the grates, the BROWN came off the white grates where my tires touched the grates. I discovered that they had SPRAY PAINTED THE GRATES AND THE ENTIRE PLASTIC SYSTEM. I called the company. I sent the owner a letter and photos. The owner never responded. I received a letter from their office stating they would do nothing to fix this, that they had fulfilled the contract, when, in fact, the concrete had yet to be sealed. They demanded their final payment of 25% of the job. I refused to pay and had to contact the State Contractors License Board. I sent them all of the photos, etc and they immediately took action. I also met with two other contractors who told me I had overpaid for the entire job by up to 50%. That was my fault as I DID NOT get multiple bids. I was stupid in that regard. I also DID NOT have every detail of the job outlined in the contract - ie IRON GRATES, APPROVAL BEFORE INSTALLATION, etc. I trusted these people and they did not want to follow through on their word. In the end, they fixed certain items over a FOUR MONTH PERIOD. It took numerous calls from the CONTRACTORS BOARD and from me. It was highly stressful and a huge time suck. They replaced the grates with powder coated iron grates. The driveway does not match my patio so I am guessing they did not use the concrete I had asked for. Plus I now know I overpaid by a lot. This is a TERRIBLE company. They are completely disorganized, do not have integrity and are a rip off. read more

These guys are the most awesome freakin' people! I am so happy with everything they did in my yard. I've got 9 palm trees 100 feet tall, and this guy backed this giant 35 foot truck up down my very long driveway, with only inches to spare on either side and didn't hurt anything. They did an excellent job trimming off 25 years of dead palm fronds, cleaned up every leaf (even the ones that were there before), cleaned up the few that fell into my neighbors yard, and even blew out the driveway. Unbelievable! Everyone spoke English, all very nice guys, Tim and Randy were great to hang out and create my dream yardscape with. Great ideas, great people. I've used their service for three years 1 for tree and hedge trimming and am very pleased with their work. I have a 'lollypop' olive tree that needs pruning twice a year and presents a tricky problem in that the trim needs to be smooth and symmetrical as well as opening up the canopy for the health of the tree. Two other companies tried and did a poor job-- it looked jagged and lumpy when they were done, Steven's work,on the other hand, is always neat and professional looking. I've also had them not only trim a hedge but reduce height by over a foot-- that's a tough job to do because the hedge hides an interior framework of heavy branches that are exposed when the height is brought down. Again, Steven's did it very well and left the hedge neat and healthy as well. They are prompt, pleasant, and costs are very reasonable compared to others I've tried. I recommend them! read more

O...M...G. We have only 2 'outstandings" in the history of our 50 years at the same address. When the man came out to give me an estimate, he seemed just as knowledgeable as the arboretum tree doctor. He said they wouldn't leave a speck of mess in our yard or the neighbors, and by God, they didn't!! Not only that, they ground the stump, and planted the former treed/bushed area with exactly what I wanted. The sprinklers are still o.k., (wow!) and so, with this yard job, I didn't need to do any of their cleanup! Most importantly, they didn't damage any other plants or property I have yet to see what more plans they've come up with with my mother. She's on a bender at the moment, and she can't afford what I think they might be hardselling her (A future yelp may be in the works...) read more

I wouldn't use these guys to trim my hedge let alone a tree. One of their trucks ran a red light at Alosta and Amelia in Glendora, right in front of me, causing me to lock my brakes and ruin some of the the things I was carrying. I tried to stop the driver, but he and the passenger were so belligerent that I determined that they must have been drunk. Not people that I would have on my property! read more

I browsed the website for several different Tree Expert companies. I came across Steven's Tree Experts and gave them a call. Operators were very friendly and sent out an arborist almost immediately. The arborist that came out was very knowledgeable about my trees and friendly. The price was right in my price range so I decided to go with the company. The work was set up for 2 days from the initial meeting. Crew came out and was great! At the end of days work, I loved the work they did. All in all, this company is very experienced and friendly. Knows how to tend to their customers. read more
