She appeared to be in a hurry as evidenced by her speeding through her typical questions without addressing that I had recently been seen in urgent care. It seemed like she felt rushed, and maybe that's the fault of the facility. I tried to express that I was concerned about a chronic issue that seemed to be getting worse. That I had to quit my job as a board certified music therapist because my hands become stiff when playing the guitar. Ankles when walking or standing, and now my hips were starting to be in so much pain it was debilitating. I was throwing up and pooping myself on the job. I expressed a family history or autoimmune disease. She literally mocked me.. and said I don't treat pain. I didn't want her to treat pain, I wanted to know why I'm 29 years old and deteriorating. I came to her seeking guidance, help, support, and I was met with no patient advocacy. She also loudly talked about me in the hallways. I called her back in, and suggested that she didn't read my chart before our visit because she didn't see my TSH report, and was very unprepared. I was met with opposition. She offered a referral mental health support when I became frustrated with her behavior which I found to be abusive, gaslighting behavior. She also failed to rerun the lab in question.. she just ran a CMP and CBC if I remember correctly. I reported her to the licensing board, but nothing was done. She is the reason I am terrified of doctors. She is the reason I was afraid to go to the doctor for AWHILE. I still cry about the way she treated me. I found courage to go to the ER when I was having chest pain.. on 4/19/2021 and was met with equal opposition. Luckily, after the day Royall made me feel invisible...I became angry and a FIGHTER! I became MY OWN ADVOCATE!! I fought the ER PA about my heart, and it was a great thing I did because an heart condition was uncovered. I was RIGHT, and needed cardiac care. I still am terrified of doctors.. but a recent spout with pancreatitis landed me back in the ED... where again I was dismissed ... but thanks to Royall.. I no longer take crap off medical professionals... I adamantly requested abdominal CT with contrast that uncovered that my hip that I tried to talk to Royall about has a sclerotic lesion. Needs medical attention right away. I am finally getting the help I so deserve, and found a PCP provider that believes me, listens to me, and includes my opinions in the plans. She believed me that I may have something autoimmune going on even with negative blood markers. She's dedicated to deeply searching for the cause of my chronic illness and pain. If it was NOT for the terrible care I received from Sabrina Royall I wouldn't have found my PCP, started a holistic healing business, becoming proficient on patient advocacy, or be getting the help I need. It's a shame she assumed I was a "non-compliant" patient who was "drug seeking". I wanted ANSWERS. I was looking for the support of a medical expert and with Sabrina Royall I did not receive it. It's a shame. I hear she's well liked. Maybe I caught her on a bad day for BOTH OF US!! I'm excited to meet my orthopedic doctor this month. No thanks to New Horizon Healthcare, and super nervous about this biopsy. I'm praying it's is a typical benign bone island, and I'm hope we find out why I can barely ambulate without pain. I hope that this FNP will learn not to judge people because they are young or even black ... when they tell her something is WRONG!! If you go to this facility for PCP care, please be sure to advocate for yourself with this provider.

She also gave me a water flosser, with instructions of how much flossing, per day, and with what, for a certain amount of days. She was gentle, very professional, and kept asking me if I was experiencing any pain (under the gums deep cleaning can hurt/be painful). She did a good job, was thorough, and attentive.

When I made my initial phone call to schedule an appointment to have a crown replaced, I was not judged whatsoever when I let it be known that I hadn't been to a dentist in 7 years. Also, they were able to get me in the very next morning! Brittany, Dr. Tom's Dental Assistant was so sweet. She made sure I was informed, prepared for what was coming next. From my x-rays to my time in the chair, she made sure I was comfortable and answered all of my questions. She is personable and found ways to relate to me, which I appreciate very much. She is an amazing asset to their team! Jessica worked the best magic with my insurance and was able to get them to cover an additional $450 that I thought I was going to have to pay. THANK YOU, JESSICA!! Dr. Tom was personable, gentle, and I also felt zero judgment from him. He took his time, he gave me multiple options, and was confident in his work, which made my anxiety ridden brain feel much better. He is funny and easygoing, maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I vibed just fine with him. I appreciated him referencing his own wife or sister when saying, "If you were my sister, this is what I would do." This is exactly how I feel about the people I care for and would have said the same thing. After having my xrays taken at Grandin family Dentistry I was told that I needed 3 fillings. I guess my insurance had changed because I had been comming there for years with no problem, initially to see Dr Ross. I decided to cancell untill I could figure out what was going on. They charged me a $60 cancellation fee which I paid. Shortly after, I had to go out of town to another state where I used to live. I had a great dentist there, so I had GFD send my xrays to him. Later that day his office called to tell me I didn't need any fillings. They suggested I call GFD and try to find out why they said I needed 3 fillings. I did call them, but honestly I did not fully understand their answer, perhaps because of the jargon. I think they said something like one tooth needed a filling and the other two were not as bad but still needed "care". I am now in search of another Dentist in Roanoke.

Four extractions as well as some serious dental work. I have always taken good care of my teeth. I am just not genetically blessed. 3 of the four extractions were root canals I had in my early 20's. Needless to say they had to come out. After healing up from that process and the additional dental work. I had to do the affordable thing and get dental partials for the open spaces. At this time bridge work is nit in my budget. But she made all of this process easier by her patience. She explained everything to me. No calls. No email. No mail. No reason for me to think I owed them money. 3 years later, I need emergency oral surgery, for which I had to wait a week for a consultation. A day before the consultation the receptionist called me and cancelled the appointment due to small unpaid debt. She was fairly rude about it in a "bless your heart" kind of way. I asked if I get it squared up with their lawyer could we keep the appointment. She said no, and that they would have to get verification that the payment was made and after that it would be the surgeons decision whether or not to accept me as a patient. I immediately called the lawyer and paid the amount. They said that they were notified and tried to reach me at an old address. They never attempted to call. They never attempted email. They said they would let Roanoke Oral Surgery know the amount was paid same day. I might be a weird edge case, but at this point, I feel like Roanoke Oral Surgery mishandled the situation and I question their administrative competence. I am going with another provider, even if I have to wait longer. 0/10 - Do not recommend.

Hopefully it will help somebody else make a better decision regarding a dentist. I had a horrible, horrible experience! I would NEVER recommend Dr. Moore to anyone. I had seen him for routine dental exams with no issues in the past, and his staff is very nice. Unfortunately, I had to have an ER tooth extraction for a lower bicuspid that became extremely infected after a filling. Dr. M was rude and unempathetic! It took over 1 1/2 hrs to extract the tooth, my mouth could not be fully numbed due to the infection being so severe, but he acted as if I was exaggerating, and became angry and frustrated because the tooth was difficult to remove. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone!
