I had a consultation about 3 years ago. I paid what was due at that time. I ended up not going through with the surgery. They never made any effort to collect any remaining payment from me. No calls. No email. No mail. No reason for me to think I owed them money. 3 years later, I need emergency oral surgery, for which I had to wait a week for a consultation. A day before the consultation the receptionist called me and cancelled the appointment due to small unpaid debt. She was fairly rude about it in a "bless your heart" kind of way. I asked if I get it squared up with their lawyer could we keep the appointment. She said no, and that they would have to get verification that the payment was made and after that it would be the surgeons decision whether or not to accept me as a patient. I immediately called the lawyer and paid the amount. They said that they were notified and tried to reach me at an old address. They never attempted to call. They never attempted email. They said they would let Roanoke Oral Surgery know the amount was paid same day. I might be a weird edge case, but at this point, I feel like Roanoke Oral Surgery mishandled the situation and I question their administrative competence. I am going with another provider, even if I have to wait longer. 0/10 - Do not recommend. read more

Roanoke Oral Surgery, and in particular Dr. Stokes, is fantastic. No one wants to visit an oral surgery place, especially not me. My dentist recommended me to Dr. "Chill" , professionally known as Dr. Stokes. I vertically cracked a molar so that it split open at the slightest touch...painful ! I get so stressed out when visiting dentist, let alone an oral surgeon to extract a cracked tooth, and then prep the gum/jaw for an implant. Dr. Stoke's is called Dr. Chill by my dentist because he has an amazingly calm and pleasant demeanor. He is very calming. He put me at ease in everything he did with me to get my situation handled. He is professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. I felt very much at ease and well taken care of. Best medical experience I have had anywhere, at any time. All the staff is wonderful too. Life would be so much easier if all my doctors were anything like Dr. Stokes. I am 49 years old and found out that I had an impacted wisdom tooth that needed to come out. I met with Dr. Nicole Reddout and she went over a couple of options with me. I decided to have the tooth cut out a couple weeks later. I had heard stories about how much more difficult it was to remove and impacted tooth the older that you get. I wasn't sure if I should go through with it. I talked with her more the day I scheduled the removal of the tooth and she took the time to go over the options again and told me whatever I was comfortable with, that is what she would do. I decided to go for it. She was so thorough in explaining everything to me as she started to numb my mouth all the way through the process. She made sure I was comfortable the entire time I was with her. She was very courteous and kind and caring. Lots of loud noises, but she prepared me for what was coming each time. After not too long the tooth was out. :). The assistant helping her was just as friendly and knowledgeable and I felt very comfortable leaving, not knowing what was in store, or how the healing process would go. THANK God I didn't have a dry socket, or any major issues. A small amount of swelling the next day. I came into the office and they gave me a "jaw bra" to wear that held an ice pack inside of it to help keep the swelling down. I did go for a follow up about a week later and she cleaned out the area with water and said things were looking great. The staff at this office were all very friendly and kind and respectful. From the initial consultation I knew exactly what I was expected to pay and what my insurance would cover. I would highly recommend Roanoke Oral Surgery. Dr. P berates potential clients!! My mother was referred to this jerk my her dentist, or persistent (more than 2 months!) "Lie bumps" that were causing much discomfort, pain and trouble eating. She has anemia and very low hemoglobin production, which can cause the condition, but is also making it worse due to difficultly eating or drinking. Here's what happened to her: "The Oral Surgeon I went to today says there is nothing wrong in my mouth The Oral Surgeon: said there nothing wrong in my mouth AND THAT I WASTED HIS TIME!? He threw in several times that I am 74 as he continued to berate my mouth and teeth! " Do yourself a favor and find someone who doesn't like to berate his patients. I have to wonder if he would have said of that if my COVID-19 hadn't kept my Dad waiting outside. read more

Dr Reddout did an amazing job!! I had two wisdom teeth that were not impacted. I was so nervous to get these top teeth removed because I had never had a tooth removed before. It literally took 20 minutes from numbing to extraction. Would highly recommend-thank you so much!! read more

My daughter needs her 4 wisdom teeth out. I called to get an estimate and they told me $5000!!! Seriously?? When I asked the price to our local oral surgeon the woman told me $2400-2800 max. When I told her the price this dentist quoted, she asked me if they were putting the teeth back in at that price!!! Would not recommend!! read more

