For over 12 years Dr. Jin and her staff have provided top-of-the-line dental health for me. After…read moremy long-time dentist retired, I gave 3-4 different dentists a chance but they all proved untrustworthy (e.g. telling me I needed expensive procedures I knew I did not need) and/or were ill equipped (e.g. rundown offices with out-of-date equipment). Good luck it was finding Dr. Jin, whose offices and equipment are always state-of-the-art! For example, at the start of the pandemic, she quickly acquired the latest health-safety equipment that enabled her to continue serving her patients without hazard. Her office and its location comes close to "luxurious," as well as just simply lovely, comfortable and convenient (easy access from HWY 680 in San Ramon, fairly near Costco, etc.) For all this, one might anticipate top-of-the-line billing, but no, compared to charges from other dentists dating from 10 years ago, not unreasonable. Especially, considering all the extra expenses I would be paying for the unnecessary procedures that had been proposed - and on one occasion "demanded" if I were to become a patient. I recently dropped my retired-teacher dental insurance and am now on self-pay, which turns out to be cheaper, even given a new crown looming in the future. The courtesy and sincere interest the entire staff shares with you reinforce the comfortable feelings you feel the first time you step into the building itself, even before reaching the office. And an extra plus: highly skilled hygienists...Tiffany, for one, is the best ever ! That being said, all in all, trust is the best feature of Dr. Jin's service -- she trusts you and will work with you to meet your situation and needs. And you can definitely trust her !

The second you walk in, it feels more like a spa than a dental office with water features, massage chairs...the whole vibe is calming. The front desk staff were SO kind (on the phone and in person), which instantly put me at ease. They even have a comfort menu (blanket, temple massager, neck wrap, aromatherapy, etc.). It felt more like a spa day than a dental visit! The dentist herself was incredible. She was so patient, kind, and she explained every step so I actually understood what was happening. I was told I needed a crown from another dentist but she was able to fix it with just a quick filling. She was compassionate about my worries, and my filling ended up being 100% painless. Honestly, this was the best dental experience I've ever had. It totally flipped how I feel about going to the dentist. 10/10 recommend.

If you had told me a few years ago that I'd one day, be emotionally attached to my dentist and her…read moreoffice staff, I would have laughed out loud with my half-hidden smile and changed the subject. Then I met Dr. Chao and her incredible team at Pleasanton Prosthodontics. What started as fear, embarrassment, and years of avoiding mirrors somehow turned into one of the most life-changing experiences I've ever had. And trust me, nobody puts "dental implants" on their bucket list expecting a spiritual rebirth and the sudden urge to smile in every photo like they're running for office. Dr. Maggie is one of those rare doctors who combines absolute perfectionism in her work with genuine compassion for people. She never made me feel rushed, judged, or like "just another patient". She honestly cares. And she is so amazingly sweet. She always took the time and explained everything, calmed every fear, and somehow made a very intimidating process feel manageable. She answered all questions kindly, and in plain English, so you could understand. Honestly Dr. Maggie has the patience of a saint and the precision of a neurosurgeon working on a brain. And her staff? They are absolute angels from above. Every single person that worked on me over the years is kind and warm, and supportive especially when I was feeling extra vulnerable, or embarrassed. They never made me feel like I was judged or less than. Some of the girls have quite the sense of humor, and would make me laugh, when their fingers were down my throat, (figuratively) which made it even funnier. I could go in there all depressed, and one of their stomachs would rumble with hunger, and we'd all start cracking up, and I'd end up leaving with smile on my face, even before it was pretty. They cared about me, remembered me, and supported me throughout the whole long process. But here is the real truth; they didn't just fix my teeth. THEY GAVE ME MY SMILE BACK! AND MY SELF ESTEEM! Now I smile without thinking about it. I am no longer the person slinking around the back of the group, not wanting my picture taken. Now, I am happy to be right up front, grinning as wide as I can for the photo. That kind of confidence restoration is hard to explain unless you've lived without it for a long time. My journey began in 2015 when I fell down some stairs and broke my front tooth. You don't realize how self-conscious you become, not wanting to talk to strangers because of the gaping hole in your smile. I think I was the only person in the world who was HAPPY to wear a mask when COVID hit. It was truly awful, and even though it took a long time for the whole process, it was soooooo worth the wait. If you are scared, embarrassed, overwhelmed, or putting this off because you think things are "too far gone;" please don't give up. Dr. Chao and her team are proof that kindness and extraordinary skill still exist in this world. They will help you get your smile back, too! Like they did for me! 10 stars isn't enough. I'd like to leave them a whole parade if Yelp allowed it. GOLD stars, disco lights, and a full advertisement billboard on the Vegas strip, and it still wouldn't be enough to express my satisfaction and gratitude to Pleasanton Prosthodontics. HIP, HIP HOORAY TO DR MAGGIE AND HER TEAM! Thank you all so much for taking such good care of me, God Bless you all!!! Sincerely, Leah Wyeth (Modesto)

If you have personal insurance, rather than large group/corporate insurance, I would recommend…read morefinding another dentist and here is why... I was a patient in the early years of H2 and they were great. Dr. Seo is a great dentist. But I also think as the practice grew, they began to leave "the little people" behind. What I appreciated about H2 his honesty and fairness. Dr. Seo had told me that I did not need a crown when another dentist had told me so. I so appreciate that. More than his bedside manner, which I thought was excellent, I just appreciated the fact that he and Leslie were straightforward and honest. So we started going to H2. I was thankful that they took my dental Insurance, which at the time was Blue Shield. There didn't seem to be any issues at all at that time, which I know was a while ago. The problem arose when I was told that Blue Shield would not be covering certain services H2 was providing. But rather than giving me this info up front and leaving the decision to me to either pay out of pocket or find a new dentist, which I would have understood, they did the work and told me the insurance wouldn't cover the costs. This led to me having to pay thousands of dollars. They said they were going to give me a "courtesy discount" of $600, but I would still owe thousands. Again, my problem is that I was never given the choice of whether to consider that I would have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket or possibly go to a new dentist because they were no longer taking Blue Shield. I wish I would have been given that option because I couldn't afford paying thousands of dollars. So after a year, I just paid off the final bill. Despite the good care, there seemed to be a bait and switch. As their staff said, if we had been with a large company such as Apple or Microsoft, we'd be fine. But having small business insurance isn't so great. Again, I understand, but like the dentist I currently have who tells me my costs UP FRONT, I wish they would have done the same. So the lesson is, big company with big insurance is great. Small business or personal insurance, avoid H2.

And yes, this may include some out-of-pocket costs upfront. However, the amount you pay now is marginal compared to what you will pay later if the issue persists and reaches a critical stage. Case and point: Dr. Harris and his team helped my wife navigate a lesion on her gums that likely would have gone unnoticed without his team's care to identify it, help us connect to a referral, and make decisions about the mitigation. In addition, Dr. Harris' front office team worked closely with me to help maximize the funds received from our insurance provider. I was on the same team pushing insurance to maximize the amount that insurance paid versus our out-of-pocket cost. If you care about preventative treatment and want a dentist who takes great care of the quality of treatment, this is the dental team for you.