Dr. Stokes and all the staff I met here were all awesome! The staff really made me feel like I was in good hands, they were all very kind and answered all my questions. I went in for an assessment, then went in again a few weeks later for my scheduled wisdom tooth removal surgery. I opted to have my mouth numbed, and stay awake for the surgery. It was done quickly, professionally, and almost painlessly (except for the initial numbing injections, which weren't that bad). The waiting room and offices are also very neat and clean. 10/10! read more

As noted by a previous review - We had negotiated and agreed to a set price before service was allowed. We paid in full. Then services was done. No complications and No additional services was rendered. Yet, we were then hit with over $1000 in additional bills from them. When asked what was going on they could not come up with any valid reasoning given our initial agreed upon price. Then after we reluctantly paid the additional fees, they still had the audacity to send us to this scumbag attorney (cause our payment wasn't fast enough for them). I should add that, yes, we have insurance but as everyone knows, insurance is pretty much worthless now - you have to pay deductibles, co-payments, co-insurance, and everything else that insurance doesn't cover, plus.... Also, I should note -- not disclosed to us prior! there is no licensed anesthesia providers here, no CRNA, no anesthesiologist -- yet you will get charged with a full anesthesia bill - why - cause the dentist double-dips by doing the surgery and gives his own sedation drugs at the same time. Very unsafe, no one is watching to make sure you are breathing safely yet you are billed. AVOID!!!! I have practiced in healthcare for nearly 30 years and am an esteemed member of my profession, yet I am treated this reprehensible way too -- wish I had heeded the previous reviews read more

If you don't have insurance, get a quote as they offer no discount to cash customers and my bill was double what I was quoted by other near by Oral Surgery offices. Big OUCH! The dentist and staff were great, just way too pricey for cash customers. read more

Had a great experience here today with my fiancés wisdom teeth extraction. I have had a great experience in the past as well for myself, my brother, and cousins as well. Dr. Parulis was very thorough and kind and his staff was friendly and helpful. Dr. Parulis also gave us his number so that we can call or text at anytime. I recommend that if given a choice you choose them for any oral surgery you may need. read more

Our in person experiences in this practice were great. The doctor was fantastic and office personnel were nice. My problem came when I had a question about what my insurance had paid. I called the office and was directed to the "insurance department". I asked the person a question regarding how much my insurance had paid and she replied in a rude voice "that's what your EOB is for". Well it's a great thing I know how to read an EOB - but the amount the EOB told me I owed was different from the amount I was being billed. I filed medical insurance for a physician's office for 10 years and never spoke with a patient that way. I understand people have bad days at work, but the rudeness was uncalled for. Simple question only needed a simple answer. The doctor himself was fantastic, but definitely need someone else handle their billing. Sometimes it's the small details that make a good practice an excellent practice. Sadly, this may make me choose a different oral surgeon for my family in the future. read more

Dr. Parulis is great. The old staff was great, but on my recent visit, almost all of the staff was new. They were also inattentive, impatient and rude. I waited in the dental chair for at least 45 minutes, and no one bothered to check on me. Right behind my room was a gathering area; I could see about 10 of the assistants just standing there talking and laughing for most of the time that I was waiting. Finally, I had to use the bathroom; when I got up and approached the group, one looked over at me with and annoyed look and then ignored me. When I spoke up and asked where the bathroom was, she literally rolled her eyes at me and impatiently showed me where it was. The office person, who takes the payment, literally jumped out of her chair and freaked out when I had to change the bloody dressing so I could talk to her (she couldn't understand me with it in). Her reaction was way over the top. When I called the office a few days later, because I thought I might be having dry socket problems; the assistant cut me off very rudely, would not listen to me, and bluntly told me that I did not have dry socket. When I tried to explain why I thought I might, she again interrupted me and and rudely said you can't have dry socket, it was an upper tooth. Well, I hate to tell you but I've had dry socket once before and it was an upper tooth! The staff were all so rude that I am changing oral surgeons. I hate that I have to leave a great dentist because he has such a terrible staff. I do want to add that the staff that takes your calls and makes appointments was very nice. I don't want to include them in with the dental assistants. read more
